    Raw Report 10/15/2007

We begin with a recap of HBK's stunning return last week. Orton walks up to Regal in the back, and says that he's dressed to compete, and needs they all need a tune-up before Cyber Sunday. He says that the people want to see triple threat match between Jeff Hardy, Mr. Kennedy, and Shawn Michaels. Regal says that's a good idea, but doesn't agree to it. Regal says he has an announcement to make, as Raw's opening sequence begins.

Regal's music hits, and the Raw GM makes his way down to the ring. He's WAY over with his home crowd. He promises a great show tonight. Since Orton likes to do things in threes, he'll be facing all of his potential cyber sunday opponents 1 on 1 tonight. Orton v. Hardy, Orton v. Kennedy, and Orton v. HBK. So first up, is Orton v. Hardy!

    Randy Orton v. Jeff Hardy

Hardy, nursing that neck injury, looks really, really tired. Hardy with an armdrag takedown, but both men are back to their feet. Orton pushes Hardy into the corner, and begins pelting him with fists. Hardy comes back with a series of arm drag takedowns, and now Hardy takes control. A drop kick and a clothesline send Orton outside, and Hardy hits both a baseball slide and a plancha over the top rope to send Orton reeling.

    -commercial break-

We're back with Orton in control. Hardy gets back to his feet but catches a powerslam. Orton starts stomping away at Hardy, following it up with a knee drop. Orton with a sleeperhold, and Jeff is in trouble. The crowd starts the chant, and Hardy gets back to his feet. Lariat takedown by Hardy, and both men are down. Hardy back up first, and hits a series of clotheslines. Hardy hits the Whispers in the wind, and gets a 2.99999 count. Corner doublestomp by Hardy, and he sets up for the Swanton. Mr. Kennedy interferes and knocks Jeff down. RKO by Orton, and this one is over.

    Your Winner: Randy Orton

Kennedy makes the motion for the belt as Randy looks on in disbelief.

Match Rating: B (Solid opening match, but neither man's best effort. It was, good, just not great.)

    -commercial break-

Santino Marella's music hits, and he and Maria make their way down to the ring. Marella grabs the music and says it's good to be back in Europe. He says the only thing more beautiful than Europe is Maria. Then, he dogs England. Finally, he moves on to trashing "The Condemned," but is interrupted by the music of Val Venis!

    Santino Marella v. Val Venis

Val up early, with big punches and an elbow by Venis. Santino puts Val's leg in the ropes, and starts stomping it. Now the two get on the ground and start submission wrestling. Marella with a grapevine on Venis' legs, and a half-crab. Venis makes is way towards, and grabs the rope. Val hits some chops on the chest, but Santino goes after Val's leg again. Venis pushes Santino off and hits him with some back elbows and clotheslines. Santino blocks some moves, but Val finally hits a sunset flip. Santino sits on it, grabs the rope (well, barely), and gets the win.

    Your Winner: Santino Marella

Match Rating: C (Snoozefest. Venis is out of shape, and Marella is absolute garbage in the ring. The botch was Marella's fault. It's not that I don't like the gimmick of angry foreigner... it's just that Marella can't back it up in the ring so far. Perhaps he should go the road of Armando Estrada and be, as he would say, a "Manahyer"? Who knows. Val is on his last legs though... which is sad. He could have been a contender.)

In the back, Coach and Carlito are talking, with Coach holding an apple. Carlito brings up Hornswoggle, and asks how did Coach let Hornswoggle beat him with the cane. Coach says he's going to get rid of Hornswoggle tonight, and that he just needs to get him in the right place at the right time. Hornswoggle appears, steals the apple out of Coach's hands, and takes off running.

