TNA Impact Report 2/21/08

Hey everyone, I’m Klossing and this is my first TNA iMPACT results/review here on lordsofpain. I hope you like it…





The show opens with Kurt and Karen arguing and Kurt says Karen has until the end of the night to settle their problem of AJ Styles marrying Karen. Karen then accuses Kurt of being jelous. Kurt then tells Karen to bring her drama elsewhere and she leaves the locker room.


TNA World Tag Team title match:
© Tomko and AJ Styles vs. Kip James and “Bullet” Bob Armstrong

Bullet and AJ kick things off here. They lock up and Bullet hits a snapmere on AJ. They lock up again and AJ punches Bullet in the gut when he was in he ropes. Bullet chops AJ then tags in Kip. Kip hiptosses AJ! And AJ tags in Tomko. Tomko and Kip trade punches and Kip clotheslines Tomko! AJ hit the pele kick on Kip followed by Tomko clotheslining Kip for a nearfall. Karen Angle then comes out. Tomko gets Kip in a headlock and Kip fights out and hits a neckbreaker on Tomko! Kip tagged in Bullet. Bullet chops AJ and Tomko repeatedly. AJ then raked his eyes and Tomko and AJ accidentally run into eachother. Kip grabs BG’s crutch and Kip nails Bullet in the back with it allowing Tomko to pin Bullet for the three!
Winner: Tomko and AJ Styles

After the match Kip attacks BG’s injured leg!

(my thoughts: 1/5. The match was basically the same as the Against All Odds title match two weeks ago. This was a total waist of AJ and Tomko’s time they are so much better than this. Only good thing that came out of this was the departure of the James Gang. Now lets just hope after their feud they both get released.)


Backstage: ODB and Gail Kim say that their on the same page because they both want to take Kong out and end her reign of terror. AJ and Karen then walk in the scene and AJ says last week he got caught up in the moment. AJ says he’s not married to Karen. AJ asks if its legal. Karen says tonight is their honeymoon.

When we return backstage Kip say’s where he is blood isn’t thicker than water… friendship is. Kip say’s BG threw the friendship away. (actually a pretty decent promo just a little too short).


In the ring Jim Cornette is in the ring with Matt Morgan, Sonjay Dutt, and the Motor City Machine Guns (my favorite wrstlers ever) and they bring out “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal.

Cornette says Jay is the youngest star in TNA. He says he shocked the world by defeating Kurt Angle. He then says he was he savior of the X-Division.

Lethal says that he has officially gotten his smile back. He says he couldn’t do it by himself. He thanks the X-Division originals such as Christopher Daniels, Jerry Lynn, and AJ Styles. He then thanks the Machine Guns (God they are sooo cool). He then says it’s a privilege to stand in the ring with his best friend Sonjay Dutt. He then thanks So Cal Val, he then asks her to enter the ring with him. Lethal then asks her if she would go out with him and she says “oooh YEAH”! Lethal then says “oooh YEAH Dig It”! While Dutt looks sad.

(my thoughts: This was a pretty pointless segment. Would have been so much better if they had Dutt just go crazy and attack Lethal and lay him out with a steel chair then take out the Machine Guns. To start the Jay lethal and Sonjay Dutt feud. This was the perfect time to do that but TNA screwed it up. What a shame.)

Backstage Kaz is said to be facing Rellik. Kaz cleverally calls Rellik relish. Eric Young then warns kaz saying Kaz is a real life monster. Kaz says he is just another wrestler.

When we return Jim Cornette is in his office and he has Samoa Joe with him. He ask’s Joe to sign the contract in his locker room where no one can brak in. Joe says the contract has nothing to do with the money he just wants a fair shot at the title. He then says once he takes out the Angle Alliance then he will go onto taking on Kurt Angle at LockDown in the cage. Joe then says if he loses he will leave TNA!


We then return to the iMPACT Zone for our next match of the night…

Singles match:
Rellik vs. Kaz

Rellik grabs Kaz by the throat and Kaz gets on the apron. Kaz flipsover Rellik and hit a punch and Rellik no sells and Kaz ducks a boot and kicks Rellik in back of the head and clotheslines Rellik over the top rope to the floor but Rellik lands on his feet. Kaz then plancha over the top rope onto Rellik! Rellik on the outside hits a boot on Kaz then tosses him into the guard rail and tosses Kaz in the ring. Rellik whips Kaz chest first into the corner. Rellik locks in a sleeper variation but Kaz flips and gets Rellik in a pinning situation and gets the three count.
Winner: Kaz

Black Reign then runs in and attacks Kaz. Rellik hits the Scycle (clothesline) on Kaz. Eric Young then comes out for the save but waits for reign and Rellik to leave.

