    Raw Report 10/29/2007

After a new montage to the Papa Roach theme, Raw goes LIVE from the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, PA, only on the USA Network!

We open with the Diva's Halloween Battle Royal!Diva Halloween Battle Royal

    Entrants:

    Maria
    Mickie
    Tori Wilson
    Victoria
    Kelly Kelly
    Brooke
    Layla
    Melina
    Jillian Hall
    Michelle McCool

We erupt into bedlam, as all the Diva's attack each other. Layla is eliminated first, followed by Brooke. Michelle McCool eliminates Jillian, and is then eliminated herself. Melina and Mickie eliminate each other, leaving Kelly Kelly, Victoria, and Tori in the ring against each other. Tori knocks down Victoria (in sumo costume), and her and Kelly push her out of the ring. Finally, Tori is knocked out by Kelly Kelly!

    Your Winner: Kelly Kelly

Match Rating: B- (Pretty Standard fare with a Halloween twist. The Phoenix interference was expected, but it keeps her at the top of the Diva Food Chain, and that makes me happy. Battle Royals are always fun)

Beth Phoenix's music hits, and the Glamazon comes down. Kelly tries to get out of the ring, but Melina and Jillian throw her back in, and she gets squashed by Phoenix. Phoenix stands tall and makes her way to the back as Kelly lays unconscious in the ring.

Afterwards, we get a recap of Shawn Michael's match with Randy Orton last night at Cyber Sunday, and JR announces that Shawn Michaels is going to be on next!

    -commercial break-

HBK's music hits, and Shawn Michaels appears to quite an ovation! Shawn comes to the ring and, after pandering to the crowd a bit, he grabs a mic. He thanks everyone who voted for him into the match at Cyber Sunday, and says he's got good news and bad news. The good news is that once again, he knocked Randy Orton out cold with some Sweet Chin Music. The Bad news is that he doesn't have the WWE championship. He says Orton intentionally got himself disqualified last night, and since he won the match, he gets a rematch... which he wants RIGHT NOW.

Vince McMahon's music hits, and the Chairman struts down to the ring. VKM asks how many people want to see a rematch. Everyone cheers a resounding "Yes." Vince asks Shawn what he's doing... that there's something else Shawn wants more than the WWE Championship: revenge. Vince has known Shawn since he was 23 years old, and deep down, there's a part of his soul that's rotten, and there's not a thing Shawn can do about it. Shawn admits it. He sat home for 4 months, leaving the industry for the second time. He says the next time he leaves, it will be on his terms. Randy tried to change that, and he can't have that. HBK wants to take out Randy, and asks if he can have his rematch or not. Vince says that Survivor Series is an aptly named PPV, and Shawn's got his rematch. But, what will he do about it? Shawn throws a superkick to Vince, but intentionally misses, having Vince cower and get out of the ring.

    -commercial break-

Hardcore Holly comes out, and he is joined by Cody Rhodes for this tag-team match with the Worlds Greatest Tag Team!

Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes v. WGTT

Holly starts off against Shelton, with Benjamin getting the advantage early. Shelton tags in Haas, who punishes Holly in the cornerwith some punches. Holly tries to make a comeback, but Haas beats him with a waistlock, putting him on the ground. After quick tags, Haas is back in, but gets caught with a dropkick by Holly. Holly tags in in Cody who hits a shoulderblock off the top ropes, and a dropkick for a 1 count. Cody hits a powerslam on Haas, but Shelton breaks up the pin. Holly rushes in and knocks Shelton out of the ring, and the two begin to brawl outside of the ring. Cody hits Haas with a DDT, and gets the win!

    Your Winners: Holly and Rhodes

Match Rating: C (This was actually a bit of a snore. None of the wrestlers had a fire lit underneath of them, and try his hardest, Cody just couldn't get the crowd behind him. I think the crowd is sort of confused. They can't really cheer for Holly, while WGTT are the heels... so it only leaves Cody out there. Either way, we'll see where this Holly/Rhodes team goes.)

    -commercial break-

We get an update on Candace Michelle. Apparently she broke her clavicle in two places, but will be back in a few weeks. Get Well Soon!

Todd Grisham is in the back with Beth Phoenix. Beth says she has no regrets over what happened. She was making a statement. All other Divas want to dress up and be something they're not. Candace tried to be more than just a pretty face, but after those months of training, all of it has been nothing. She should go back to Wisconsin and tell her friends that her hopes and dreams have been crushed by the Glamazon.

Mickie walks up and talks to Murdoch, thanking him for pushing her out of the way and taking a clothesline for her. Murdoch says it was just instinct, and he did what he had to do to protect an innocent girl. She says she's not that innocent. Cade walks up, and Mickie leaves. Cade says Mickie is way out of Murdoch's league, and he needs Murdoch to be 100% focused. Cade needs Murdoch in his corner tonight.

