Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Columnists, marks, smarks, new guys, veterans, and Mods Welcome this NEW edition of the Friday Night Write. I am your host Al Boo Boo and thank you for dropping by, you can be anywhere in the world right now, but you’re here with me, I appreciate that.

What’s good, wrestling fans? This here is Al Boo Boo, and this is the Friday Night Write. Coming to you special this week… on Saturday! It’s been a good couple of weeks for me, so hopefully you’ve been cool too. Lately, I’ve been listening to some wrestling podcasts – do any of ya’ll listen to these? I know here on Lordsofpain.net we have a good one in the Monday Night Countdown – and maybe it’s just me being a homer – but I never realized how much of a better show those guys put on than the “major” podcasters out there. From what I’ve heard – most of these shows are really shitty and the hosts – while totally immature – offer no intelligent ideas or commentary about what they’re speaking about. This got me to thinking that maybe I should start doing on myself.

I might try it one day as it seems like a lot of fun and a lot less time consuming that sitting down and typing out all these ideas. Editing and whatnot might be a bitch – but it sound like fun. What do you think? Offer me some of your thoughts when you feedback.

Anyway – this week I’m going to talk about that we all go through regardless of whether or not we even realize it. I think it’s a good topic, so I hope ya’ll like it. So check it out –

    The Main Event
The Friday Night Write – The Rumor-Mill

Rumor is that Vince has cancer and is going to be handing down the reigns of WWE to Triple H – which would explain why H hasn’t been on Raw. Supposedly, he’s been stuck at Stamford attempting to learn the in’s and out’s of the everyday job that Vince does. I guess the whole Stephanie pregnant again was just a diversionary tactic to throw off us people “in the know”. It’s weird to think that in a year or two – the man who built and sculpted the wrestling world into what it is today will be dead. It’s also weird to think that within a year or two the self-proclaimed “King of Kings” will b sitting atop the golden throne of the Wrestling World wearing his crown.

Weird, huh? Breathtaking one might say – but honestly, this example, albeit a bit extreme, is just what we get spoon fed every day here on the internet. Rumors, misunderstandings, and a lot of outright lies are typed on these websites and sometimes it’s hard to decipher what is truth and what is bullshit. I mean, you can’t lie to me – I had you going there for a second, right?

No – Vince ain’t going no where and HHH isn’t going to take over the reigns of WWE (someday, but not today). Actually, he might take off some time off. You know, with Stephy being knocked up again. Rumor was that he was supposed to main event ‘Mania in a triple threat Hell in a Cell between himself, Cena, and HBK – but that won’t happen now that he’ll be taking the next year off to be with Stephanie during the pregnancy…

There you go again – believing that bullshit. Come on, man. That’s a rookie mistake and you hate to see it. But hey, don’t feel bad – but honestly by now we should all have PHD’s in Bullshit. As I’ve said before – waves of BS gets thrown our way on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, by Wednesday it’s like we’re watching a presidential debate. Ohhh – political burn! (vote obama)

However, even though we are all used to seeing this utter crap – some still have a hard time deciphering what is truth and what is fake. It’s like when you’re picking up your dog’s crap, sure, you’ll get most of it. But there’ll always be that little bit that blends in with the dirt that you’ll more than likely miss and half an hour later step in. Sure, it sucks. And chances are you’ll get mad at your dog – but he really did nothing wrong. He’s been genetically engineered to shit wherever he damn well pleases – and you’re responsibility in having him is picking up his shit. So if you miss a spot and it comes back to bite you in the… uh… shoe – it’s no one’s fault but yours.

That’s the main thing that people must realize, yeah, the reporters are idiots for making this shit up and “reporting” it, but in the end – who should be blamed? Who should the finger of blame be pointed at?

    Us.

It’s us for clicking on those links that read “VINZ MCMAN RUNZ 4 PRESIDENT OV DA US!!! KELLI KELLI TO BECOME NEW WORLD CHMAPION!!11!!” Ok, maybe some of them aren’t that obvious. But most of the headlines we see can easily be seen as bull. Luckily for us, sometimes reporters are courteous enough to actually put *RUMOR* in the headline, so we know even before clicking and reading that it may or may not be true. This slight bit of good “journalism” is what will set apart a good website with good reporters from a crappy website with nothing more than copy and paste jobs. Many will argue that this is merely what ALL IWC News-sites are – but I disagree. Top tier sites (much like the one you sit and read at this moment) take the time out to do most of the work for you and sift through the utter bologna and the crap that is reported, and only post what is necessary. Sure, we get the occasional out of this world rumor or the every-so-often “You can see The Rock on the TV Guide channel tonight at 2:47 AM”. But, a site like Lordsofpain.net only reports what I like to call “The Good Stuff”. As opposed to OMGILUVRESTLIN!.com (not a real site) that posts everything and anything that gets sent in to them.