(my thoughts: 2/5. It wasn’t a very good match at all. It was too short to amount to anything. But atleast Kaz got the win. How does kaz go from defeating Christian Cage, Robert Roode, and AJ Styles to facing Rellik and Black Reign?)

Backstage Booker T says tonight he will meet Kurt one on one and says he is going to make Kurt bow down and says Roode is not in the building again. He then said Cornette said if Roode doesn’t come next week he is suspended. He then says tonight its on like neck bone… Sucka!

When we return we get set for our next match up…

Triple Threat #1 contenders match for the X-Division championship:
Sonjay Dutt vs. Johnny Devine vs. Petey Williams

Devine jump starts the match and kicks Dutt in the gut and pounds on Petey. Dutt nails a dropkick on Devine followed by Petey hitting a spin kicks on Devine. Dutt hit a standing moonsault on Devine for a two. Petey gets Dutt in a backslide for a two. Steiner then comes out. Dutt hit a leg drop on the ropes followed by a spring board seated senton on Petey for a two after Devine breaks the pin. Devine hit a gut buster on Dutt and hits a reverse suplex on Williams who lands on Dutt for a two. Devine gets two two counts on Dutt and Petey. Petey backdrops Dutt to the outside. Steiner then cracks Dutt with a briefcase then cracks Devine with it an Williams gets Devine in an inside cradle for the three count!
Winner: Petey Williams to get a shot against Lethal at Destination X

After the match Petey and Scott shake hands.

(my thoughts: 2.5/5. Pretty good fast pace action but I mean c’mon. Why put Petey ad Steiner together. Scott really brought this match down for some reason the action got really sloppy once he came out. But at least Petey is getting the push he deserves to an X-title match. Just a damn shame they pass up on Dutt and Lethal again.)

In a restraint Karen and AJ are in a reststraunt to kick off their honeymoon. AJ gives Karen some fake flowers and sets a candle. AJ then gives Karen a snow globe. AJ then tells a really funny story about his grandma and snow and Christmas. Very funny stuff. AJ then orders steak and gravy. (Very funny sement.)

When we return we see a promo from Rhino. Rhino says that James Storm was able to influence his alcohol addiction which caused him to miss several months. Rhino says at Destination X James Storm is going to fall but not get up.

Backstage Curryman and Sharkboy cut a promo and Curry speaks Japanese (I think) and Sharkboy says Curry better come out to kick some ass and that’s the fishing line cause Sharkboy said so. (Pretty funny stuff).

When we return Brother Ray steps on the scale and he makes the weight! D-Von gets on the scale and it turns out he doesn’t make the weight. How the hell does this make sense? How could Ray possibly lose what was it 50 pounds in a week? Funny part was Ray called D-Von fat and said he’s debating on calling Jenny Creg for him.

Handi Cap match:
“Stone Cold” Sharkboy and Curryman vs. Brother Ray

Curry gets several nearfalls on Ray and Ray hits a bionic elbow and dance’s. He even does the work. Curry knocks Ray to the mat and dances. Ray then low blows Curry behind the referee’s back. He tosses Curry out of the ring where D-Von attacks Curry. Ray then gets Curry in a body scissor’s! Ray releases the hold and scoop slams Curry then drops an elbow! Ray goes for a back suplex but Curry flips out if it and tags in Sharkboy! Sharkboy well erm… Stomps a mud hole on Ray’s ass. Shark hits a neckbreaker for a nearfall. Curry hits a cross body off the top to the outside onto Devine. D-Vin runs in with the scale and Shark hits a stunner on D-Von. While the referee is attending D-Von Ray cracks Shark with the scale for the win!
Winner: Brother Ray

(my thoughts: 1.5/5. Well This was a pretty entertainingly funny match. TNA seems to have a lot of funny segments on iMPACT’s. Team 3D really need to do something other than face Curryman and Sharkboy. Maybe renew a feud against LAX because it seems LAX aren’t doing much of anything either.)

Backstage: Kurt says AJ can have Karen. He says all he cares about is the TNA World title. He then says he is going to breaker Booker’s ankle!

When we return we see more footage of he AJ and Karen honeymoon. AJ takes Karen to a place called gatorland. AJ says he’s wrestler gators for Karen any day. AJ pokes a gator with a stick. (The stuff just gets funnier and funnier).

