Hello Everyone! I started the SmackDown! Reports just last week and unfortunately I already have to leave due to working conflicts. But I will not be out for good so catch me time to time over LOP and possibly back on the reports as I will be a substitute from after this point on.

Tonight’s broadcast is from Boston MA! After the SmackDown! video package, we immediately here a voice wanting the audience’s attention. Who could it possibly be? Well, its non other than the Rated R Superstar Edge! He tells everyone to quiet down and then welcomes back the GM of SmackDown! Vickie Guerrero. A lot of heat here. Teddy Long rolls Vickie down in a wheel chair as we see Vickie wearing a neck brace. Edge says this innocent woman was attacked viciously by the Undertaker and deserves to be punished. Vickie then speaks. She begins by saying that she is mentally scarred and emotionally distraught. She says she is even thinking of having some psychological help. LOL! Then she gets serious and says that she has returned to SmackDown! to fulfill her duties as GM. She then says that the three men who are competing in the triple threat match for the World Championship will all be in action tonight. She says that up first is Edge. Edge says that he is not prepared and doesn’t even know who is opponent and asks Vickie if this is such a good idea. Vickie says that her decision is final as Edges music plays and he makes his way down to the ring with a worried expression on his face. Edge awaits his opponent and it’s….Funaki! Edge has a huge smile on his face as we are set for the first match of the evening.

    Segment Rating: 6/10

    Match 1: Edge vs. Funaki
Edge backs Funaki in the corner as the match gets underway. Edge then goes onto give a little slap on Funaki’s face telling him to toughen up. The two square off once more and Edge tries decking Funaki and this time Funaki dodges it and slaps Edge on the face telling him to toughen up. Edge charges at Funaki and Funaki trips Edge. Funaki plays to the crowd, however Edge gets up and big boots Funaki. Edge toys with Funaki but Funaki kicks Edge in the abdomen and proceeds to hit a bulldog. Funaki grabs Edge and goes onto the top rope in an attempt to hit a tornado DDT. Edge however counters it in mid-air as he throws Funaki halfway across the ring. Edge hits the Edgucution and signals for the spear. He hits it and this one is over.

Rating: 5.5/10. Decent match that is passable. It was just put on the card to hype Edge up for Armageddon. Furthermore, the commentary of JBL was too hilarious as he was considering Funaki to be an actual top contender to Edge and then went on to mock is English which is why this was entertaining enough.

After the match, Vickie tells everyone that tonight Batista will go one-on-one against Kane in a Last Man Standing Match! Also the Undertaker will be in a Handicap Match against Mark Henry and Big Daddy V!

As Michelle McCool comes down in preparation for her tag team match, we are shown a WWE exclusive video of last week when Palumbo lost to Noble and the backstage interaction between McCool and Palumbo. Palumbo basically says there was some fault on McCool for Palumbo’s loss to Noble last week.

Match 2: Michelle McCool & Kelly vs. Victoria Layla
Less than average match between the divas as they wrestled back and forth with a few momentum shifts. A lot of submission holds were applied which caused the match to progress slowly. Towards the end of the match, Kenny Dykstra comes out and trips McCool. This causes Palumbo to come down on his bike and chase Dykstra away. McCool looks on at Palumbo, but is rolled up by Victoria as she loses.

Rating: 4.5/10. This match was very poor in quality and seemed to come out of nowhere despite the interaction these women had on ECW.

Back we see McCool attending to Palumbo and they discuss what happened just before the break. She blames Palumbo and mentions his recent bad luck streak. Frustrated, Palumbo punches the wall next to McCool’s head and actually breaks a hole into it before angrily stomping away.

MVP is shown set to do commentary for our next match.

Match 3: Rey Mysterio vs. Kenny Dykstra
As the match gets underway, Dykstra is in control. Minutes later, Mysterio gains momentum by nailing a few dropkicks and sending Dykstra to the outside. A lot of back and forth action occur here, but eventually Rey nails a kick to the head of Dykstra, but Dykstra manages to kick out at 2. Rey picks Dykstra up, but Dykstra strikes with a few punches and attempts a few grapple holds. The finish came when Dykstra lifted Rey up in the Outsiders Edge position, but Rey reversed it into a hurricanrana sending Dykstra to the ropes. Rey hits the 619 and connects with the Dropping the Dime for the victory.

After the match, MVP gets in the ring with a mic. He tells Rey to take it easy and congratulates Rey on the victory. MVP offers a handshake but Rey declines. MVP makes Rey believe that Dykstra is getting up to attack Rey from behind so Mysterio turns his back to MVP. MVP sees the opportunity to strike and indeed does so as he clobbers Rey with the US Title and leaves him lying in the middle of the ring.

Rating: 6/10. As a whole, this wasn’t too bad to watch, but wasn’t what I expected. The Rey/MVP match scheduled for Armageddon is not planning out as it should…its getting boring.

