    Houston, TX: Toyata Center
    Tuesdays 10/9 CT

Good evening to all! Tonight ECW is taped from my hometown of Houston, Texas! Unfortunately, the spoilers have been released which kind of takes away from the fun, but if you haven't read them yet and are interested in reading detailed match summaries, thanks for reading!

Tonight on ECW, CM Punk and Chavo Guerrero will be looking to get an advantage over the other heading into Sunday’s No Way Out PPV. In addition, tonight marks the long-awaited return of Stevie Richards who has been battling a series of neck injuries for the past nine months. What fate will these men face? Without any further ado, lets get down to the eXtreme from H-Town!

We begin with a recap of last weeks Gulf of Mexico Match when CM Punk hit the GTS and sent Chavo ‘swimming with the fishes.’ This video is a bit extended as Chavo is shown struggling to swim and is heard “I’m Sinking!” and “I’m still the ECW Champion.”

“Don’t Question My Heart” video package plays as the fireworks go off and Joey Sytles and Tazz welcome us to ECW-HD at a sold out Toyata Center with 14,397 fans shown screaming.

Chavo’s music hits and he makes his way down to the ring and grabs a mic. He starts off by saying that he is lucky to be alive and states that he has received a sinus infection because of last week’s Gulf of Mexico Match. Chavo then proceeds to state that he even has some serious rashes all across his chest and to make matters worse, he got stung by a jellyfish. Crowd laughes at Chavo as he looks on in disgust. Chavo further says that he is still here and is a fighting champion, a Mexican warrior, and most importantly a Guerrero! And because of that, he will not wait until No Way Out to face Punk. He wants Punk tonight! GM Estrada’s music plays and he grabs another mic. Estrada starts off by saying he is proud to call Chavo his ECW champion. Then he gets under the audience’s skin by mentioning that each and every individual in the arena is proud to call Chavo their ECW Champion. Estrada adds that despite Punk disrespecting Chavo’s heritage over the past few weeks, he cannot allow Chavo to face Punk tonight. Crowd Boos! However, Estrada mentions that Punk will be in a tune-up match and his opponent is none other than the World’s Strongest Man, Mark Henry. Chavo sneezes and grabs a tissue as the Crowd laughs. Justin Roberts states that Chavo Guerrero is indeed ECW Champion as we go to break.

WrestleMania 24 is only 47 days away!

We then see the same Stevie Richards interviewing segment we had seen last week about him talking about how he plans on competing tonight since his surgeries.
Stevie Richards, who looks very emotional, comes out to a great ovation from the crowd. Camera’s circle the arena displaying several Stevie Richards signs.

Match 1: Rory Foxx v. Stevie Richards
Crowd is hot for Richards. Match begins as Richards grabs Foxx and applys a headlock. Shortly thereafter, Richards hits a shoulder takedown and the crowd roars. Same situation occurs again and this time, Richard see’s the obvious counter and hits an elbow drop to the back of Foxx’s head. Richards grabs Foxx’s arm, but Foxx grabs the ropes and immediately elbows Richards right in the face. Lots of “Stevie” chants start. Moments later, Stevie hits a snapmare and follows the attack by striking Foxx’s chest and back with thunderous kicks. Richard plays with the crowd some more and eventually hits a straight kick to Foxx’s head. Richard then hits a maneuver that looks similar to the Stinger Splash and then connects with the Stevie-T for the 1-2-3. (Rating 3.5/5. Wow. Stevie Richards received a lot of pop from the audience and he has certainly showed why he deserves it. Congratulations on the comeback Stevie!)

    A Mark Henry promo airs.

    Match 2: Kelly v. Leyla w/Lena Yada
Kelly immediately connects with a successful headlock takedown and grounds Leyla. Kelly chants start. Leyla however reverses the submission move and applies a headlock scissors. Moments later, Kelly pops out of the hold and attempts to lock in another headlock. After a few more minutes of mat wrestling, Kelly strikes with a clothesline. Then she goes up top and connects with yet another clothesline. Kelly tries picking Leyla up, but Leyla kicks Kelly and pulls Kelly’s hair to slam her down. At this point, Leyla begins working on Kelly’s arm as she ties it around the ropes. Then Leyla positions Kelly in the middle of the ring and applies an arm submission hold. Afterwards, Leyla attempts to hit a suplex which is countered and after a series of reversals, Kelly hits a modified facebuster (kind of like the Playmaker) for the win. (3/5. Pretty good divas bout. A lot of mat wrestling involved as Kelly continues to impress.)

