TNA News: Update on Sting's possible retirement, Joey Matthew's update, and more

  • As we reported last week, Sting was telling wrestlers backstage at the last Impact tapings that he plans on retiring at the years end. There are negotiations between TNA and Sting for a year extension to his contract. The feeling, internally, is that no one is sure if Sting will sign the extension. Dixie Carter is very high on Sting and hopes he stays with the company. If he were to sign the new deal, he would make $500,000 despite only working TV and PPV dates.

  • Joey Matthew's debut at TNA's Bound For Glory PPV was more of a tryout, rather than having plans laid out for him. Matthew's and Johnny Swinger worked a dark match at the PPV, both were wearing matching outfits. No word on whether he will be signed to the company or not. He has one thing going against him, as he is open about his past drug addiction.

  • Junior Fatu is already asking for more money. Fatu is believed to be working without a contract at this time.
