Tuesdays 10/9 CT
Good evening to all! Tonight, on All Hollow’s Eve, 4 monsters will battle and 1 will be left standing. Also, contenders collide as John Morrison and The Miz battle for an opportunity to challenge CM Punk for the ECW championship next week. Who will emerge victorious tonight? Let’s find out!
We begin with a promo hyping tonight’s Monster Mash Battle Royal. Tazz and Styles introduce us to ECW as we are shown that the stage is decorated to be spooky with all sorts of Halloween designs (zombie, mummy, spider, web, smoke, etc.)
Elijah Burke music hits as he makes his way down to the ring. During his entrance, we are notified that tomorrow Burke will be on Ghost Hunter as one of the reporters. Jimmy Wang Yang comes out to a decent pop from the audience and we are ready for our first match of the evening.
Match 1: Elijah Burke v. Jimmy Wang Yang
Match starts with an early headlock takedown by Burke as Wang manages to fight out of it and eventually sweeps Burke and nails a standing back moonsault. Burke gets back on the offensive and rams Yangs shoulder right in to the ring post knocking him to the outside. Burke then sends Yang to the ring steps and he appears to be in a great deal of pain. Burke tosses Yang back in the ring and signals for his outer limits elbow drop, but instead he drops his knee to Yang’s elbow joint. Ouch! Burke then applies a wristlock but Yang fights back. However, Burke knees Yang in his lower abdomen and then proceeds to nail a modified shoulder-breaker. Burke looks to apply the wristlock again, but this time it is countered and Yang leg sweeps Burke. He then follows through with a few clotheslines. At this point, an awkward position occurs as Yang dropkicks Burke to the outside, but Yang seems to be hurt. Burke sees an opportunity to strike and goes up on top, but as he comes down, Yang back spin kicks Burke right in the jaw! WOW! Both men down. Yang is up first and tries to finish Burke off with his moonsault press, but Burke dodges it and sends Yang once more into the steel posts. Burke then signals for the Elijah Express and nails it. This bout is over as Burke celebrates. (Rating: 2.5. Nice opening match. Both men showed great wrestling skills as this match was given enough time for showing. Yang proves that he can be creative when working with others in the ring while Burke simply continues to get better overall as a wrestler.)
-We are then shown a promo hyping tonight’s Monster Mash Battle Royal. Styles says that there will be nearly a 1 ton of humanitarian weight in tonights Main Event.-
-Kane promo airs. He says that he has dealt with monsters and demons in the past and tonight is a dream come true for him.-

-Raw Rebound: Handicap Main Event where HBK came down to the ring to rescue his DX partner HHH.-
-Nunzio is shown dressed up as Dracula. He is with a group of kids dressed in different Halloween costumes. They go trick-o-treating and run into Mahoney. Mahoney gives the kids candy and tells them to have fun. They continue and run into Punks locker room. Punk gives the candy and Nunzio isn’t impressed with Punk and calls him an idiot for not being dresses up. Punk is amused at Nunzio’s costume and gives the kids candy before he walks off. Lastly, Nunzio and the kids approach a door. When they knock, the automatically opens and out comes the Boogeyman! Nunzio runs off scared and the Boogeyman gives the kids worms as they are terrified.-

Back, we are shown apples, pies, and whip cream around the ring. Out comes Nunzio and we are told that we are about to have a Halloween Costume Extreme Rules Match. His opponent is Tommy Dreamer who is dressed up as Paul Heyman.
Match 2: Halloween Costume Extreme Rules Match
The beginning of the match is dominated by Dreamer as he pounds on little Nunzio. However at one point, Nunzio manages to knock Dreamer out of the ring and then baseball slides Dreamer right into the announce table. Nunzio attempts a leap frog, but misses. Dreamer then breaks a plastic pumpkin on Nunzio’s back. He then proceeds to splatter a pie on Nunzio’s face. Nunzio kicks Dreamer hard and sends him to the steel steps. He grabs apples and begins chunking them towards Dreamer. He then gets the cream and tries to blind Dreamer with it, but Dreamer strikes at Nunzio with a punch and drowns him in the bucket of water filled with apples. Back in the ring, Dreamer whacks Nunzio with the bucket and puts Nunzio in the Tree of Woe position with the steel bucket in front of his head. Then Dreamer dropkicks the bucket which smashes on Nunzios face. Dreamer then spikes Nunzio with his DDT and the match is over. (Rating: 2.5. Not bad. There is a reason why ECW is on Sci-Fi and this match showed just why. The concept of this match on this given night was creative and was entertaining enough to watch. It was hilarious that Tazz & Styles tried to appeal to the audience by questioning who Dreamer was dressed as since Heyman is no longer with the company.)
Post-Match: Dreamer celebrates with the fans. John Morrison and the Miz are up next.
-Khali promo airs. He can crush anyone who comes into his path.