Regal is talking to McMahon. He says they don't need anymore injuries, so why book HHH in a handicap match tonight? VKM says tonight is personal. VKM then asks where the little toad, his son Hornswoggle, is. Regal says he's outside, and brings him in. Vince asks Regal to leave, and Regal exits. Vince sits Hornswoggle down, and says that in order to be a McMahon, Hornswoggle must stand on his own two feet, which is why there is a match between Hornswoggle and Coach tonight. Every man must know humiliation and what it's like to be knocked down; and if you're a McMahon, you get back up everytime until they can't knock you down again. Also, you have to know how to deal with victory and success. As a McMahon, it will become his rightful thing to do: be successful. When you're successful, you get it all. Hornswoggle must learn that, if he's a McMahon, he must learn to hate. If you can't hate, you can't be successful. Vince tells Hornswoggle to show him his hate in the match against Coach, next!

    -commercial break-

We're back from commercial to see yet another saveus.222 promo, this time with rather epic music. Still, nothing more comes from this.

Back in the arena, Coach's music hits and he comes out for this match with Hornswoggle. Soon after Hornswoggle hits the ring and this match is underway.

    Coach v. Hornswoggle

Before the match starts, we get the announcement that there is a special guest referee...Mick Foley. The Hardcore Legend gets quite an ovation, and Hornswoggle hugs his leg. Coach looks confused.

Okay, on to the match. Coach tries to run at Hornswoggle, but Foley stops him and says something to him. Then Foley says to go ahead. Coach gets Hornswoggle into the corner and pushes him around, but Hornswoggle steps on his foot and then dropkicks his leg. Hornswoggle mounts Coach and rides him like a donkey. Coach gets back up and lifts Horswoggle, but is bitten in the ear. Coach drops the little guy and is dropkicked again. Hornswoggle covers, but Coach easily kicks out on a one count. Hornswoggle climbs the bottom rope and tries for an elbow drop, but Coach moves. Coach now has the advantage. Foley stops him from capitalizing, and Coach hits Foley from behind. Coach now climbs outside and grabs a chair. He gets back in and attempts to hit Hornswoggle, but Foley is now up and takes the chair from Coach. Foley knocks Coach down and pulls out a sock for Mr. Socko, but then pulls out a smaller one and gives it to Hornswoggle. Hornswoggle puts in on, and Coach is up. Foley looks to hit Coach, to which Coach turns into a Mandible Claw from Hornswoggle...on his crotch. Coach is in pain, and Foley gives a clothesline. Hornswoggle now mounts the TOP rope and hits a frog splash for the win.

    Your Winner: Hornswoggle

Coach is in pain in the ring, and looks rather embarassed, and Hornswoggle is happy with himself as he walks to the back, followed by Mrs. Foley's baby boy.

Match Rating: C+ (Entertaining for what it was. It was kind of funny to see Hornswoggle go off the top rope with a "Toad" splash (since Vince called him a toad earlier). All in all it was an entertaining segment, but not a match.)

Todd Grisham is in the back with none other than Triple H. Grisham reminds us all of the beatings Triple H has taken over the weeks, and says that tonight doesn't look good. Triple H thanks him for the pep talk. He doesn't know what he'd do without Todd there to remind him of the tragedy in his life. He says that the odds don't look good, but that he always has an ace up his sleeve, and that if he goes down, he's taking Orton and Umaga with him. He says that if they're two of the biggest and best in the game, that he IS the Game.

    -commercial break-

    Paul London v. Lance Cade

London up early, dodging everything Cade threw at him, and hitting a crossbody. Cade finally grabs London and hits a belly to back suplex, getting a 2 count. Cade starts working on London with blows to the back. London counters with a standing hurricanrana, but is quickly thrown out of the ring. Murdoch nearly interferes, but Kendrick comes in, goes outside, and hits a splash to the outside. Inside of the ring, London goes for a sunset flip over the ropes, but gets only a 2 count. Cade then hits a sit-down spinebuster for the win.

    Your Winner: Lance Cade

Match Rating: B (Fast paced matchup that had both guys working hard to keep it going at a fast pace. Cade can really move in the ring, and sold well to London's lighter attacks. The size difference is a hard thing to overcome, but these men did it believably, and that's commendable.)

The Highlanders music hits, and they come in and attack London and Kendrick, hitting the reverse double springboard suplex on both London and Kendrick. The Scotsman then stare down Cade and Murdoch, sending a message to the World Tag team Champs.

    -commercial break-

Jeff Hardy and DH Smith v. Kennedy and Carlito

Hardy and Kennedy start things off, with Hardy getting put down with a shoulderblock, but coming back with a clothesline. Back and forth action, until Kennedy tags in Carlito, who comes in and starts hammering away on Jeff in the corner. Hardy blocks a punch and starts hitting back, responding with a reverse mule kick. Hardy gets a 2 count, then tags in Smith. Smithworks on Carlito's arm, but Carlito throws a knee, getting the upper hand. Carlito then catches a back body drop, followed by a clothesline that sends Carlito out of the ring. Kennedy gets in the ring, but Hardy meets him and tosses him out of the ring as well. Hardy and Smith are on top as Raw goes to commercial...

