Here's the results for the 3-8-08 WWE
Smackdown/ECW Road to Wrestlemania show from the Kolf
    Sports Center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

The venue holds approx. 6000 people, and there was at
least 5300 there. Lines around the venue waiting for
the doors to open, and there were lots of kids/parents
    there.

It was scheduled to start at 7:30, but didn't start
till 7:45pm due to people not being able to get to
their seats on time. I was in the food line, and it
was nice getting that extra time to get to our seats.
I took 2 of my children, and this was their first
experience of a live event. So the merchandise table
loved my credit card. The only superstar not from
Smackdown/ECW to have shirts for sale was Cena, who
his shirts, armbands, dvd, and dogtags there for sale.

    Match 1.
Armondo Estrada comes down to welcome us to the show,
and starts off by talking about the ECW champion. He
states they have a big show for us tonight, and are
glad to be back in Oshkosh (it's been 14+ years). Then
he states the first match, for the ECW title. CM
Punk's music hits and he makes it way down. Crowd is
marking out for Punk, and he does high 5's around the
ring before getting in. Chavo comes down, takes a long
time to walk the 30 feet to the ring, and not much
crowd response. After ducking Punk, and hanging out in
the ropes for 4 minutes or so he gets on the mic and
calls out some girl in the crowd. Says "is this the
best looking girl you guys have to offer". He also
said something else to try and draw heat on himself.
It worked and the crowd starts booing and chanting
Chavo sucks. Now the match starts. It was the same
Chavo/Punk match you usually see on tv. Decent back
and forth match, but the action was dull at times.
Winner, Chavo via rollup while holding onto the ropes.
After the match Punk stood in the ring for a good 3
minutes, and it seemed he was trying to get pity from
the crowd. No response so he left.

Match 2. Chuck Pulumbo vs. Fit Finley
Huge pop for Finley, not a lot of response for Chuck.
He ducked Finley in the ropes for a good 3 minutes to
start the match, and ripped up a fan sign to get some
quick heat. Good back and forth match, and the crowd
was really into Finley. This is Hornswaggles hometown,
so everyone expected him to come out. Not happening
    tonight though.
    Winner: Finley via. shalieigh smack.

Match 3: Kevin Thorn W/Striker vs. Matt Hardy.
The place went nuts for Hardy. You could barely hear
the music. Someone in the crowd was telling Matt to
loose weight, but he looked pretty good. You could
tell he was excited to be back. Thorn is growing out
his hair, and he didn't need to get on the mic for
heat. It was a basic Hardy match, and he pretty much
dominated Thorn. It was a slower match, and didn't
have a ton of high impact action.
Winner: Hardy via twist of fate.

After the match Striker comes in to check on Thorn. He
stood up, and looked at Hardy. Striker wanted to make
friends, and extended his hand. Hardy grabbed it, and
gave him the twist of fate also.

    Match 4: Jesse/Festus vs. Ryder/Hawkins.
The crowd really loved Festus, and went nuts after the
bell rang. Festus is huge in person. Festus dominated
the match when he was in the ring, and appeared to be
quicker than both Ryder and Hawkins when it came to
moving around the ring and doing moves. Jesse came in,
and the beatdown started. Ryder/Hawkins make alot of
tags, and keep Jesse from tagging in Festus. The crowd
did alot of chanting, and finally he gets the hot tag
to Festus. Festus cleans house a few times, and
started doing kneeling headbuts on Hawkins as he was
    laying on the mat.
Winner: Jesse/Festus via Festus's finishing move.

After the match as they were leaving the ring Jesse
stopped ringside and pulled a little kid out of the
crowd. He was maybe 5 yr old. He put the kid on the
ring apron and told him to climb in. They paraded him
around the ring a bit, and Festus got on his knees and
Jesse started hitting him on the head to the beat of
their theme music. Then they got the little kid to
start hitting him also. After that, Festus stood up,
and Jesse shook the kids hand and thanked him. Then
Festus stuck out his hand. The kid shook his hand,
then they raised his hands up and left.

Match 5. Big Show vs. Kane.
Continuing the theme of the night Big Show spent a
good 5 minutes in the ropes, and outside the ring. Now
the match starts. Kane had alot of control this match,
and Big show looked pretty good. All the normal spots
in a match were hit. Due to Show's size I didn't get
to see Kane off the top rope. In all honestly neither
of these guys look over 7ft tall. I think Festus is
taller than them. Anyhow, with the match we had Kane
clothesline Big Show over the top rope, and the action
spilled out on the floor. Had a couple barricade
smashes, and back to the ring. Kane attempts a choke
slam, and Big Show counters. After a minute or so, Big
Show attempts a choke slam on Kane. He gets Kane up in
the air, and drops him on accident. Kane did a good
job on following through the move, but Big Show lost
his balence after dropping hiim and falls down to the
mat and almost landed on Kane. Total botched move.
Everyone there knew it also and started to boo. Big
Show then slides out of the ring, gets a chair and
brings in back in the ring.
    Winner: Kane via DQ.
After the match Kane gets the chair from Big Show, and
smacks him with it and Show rolls out of the ring.