Match 4: Last Man Standing Match: Kane vs. Batista
Both men begin with a staredown. Crowd is split 60/40 in Batista’s favor. Batista strikes first and the two begin probably what is the slowest match of the night. Kane hits an early chokeslam, but Batista rises before the 10 count and minutes later hits a Batista Bomb, but Kane gets up before the 10 count as well. Eventually, the fight rolls to the outside where much of the match is spent. Batista spears Kane into the apron and then lifts him up and slams him down to the outside floor. Several minutes later, Kane regains momentum and crashes Batista into the barricade. Kane then big boots the animal and he falls into the crowd. The referee begins the 10 count, but Batista gets up at 9 much to the delight of some of the fans. Kane then proceeds to ram the animal into the steel steps and could be heard yelling “Stay Down!” Batista manages to make it to his feet, but Kane knocks him down yet again. Kane then sets the steel steps up next to the announcers table and grabs Batista. As he attempts to chokeslam the animal through the table, Batista counters and hits a spinebuster to Kane on the table. The table however DOES NOT break! And Kane is out. Edge, out of the crowd, emerges and spears Batista. Both men are down and the referee begins the 10 count. Batista however, somehow manages to get back to his feet at 8 and flips Edge and in the process wins the match as Kane could not get up from the spinebuster.

After the match, Edge grabs a steel chair and whacks Batista right on the back. He then walks away with a sadistic smirk on his face.

Rating: 7/10. This was probably the least brutal last man standing match in history. Hardly any weapons were introduced in the match, but the end of the match was the savior. The table not breaking when Batista spinebustered Kane was just awful, but the interference from Edge worked well when it comes to grading this match.

We are in the backstage area where Edge approaches Vickie. He displays a concerned look for Vickie and asks her if she needs something. Vickie asks for 2 aspirins and some coffee. Edge turns his attention to Teddy Long and tells him to go get them. Once Long leaves, Edge & Vickie share a wet kiss!

Match 5: Festus w/ Jesse vs. Miz w/ Morrison
As the bell rings, Miz looks concerned. He then is humored by Festus’s behavior, but is immediately dropped. Festus is pretty much in control most of the match until Morrison helps distract Festus. Miz strikes with a few dropkicks, but in the end, Festus held Miz up in the firemen’s carry position, knocked Morrison off the apron using Miz’s leg, and finally flapjacked Miz for the win.

Rating: 5/10. Pretty much a filler match just like the earlier Divas contest, but just with a little bit more speed and better action.

Teddy Long, who looks depressed from taking Vickie’s order, comes down to the ring and announces that Hornswoggle is in action next against the Great Khali.

    COMMERCIAL

Match 6: Hornswoggle vs. The Great Khali
Hornswoggle looks scared before the match even starts. Finlay’s music hits and he makes his way down to the ring with a shillelagh in hand. Hornswoggle looks relieved and watches on as Finlay enters the ring. Finlay strikes with the weapon at Khali’s leg twice before the referee snatches it away from him. Khali is down in the corner and Finlay continues to beat Khali down with punches and headbutts. From behind, Ranjin Singh grabs Hornswoggle and threatens to hurt him if Finlay does not stop the assault on Khali. Finlay charges and hits a clothesline on Singh. When Finlay turns around, Khali brain chops Finlay and proceeds to hit a Khali Bomb. Hornswoggle looks on in terror for the second week in a row.

Rating: 5.5/10. Not really a match, but a bit of an interesting segment. It was nice seeing Finlay standing up for himself against the supposed monster.

Backstage, Michelle McCool and Kelly are chatting and walk into the locker room. The room is decorated with flowers, balloons and gifts. Noble appears and says that he is ready for his date with McCool and says that he has a special dress he wants McCool to wear. McCool believes the gifts and decorations are sweet as we go to break.

Match 7: Handicap Match: Undertaker vs. Big Daddy V & Mark Henry
Yet another slow paced match with the super-heavyweights. Match begins with Undertaker trying a way to shove off one of the guys until he is cornered and pretty much dominated for a boring 5 minutes. Towards the end of the match, V rams right into Taker in the corner and traps him. Henry thinks about doing the same, but Taker elbows V and moves out of the way causing Henry to slam into V. Taker punches Henry and sends him to the ropes and out of nowhere hits a chokeslam for the quick win. Crowd seems to like what they see.

After the bout, V clotheslines Taker and hammers him down. Taker finally strikes and strikes again. Henry comes up from behind, but Taker begins striking Henry. V gets mad and chokebombs Taker. The two then put Taker on their shoulder and double torture rack him stretching his arms and legs. Edge makes his way down to the ring and smiles. Edge then mocks Taker by going down to one knee and saluting the dead-man just as he does as SmackDown! goes off the air.

Rating: 6/10. This was a lackluster main event that could have done a lot better. Mark Henry is just terrible and should not be main eventing SmackDown! ever again! I gave this match the benefit of the doubt since Taker really tried making the match look good.

Overall Show: 6/10. Tonight’s show was decent. The specialty matches did not live up to its hype which came down as a big disappointment, but did help progress the main triple threat feud heading into Armageddon which is a good thing. Let’s see who walks out of the PPV as champion. The upcoming weeks should be interesting to note since WrestleMania is after all just a few months away.

On a side note, I would like to compliment Donny Anderson (RAW Reporter) and MIK (ECW Reporter) for the wonderful amount of work and time they have spent for LOP. I wish I could write the reports longer just as they do, but unfortunately, we must let go of a few things every now and then. Until the time comes again, Goodbye!