Match 3: Mike Knox v. Kofi Kingston
Knox backs Kingston into the corner and doges a few strike attacks from Knox. Kingston tries locking in a reverse gut wrench and kicks Knox’s leg to ground the big man. After a couple of back and forth action, there comes a point where Knox attempts to hit a hip toss, but Kingston hits an amazing judo flip like counter. Few minutes later, we see Kingston connect with his leaping hurricanranna punching combos on the turnbuckle. Kingston chops and dropkicks Knox down a few times and his signature double leg drop. Finally Kingston hits the Jamaican Buzzsaw kick for win. (3/5. Nice wrestling shown by Kingston. This kid’s got talent.)

    Punk promo airs

Miz & Morrison makes their way down to the ring.

    -Commercial-

Miz & Morrison are on the mic and after hyping themselves up (Tuesday Night Delight, Chick Magnet, etc.), they say that in life there are winners and losers, and their ‘opponents’ are nothing but losers.

    Match 4: John Morrison w/Miz v. Tommy Dreamer w/Delaney
Crowd is behind Dreamer. Dreamer starts the match off with a leg sweep into a headlock. However, Morrison finds a way out and delivers a few back clubs to Dreamer. Morrison attempts to hit a crossbody, but Dreamer catches him and hits a fallaway slam sending Morrison to the outside in the process. Dreamer then connects with a running clothesline from the apron and crashes onto Morrison. Dreamer sends Morrison back into the ring and referee is distracted checking on him. As Dreamer uses the steel steps to walk back into the ring, Miz runs and trips Dreamer and Dreamer’s arm crashes the steel pretty hard! Morrison capitalizes with a knee to Dreamers lower abdomen. Morrison continues to damage Dreamer hitting a gut slam and applying an abdominal stretch. Morrison then attempts to hit the move where he leaps over the ropes and hits a dropkick, but Dreamer dodges it and throws a few punches at Morrison. Dreamer builds on the momentum as he connects with a swinging neckbreaker. At this point, Miz causes a distraction and from behind, Morrison hits a kick to Dreamer’s head. Morrison then walks over and kicks Delaney down and turns his attention back on Dreamer. Morrison attempts to hit his signature corkscrew neckbreaker, but Dreamer reverses it and spikes Morrison with a DDT for the victory. (Rating: 3/5. Pretty solid match between the two with some good drama added to it. Though I think Morrison should compete as a singles wrestler, I would like to see a tag team match between the two teams for the championships.)

Post-Match: Miz comes up from behind and attacks both Dreamer and Delaney. Morrison gets up and tosses Dreamer out of the ring and the champions assault Delaney with multiple kicks. Before they exit, Miz and Morrison hits what is a suplex into a powerbomb move on Delaney. (Nice Move!)

We see Mark Henry backstage about to make his way into the arena.

    -Commercial-

Both men are about to lockup, but Chavo’s song hits the arena and he makes his way down to the ring. Punk signals for the ECW Championship.

Main Event: CM Punk v. Mark Henry
Mark Henry backs Punk near the turnbuckle, but Punk manages to escape and strikes with a few low kicks to the knee of Henry. Punk then throws a few punches and runs to the ropes in an attempt to clothesline the World’s Strongest Man with full adrenaline, but Mark Henry just uses his body to act as wall and just rams down Punk. Punk, who is hurt, is grasping for air. In the corner, Henry steps on top of the fallen Punk pressing all 400+ pounds against Punk’s chest. Henry bodyslams Punk in the center of the ring and tries nailing an elbow drop, but only miss. Punk strikes back with a few more kicks and backs Henry up in the corner. Punk hits his knee lift maneuver and when he goes for the bulldog, Henry lifts and hurls Punk about 5 feet away and then Punk eventually rolls the outside. Henry grabs Punk and rams Punk’s back into the steel post. Henry then sends Punk back into the ring and applies a choke hold on Punk while Punk is on the ropes. Refusing to let go of the hold, the referee counts to 5 and disqualifies Henry. (3/5. I was very lenient with this match when it comes to ratings. Punk did a great job selling the blows. By the way, what the heck is Henry doing switching among all 3 brands over the last few weeks?)

Post-Match: Chavo gets on the ring apron and yells at Henry to inflict some more damage to Punk. Henry does, but Punk enzigiri kicks Henry almost hitting Chavo. Punk pulls Chavo inside the ring and hits the GTS for the win.

    Quick Match Result:
    -Stevie Richards defeated Rory Foxx
    -Kelly Kelly defeated Leyla
    -Kofi Kingston defeated Mike Knox
    -Tommy Dreamer defeated John Morrison
-CM Punk defeated Mark Henry via DQ.

Highlight of the Night: Hard one to choose from this week as every match was about equal to the others. However, the fans seemed to enjoy the Richards/Foxx match the most as well as the opening segment.

Overall tonight’s show was good. The Houston crowd is always into wrestling just as I am. There is no doubt that it could have easily been better. So I’ll give the show a 6/10 and call it a night.

Be sure to tune in next week to catch the No Way Out fallout.