-RAW promo: DX and Austin to be on RAW this Monday in a cant miss RAW of the year!-
Match 3: Miz v. Morrison
Early lock-up followed by a quick rollup by Morrison. Miz gets back up but only to be shoved back down to the ground. Morrison then sweeps Miz, but Miz retaliates with 2 hard slaps to Morrison’s face. Morrison is angry and charges at Miz, but is tripped and Miz begins to be in control of the match. Miz then knocks Morrison out of the ring and dropkicks Morrison to the barricade. When Miz goes out of the ring, he is suddenly finds himself in danger as Morrison flapjacks Miz onto the barricade. Both men back in the ring, Morrison attempts his move where he hops onto the ropes and attacks with a kick to the head, but Miz dodges it and attacks with a few clotheslines of his own. Miz then nails a modified Face buster and quickly goes for the pin, but Morrison kicks out at 2. Miz places Morrison on the ropes and attempts to run towards Morrison, but Morrison finds an opportunity to kick Miz on his ribs as Miz took too much time trying to get on the offensive. As Miz is holding his ribs, Morrison nails his corkscrew neck-breaker for the win. (Rating: 2.5. This match was kind of rushed, but still found a way to deliver. It is hard to get an audience to get into the match when a heel is taking on another heel. But I judged this match on pure wrestling skills and quality of the match itself. Overall, both these men put on a decent show).
-Henry Promo airs. His malicious intent is his only desire.-
-Commercial-
-Big Daddy V Promo airs. Claims he is the most dominant force on ECW.-
We see Morrison on commentary as we are set for our next match.
Match 4: CM Punk v. James Curtis (aka KC James)
Crowd is hot for Punk. Match begins with a few strikes from Curtis to Punk. Curtis then sets Punk near the turnbuckle and strikes Punks abdomens with his shoulder. Curtis goes back and attempts a hard clothesline, but Punk dodges it and nails his signature knee to the face which is followed by his leaping clothesline from the top rope. Punk nails the GTS and this match is over. Immediately following the match, Morrison rushes into the ring and attacks Punk maliciously. Morrison then hits another corkscrew neck-breaker and exits the ring staring back at Punk saying that next week he will regain his ECW title. (Rating: 2. I rated this more as a segment than a match as it was too quick. This was simply a filler just to hype the Punk/Morrison title match scheduled for next week. As for the wrestling, it wasn’t too good, but definitely wasn’t too bad.)

Match 5: Monster Mash Battle Royal (over the top rope)
All men are gathered in the ring and the three heels look at one another and decide to form an alliance to eliminate Kane. Kane somehow manages to dodge the three heels when they get near him. Frustrated, Big V asks Henry why he is too slow and isn’t doing anything right. There arguing leads the two to battle each other while Kane and Khali are going at it on the opposite side of the ring. Khali is in control of Kane while Big V and Henry are still going at it. It appears to be a stale mate between Big V and Henry. The two bounce off the ropes and tackles each other so hard that both men fall and are temporarily grounded. Meanwhile, Khali big boots Kane and Khali is standing alone, but not for long as Henry gets up and lifts Khali up in the torture rack position. Kane uppercuts Henry and Henry releases Khali. Kane then focuses his attention on Big Daddy V. The two battle for quite some time and Big V is calling for the end of the match. He charges at Kane, who is on the turnbuckle, but Kane moves and big boots Big V, but just can’t get the behemoth over the top rope. Khali then assists Kane as the two double team Big V. They then choke Big V and Kane goes for a clotheline. Big Daddy V is eliminated and is furious. From behind, Khali applies his vice grip to Kane, but Henry helps. Not too long after, Khali applies the vice grip Henry. Kane then returns the favor as he works with Henry to double clothesline Khali out of the ring. Two men left in the ring. Kane and Henry stare each other down and the crowd cheers for Kane. Minutes of back and forth action between the two occur, but in the end, Kane gets the upper hand after he delivers a big boot to Henry, but Henry does not fall! Kane decides goes up on top for his clothesline. He jumps but is caught in a belly to belly position. Henry manhandles Kane by throwing Kane over the top ropes as if Kane was a rag doll. (Rating: 3. WOW. The length of the match was short due to the number of matches in the night, but it was very surprising to see Henry’s hand raised at the end of the match. Many expected Big V or Kane to be the victor. Overall, this match was interesting due to the massiveness of each individual.)

Highlight of the Night: Monster Mash Battle Royal
Tonight’s show was excellent. Maybe it was because of all the Halloween hype, etc. but don’t let that take away from the broadcast ratings. The concept of Halloween seems to be perfect for ECW and should be used every year. There were 5 matches tonight and all of the matches scored a rating of a 2.5 or more with the exception of the Punk/Curtis match. For an hour long program, if you missed tonight’s show, you missed a good show, but remember you can always catch the replay on WWE.Com. 6.5/10. Have a happy and safe Halloween folks!