    -commercial break-

we come back, and Coach is chasing Horswoggle through the back. They go into the cafeteria, and Hornswoggle finally gets away. We have a recap of Umaga destroying Triple H last week.Vince is now in the back, and asks Regal how old the Queen is? Regal asks which one, pointing to the pictures of Queen Elizabeth, Elton John, and George Michael. Vince asks Regal where Triple H is, and Regal says he's still nursing injuries suffered at the hands of Umaga. Vince then argues with Regal about how to pronounce "Umaga." (Regal pronounces it "Yewmanga"). Finally, Vince says we're going to see Umaga at his most vicious.

    -commercial break-

Kennedy's music hits, and we're ready for Orton v. Kennedy!

    Randy Orton v. Mr. Kennedy

The two lockup, with Kennedy getting a headlock in early. Orton powers out and reverses, but Kennedy reverses in to a cradle for a 2 count. Kennedy now with a headlock, but gets whipped into the ropes only to hit a shoulderblock on Orton. Orton in control now, but Kennedy fires back. The two go back in forth until Kennedy sidesteps a dropkick by Orton. Kennedy keeps hitting Orton, but Orton hits a low blow and is now in control, delivering stomps and punches to Kennedy. Kennedy grabs the tights and goes for a rollup, but only gets 2. Kennedy goes for the Green Bay Plunge, but Orton jumps out of it and hits an inverted backbreaker. Kennedy gets back up, hits the Green Bay Plunge, and looks to have the win, until Hardy comes out and starts punching Kennedy. Jeff hits a swanton. Orton runs at Hardy, but Hardy pulls the ropes down, and Hardy is left in the ring while the heels both look on in shock.

    Your Winner: No Contest

Match Rating: B+ (Heel v. Heel is a hard thing to pull off without the crowd going completely dead. I'm happy with the ending of this one, as it made Kennedy look strong after a couple weeks of losing, and hinted at Hardy being a viable competitor to the WWE Championship. Overall, better than the first match, and a pretty dawgone good match in its own right.)

    -commercial break-

Vince comes out and pimps out Cyber Sunday while the crowd gives "WHAT" chances. Vince announces Triple H v. Umaga, and introduces Umaga. Vince says one of the stipulations is a street-fight. A Jobber is standing in the corner looking scared. The Jobber says his name is Andy Simmons. Umaga destroys poor little Andy, choking him with cables, and throwing him over the annoucners table. Umaga gets a chair, throws it in the ring, and throws Andy in the ring too. Umaga samoan drops Andy on to a table, and Umaga wins. Vince says the other stipulation is a first blood match. The refs throw Andy back in the ring, and Umaga puts Andy in the tree of woe. Umaga bounces off the ropes and hits Andy with a headbutt, and then follows it up with a butt-smash. Vince tells Umaga to finish Andy off. Umaga hits the samoan spike about 10 times, and Andy is bleeding from the mouth. Umaga wins the first blood match easily. Vince calls for medical attention, because the kid is hurt. Vince tells them to hurry up, and says there's a third stipulation to choose from: a steel cage match. Umaga throws Andy into the ring, and the cage is lowered. Vince calls Andy "Triple H" as he describes everything done to Andy so far.

Umaga gets into the caged ring, and Umaga runs Andy face first into the steel cage. Vince says he wants more. Umaga picks up Andy and runs him into the other side of the cage. Vince keeps telling Umaga to "Sick 'Em." Umaga military presses Andy into the side of the cage. Umaga walks out of the cage the winner. Umaga destroyed this poor kid, and Vince and Umaga have crazy looks on their faces as they go to the back.

    -commercial break-

Coach is in the back now, chasing a laughing Hornswoggle, who jumps on a tricycle and rides past Ron Simmons. Coach soon follows on a bicycle, and Simmons gives a standard "Damn!"

Back in the arena, Jillian Hall's music hits, and it looks like we're going to have our Diva's match. Jillian grabs a mic and says that Lillian's musical performance was horrible last week (another shameless plug for Lillian's CD). We then get Jillian singing, but she's interupted by Candice Michelle, who comes out to the ring.