Want proof? All you have to do is look at some of the current stories going around the net. As I said before – everyday some kid with a keyboard types up a crazy story about a storyline involving Vickie Guerrero, Funaki, and a buffalo (preferably stuffed, for safety purposes). And – that shit gets reported as if it’s “insider news”. Alright, i’m starting to go in circles – but regardless – some rumors can actually be quite interesting and honestly might have some truth behind them. There is one that’s floating around right now that intrigues me quite a bit.

This is the rumor of Finlay taking on Vince at Wrestlemania. This match for sure could be something good. Many will see it as lame, however, since many believe that anything having to do with Hornswaggle is lame. However, imagine what Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio did with their Novella themed storyline surrounding the custody of Rey’s (er… eddie’s…?) son, Dominick. This match should be a sheer copy and paste job of that whole project. Finlay took care and brought Horny (lolz) into WWE before we were to find out that he was Vince’s son – so why would be want to give him up from an in character standpoint? He wouldn’t. The only thing that will make this storyline interesting will be if the match at ‘Mania is for custody of the little guy. And then, to really drive this one home – Finlay turns on Hornswaggle and joins Vince.

But before I get too off topic – that is one kind of rumor. The rumor that could very well – and hopefully is – true. These are the good ones. These are the rumors that we look at as “insider info”, and these are the ones that should be reported. But then there are other rumors that are just off the well. Somewhat like this one –

“Several ‘credible’wrestling websites reported a rumor this morning that 20-plus time Platinum rapper Eminem was headed to WWE. The report stated that Eminem had been training for sometime now to make his professional wrestling debut and would be taking part in an active career in the sport, not just some appearance.”

*Shakes head* - Uggh. Althought, if anyone were to do it – it would be Slim Shady. The guy is fucking insane enough to attempt it. However, I doubt Em ever even considered a career in the ring. The dude is one of the most talented emcee’s of all time – I sincerely hope he wouldn’t make anything more than an appearance. Although – it would be one hell of a promo. And hell, it’s not like he wouldn’t have motivation, anybody remember this little gem?

Although – I guess revenge has been served. Being as Hennig, you know… died. But I digress. And then there are those rumors that just won’t leave. Those rumors that cling to the rim of the IWC’s anus and hang on for dear life. Shit, some of these rumors have been around since before the Internet Wrestling Forums and newsite days. I’m talking like Pro Wrestling Illustrated story of the month type deals. The best example of this would be the rumor of Macho Man and Stephanie McMahon’s little um… how do you say… love tryst. Understandable you say? How about the fact that Daddy’s little girl was actually Daddy’s little girl when it took place. If I have my facts straight (not really facts), then this whole shindig took place when Steph was the tender age of 16. And people ask why Randy Savage never appears on WWE television anymore… heh.

But in the end – regardless of what kind of rumor it is and how much it really sounds like it could be and is fact – it’s not. It’s a rumor. Almost everything reported to us – unless reported on WWE.com – is a rumor. Some, as I stated, are more obvious than others. And then some are bonafide truth. When this happens – it makes for quite an interesting story. However, in the end – a rumor of this variety is nothing more than a spoiler. And as we all know, spoilers suck – point blank. So, what rumor is a good rumor in this case? When are rumors ok and when can rumors be listened to, trusted, and maybe even looked forward to.

Simple answer – they can’t. The best advice I can give you is to not even read rumors. Really, there is no possible goodness that can come out of reading these little nuggets of false knowledge. If it’s false, you’ll be made for a fool looking, hoping, and being excited for something that is never going to happen (like seeing Slim Shady every Tuesday night on Sci-Fi). But then – when a rumor actually does come true and you’ve known about it – it’s spoiled. And thus, because you read said rumor, you’ve spoiled it for yourself. It’s like if you had already full knowledge that John Cena would make is return in the Royal Rumble match. Wouldn’t that kind of kill the whole mood of his actually return (from his music hitting, to the pop, to his entrance) just that little less enjoyable?

End of story – rumors are whack. As I stated before, there is really no reason for reading them and no positive can come from it. Watch the show, enjoy the turns, and at times – enjoy how good or bad it is. But regardless of your opinion – do so without knowing what will happen next. Because if you do that – the show will never betoo bad.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

That’s all for this week, folks. Yeah, it’s a bit short – but this topic was more just a suggestion that a whole analysis of something. So – good or bad, send me some feedback and let me know what you thought.