    -commercial break-

We come back to Carlito having Smith in a leglock, but Smith powers out. Carlito tags in Kennedy, and starts working the same leg Carlito was hurting. The King reveals that DH is an homage to his father, Davey Boy, and the Hart family. Kennedy continues to kick the leg, but Smith starts fighitn back. Kennedy cheap shots Hardy, and then Carlito comes in, but no tag is made. Finally, the ref seperates them and makes them tag Carlito in. Carlito with a atomic knee drop onto Smith, then tags in Kennedy. Kennedy grabs the leg and hits a leg-lace takedown. He goes for it again, but DH hits the enziguiri. DH gets the hot tag, and attacks carlito with the wrap around clothesline, followed by the whisper in the wind. Hardy gets a 2 count, when Kennedy interferes. DH dodges a Kennedy attack, sending Kennedy outside, and Hardy gets the upperhand, hitting the twist of fate, followed by a Swanton bomb for the win!

Match Rating: B+ (Wow. I'm impressed with all four of these guys, and two weeks into Raw, Smith has a fan in me. This match had everything: Good psychology, excellent "Face in peril," and a pace that kept you watching. Definitely the best match of the night so far.)

    -commercial break-

Santino Marella comes down to the ring. He grabs the mic and says he's here to make a formal complaint to the WWE Travel Department, because he was prevented from making it to Cyber Sunday and giving Stone Cold a piece of his mind. He says at least the in flight movie wasn't "the Condemned."

    Austin's Music hits!

But instead of Austin, we get Marella in a fake bald cap and mustache in a premade video pretending to be Stone Cold. Marella, as Stone Cold, says that Santino should have been the star of the Condemned, and that he's a rising star on RAW. Santino, back in the ring, thanks "Steve Austin" for his honesty. He calls Maria to the ring, who says "He will be here next week." Santino asks who? Possibly Ben Franklin or maybe Tom Hanks from Philadlephia with the Aids. Maria says no, that Stone Cold will be at RAW next week! Marella says Maria heard it wrong, Stone Cold won't be there; the only place to find Stone Cold is in the copies of the Condemned, at gas stations with Lilian Garcia's CD.

    -commercial break-

Todd Grisham is now on the entrance ramp, and he talks a little about the process of the Diva Search, saying that tonight we find out who the winner will be. He introduces both finalists: Brooke and Eve.

    And the winner is...

    Frank Stallone!

    Congratulations Frank Stallone.

    (ok, i'm kidding...i couldn't help myself...apologies in advance...)

    The NEW WWE Diva is...

    EVE TORRES!

Eve Torres wins, and celebrates by thanking the crowd.

Another 222 promo... weird, 2 in the same night...

Orton's music hits, and it's time for the main event!

    -commercial break-

Orton and Umaga v. Triple H

HHH starts off against Umaga, and the two trade blows. HHH gets the advantage, but Orton interferes. HHH gets out of the ring, brings Orton with him, and throws him into the guard rail. HHH back into the ring, and he throws Umaga out. HHH grabs Randy on the apron and throws him back in the ring, putting him into the corner. Umaga tries to hit the splash, but hits Orton when HHH moves. HHH goes for the pedigree on Orton, but Umaga hits HHH. both men are now pounding HHH in the corner. Triple H tries to fight back, and has some success, but runs straight into a samoan drop. Orton and Umaga just start destroying HHH. Shawn Michaels hits the ring and dumps Orton out quickly, and then HHH and Shawn both clothesline Umaga out. Shawn and HHH are celebrating in the ring, with both men giving Crotch chops. Regal and McMahon are talking in the back, and McMahon says next week, for one night only, we'll have the return of DX. Regal says McMahon has outdone himself, but Vince has an evil look on his face. Back in the ring, HHH and Shawn are still standing tall.

    Your Winner: No Contest

Match Rating: B (This was underwhelming, and a little predictable, but it was watchable. Triple H dominated a little too much early, but once the beatdown started, Umaga and Orton looked strong.)

    Final Grade: B-

This was a lackluster Raw. The night after a Pay-Per-View is always essential as far as storyline progression goes, but this... this just left me wanting both more and less simultaneously. It seems like they're stalling on some things. The whole Saveus.222 thing is becoming tiresome. We don't know what it is, but we're ready to find out. Enough is enough with that. The Santino-Stone Cold thing is growing tired as well. This was one of the most disappointing Raws in awhile. Ah well, we'll see what next week brings. Match of the night goes to Hardy/Smith v. Kennedy/Carlito.

Questions and Comments, as always, can be sent to DonnyAnderson@gmail.com. Thanks, and everyone have a great week!