Kelly Kelly comes out, does some posing, and gives
away 7 shirts to people in attendance. Kimmel
    announces a 15 min. intermission.

Match 6: MVP vs. Jamie Noble
They announce this is a Money In The Bank Qualifying
match for Wrestlemania. A couple guys with camera come
out to document the match. Noble is all taped up
around his ribs to sell the match from Smackdown last
week. MVP keeps the tradition alive of hanging out in
the ropes for the first 4 minutes of the match. Then
he gets on the mic to say that he isn't going to start
the match till everyone sits back down in their seats
to watch him wrestle. This was a very good back and
forth match, and had alot of "wrestling" involved. It
was good to see guys doing actual holds and moves
versus a couple spots, and a headlock. MVP got some
good heat, and rips off the tape job on Noble. The
crowd was really behind Noble, but he didn't respond.
This match was the longest of the night so far, and
MVP kept Noble down most of the match.
    Winner: MVP
After the match MVP picks up Noble off the mat, and
    gives him his finisher.

Match 7. Shelton Benjamin vs. Tommy Dreamer
Crowd does not like Benjamin. Dreamer gets the ECW
chant from the crowd before the match starts and
Benjamin thinks it is for him and starts the match.
Dreamer tells him they are saying that for him and the
match starts. Dreamer doesn't seem too excited to be
here, but both these guys have a good match. Some
great kicks from both guys, and Dreamer gets his
famous DDT on Benjamin. Match had a number of falls,
and the crowd was very into it.
Winner: Shelton Benjamin - can't remember how he won.

Match 8. Main Event for the Heavyweight Title
    Edge vs. Batista
Edge pushed the envelope with delaying the start of
the match. Huge pop for Batista. This guy is HUGE in
person. Edge stays in the ropes on the outside of the
ring for a good 5 minutes. He keeps kissing his belt,
and Batista grabs the mic and says that is worse than
watching Edge and Vickie kiss. He then says he needs
to throw up and pretends to vomit in the corner. Edge
is still outside, getting heat, and Batista leaves the
ring for Edge to get in. Edge comes in, Batista comes
back in, and Edge leaves the ring again. A guy in
front of me has an Edge Sucks sign, Edge walks over
and spits on the sign. Edge then gets on the mic and
says how Oshkosh sucks, and he hates everyone here.
Then he tells some guys in the crowd he is not a drama
queen. Huge "drama queen" chants break out, and
Batista starts posing like a woman in the ring. Pretty
    funny stuff.

Match finally starts. Crowd is into this
match in a major way, and action is back and forth.
Batista gets in about 3 offensive moves, and Edge
counters and gets in 3 moves. Batista then goes off,
and gets Edge ready for the Batista Bomb. Edge rolls
out of it, gets out of the ring and walks to the back.
I couldn't see, but I think it was Teddy Long who met
him at the back. He gets on the mic, says how Vickie
isn't there so he's in charge. He then tells us if
Edge walks out, or tries to get himself DQ'd that he
will loose the belt, and tells the ref to start the
countout. Edge runs back to the ring at 7. Action is
fast paced now, and the whole crowd is on their feet.
Either Ryder or Hawkins comes down to save Edge, and
Batista takes them out. Edge gets enough time, and
    gives Batista the spear.
    Winner: Edge

After the match Edge is celebration with his buddy,
and Batista gets back up and spears him out of the
ring. He then picks up Edge's buddy, and gives him the
Batista Bomb, picks up the belt, and poses with it for
the crowd. I dont think anything happened after that,
but we were on our way out the door at that point.

Summary. This was approx. my 15th live event, but 1st
one in 10 years. It was also my kids 1st event. They
had a blast, and I thought it was pretty good. I was
very impressed with the quality of matches, and who we
got to see. I was worried about not getting to see any
of the bigger guys due to a small venue, and 3 other
WWE events in the state this week. But the WWE came
through on that. The event also lasted 3 hours From 1st
match to last. That was also very cool. I wasn't
really impressed with the merchandise area, and
thought that the prices were high. Ended up spending
about $100 on stuff, and my son is the proud owner of
the Mysterio $60 mask. I can't believe that I spent
that, but it was his birthday, so WTH.

The other thing that I was not impressed with was the
lighting. Only 2 pods of lights on scaffolding on 2
corners of the ring. There were also 2 guys on a lift
in the back with spotlights. They would turn them on
and blind us whenever the action went outside the
ring. That made it very hard to see. All the old
events I went to had decent lighting, and this just
    seemed cheap to me.

Also before the main event they said they were happy
to be back in Oshkosh, and would be back again soon in
    the near future.