Knockouts Tag Team match:
Gail Kim and ODB vs. Roxxi and Jackie Moore

Jackie and Gail kcik things off. They lock up and Gail gets the better of the two but Jackie hits a firemens carry and Gail fights back and gets Jackie in a school girl for a two. Jackie then tags in Roxxi! Gail hits a hurricanrana onto Roxxi. Gail then tags in ODB! ODB hits a few chops on Roxxi in a corner and Rocci ducks a chop and tries to fight back but ODB hits a fall away slam. ODB goes against the ropes but Jackie kicks ODB in the back and Roxxi hits a boot on ODB for a two. Roxxi tags in Jackie and they hit a double flap jack for a nearfall on ODB! We then cut to a mid match commercial break. When we return Roxxi kicks ODB in the face for a two! ODB hits an enziguere on Roxx then tags in Gail and Roxxi tags in Jackie but the referee only saw the Jackie tag. Jackie brings ODB into her corner and tosses her to the other side of the ring and tosses her again. ODB then dropkcks Jackie into the corner then Jackie tags in Roxxi and ODB tags in Gail! Gail hits a monkey flip on Roxxi then a nice arm drag on Jackie. Roxxi then blind sides Gail but Gail fights out and hits a front lungblower on Roxxi for a two! Gail goes to a missle drop kick on Roxxi but Roxxi pushes ODB in the way! Roxxi then hits a Fall Away Slam on Gail for the three count!
Winner: Roxxi and Jackie Moore

After the match Gail Kim and ODB start to brawl until security pulls them apart. Gail dives off the top connecting with a cross body onto ODB and security! They continue to fight and we cut to backstage.

(my thoughts: 3/5. This was a really good match. Also it put more build towards the Gail Kim and ODB feud as they both wanted to team to take the belt off Kong but greed of only one of them wanting to hold the title ended their short friendship. I for one am excited to see what happens between the three knockouts.)

Backstage: We are with Father Time himself Kevin Nash, Samoa Joe, and Christian Cage are backstage and Cage says he will freely team with Joe and Nash at Destination X. Cage then say’s the three of them are unstoppable. Cage says AJ and Tomko were family to him. Cage then says they are going to end the Angle Alliance and if you didn’t know… Now ya know!

When we return we are back to the honeymoon with AJ and Karen. AJ then kisses Karen goodnight and goes into his hotel room. Karen then looks like she is about to cry.

Main Event:
Non-title match:
Kurt Angle vs. Booker T

The two lock up and Booker back Kurt into a corner and Kurt turns and puts Booker in the corner and clean breaks. The lock up again and Booker slams Angle to the mat and Angle grabs the ropes to have booker release the go behind hold. They lock up once again and Kurt gets Booker in a side headlock. Angle pushes Booker down to the mat. They lock up once again and Booker gets Angle in a hammer lock but Angle elbows out and hits an uppercut on Booker into the corner. Booker blocks a hip toss and clotheslines Angle to the mat. When Angle gets up Booker clotheslines Angle over the top rope to the outside! We then cut to a mid match commercial.

When we return Booker and Kurt are on the outside and Booker chops Angle and tosses him back in the ring. Booker hits a few forearms in a corner on Kurt and Kurt reverses and irish whip and clotheslines Booker to the mat. Kurt then hits a suplex for a two count. Kurt hit an uppercut and starts pounding Booker in the corner. Hurt whips Booker in the corner and misses a splash in the corner and Booker nails Kurt with a super kick. Booker then hits a leg lariat on Kurt for a nearfall. Booker hit a suplex for yet another two count. Booker then gets Kurt in an arm lock. Kurt fights out of it and Kurt catches Booker with a release Belly to Belly suplex! Kurt gets Booker in a waist lock. Booker starts to elbow his way out of it and he does. Kurt then dumps Booker to the outside of the ring. Then slams Booker’s face into the steel step. We then cut to another mid match commercial.

When we return Booker superplexes Kurt of the top rope into the ring! They both get to their feet at the same time and Booker unloads with punches and right hands and hits a snap suplex on Kurt followed by a sidewalk slam. Kurt starts to fight back but Booker cuts him off with a spine buster! Kurt then out of nowhere locks in the Ankle Lock but Booker kicks his way out of the hold and kicks Angle in the face. Robert Roode then appears on the apron and Booker attacks Roode. That gives Angle the time to revive and nail Booker with an Angle Slam for the three count!
Winner: Kurt Angle

(my thoughts: 4/5. An awesome main event. I’ve seen every match these two guys have had with the exception of house shows and this was by far their best in their series. I really hope some time in the future these two feud in TNA even if its not for the belt. These guys bring out the best in eachother! If you wanna catch the replay then you’ll definitely wanna see this main event. I would even go as far to say that it was the best two hour iMPACT main event they’ve had.)

After the match Roode and Angle continue to beat down on Booker then Cage comes to make the save. But the numbers game are too much. But then Booker clotheslines Roode over the top and starts brawling with him out of the ring. Joe and Nash then come out and chase Angle to he outside. Nash then grabs the microphone and challenge’s Kurt Angle to a match next week!


Overall: I give this show a whopping 6/10. It was mainly a night of comedy. We saw a very solid Knockout’s Tag Team match and an incredible television main event. But if it wasn’t for those two matches this show would have sucked. Match of the night definitely goes to Angle vs. Booker.