    Jillian Hall v. Candice Michelle

Jillian cheap shots Candice before she enters the ring, but is soon brought down by the former Women's Champ. Candice hits a spinning kick, and soon hits an Unprettier for the win.

    Your Winner: Candice Michelle

Candice celebrates her win, as Jillian looks dissapointed.

Match Rating: C (A very quick Diva's match, thankfully. Candice has shown great skill, but Jillian is down right bad sometimes. Honestly, though, I've never been so happy to Candice as tonight with her interrupting Jillian's singing.)

Beth Phoenix is in the back, and she explains what a "glamazon" is, and she says that Candice Michelle envoked the rematch clause for next week.

Cody Rhodes is in the back, only to be confronted by Hardcore Holly. Holly asks him if he's tired of getting beaten up. Cody says that he can beat Holly, and that he'll earn his respect. Holly says that he's been beating people up since before Cody was born. He then gives Cody a very stiff slap and says that he wants to see Cody fired up. Cody looks furious, and we go to a commercial.

    -commercial break-

After the break, Cade and Murdoch's music hits, and the tag champs stand in the ring. It seems like they're going to help out with the commentary. London and Kendrick's music hits, and it seems like Kendrick is going to compete in singles competition. The Highlanders' music hits, and Rory is the one to see action tonight.

    Brian Kendrick v. Rory McAllister

Kendrick goes right into it, taking Rory down and hitting some shots. Rory gets to his feet, but Kendrick beats him down to his knees. Rory rams his head into Kendrick's gut, and then starts to beat the lightweight down. Rory starts to stomp away, and knocks Kendrick to the outside. Kendrick struggles to get back in, and is covered by Rory right away, but Kendrick grabs the ropes. Rory locks in the chin lock, but Kendrick is trying to fight out. Kendrick finally manages to fight out, but Rory hits a knee. Kendrick manages to fight back still, hitting some nice shots. Robbie jumps up on the apron, but is brought down by London. The distraction works, though, as Kendrick is momentarily distracted. Rory takes advantage and hits a springboard reverse suplex for the win.

    Your Winner: Rory McAllister

The Highlanders stare down Cade and Murdoch who say that if they want a shot they'll can have one, but they have to wait.

Match Rating: B (A solid match. Rory played the heel very well, and I love to see London and Kendrick doing their normal high-flying stuff. I like the heel Highlanders, and can't wait to see them take on Cade and Murdoch.)

    -commercial break-

Todd Grisham is in the back, and he introduces HBK. HBK says the he's returned, but it's only the beginning. He says that every time Orton turns around, he'll be there. Michaels says that he kicked Orton's teeth down his throat last week and he'll do it again tonight. HBK says that Orton can't kill what he didn't create, and that at Cyber Sunday, he'll face Orton and kick his teeth in again, but it will be for the WWE Championship.

Hornswoggle is running around in the back being chased by Coach. Hornswoggle runs into the divas' locker room, and Coach reluctantly follows. The divas scream, and Hornswoggle leaves, followed by Coach who says he's sorry to the divas.

    -Save_Us.222-

The chase resumes into the arena, and Hornswoggle runs under the ring. As he hides, Coach grabs what appears to be a dynamite detonator. He says that the he's had enough of Hornswoggle, and tries to set off the explosives. They fail to go off, so Coach crawls under the ring to see what's wrong. Hornswoggle then climbs out from under the ring, and sees the detonator. He sets it off, and the explosion goes off as smoke comes out from under the ring. Did he just kill Coach? No, he didn't. Coach slowly crawls out from under the ring covered in soot. Hornswoggle runs up the ramp laugh. He are promised to see Cody Rhodes and Hardcore Holly face off for a third time next.

    -commercial break-

After the break, Cody Rhode's music hits, and he comes out, followed soon by Hardcore Holly.

    Cody Rhodes v. Hardcore Holly

Cody and Holly go at it, with Holly trying to throw Cody to the outside. Cody skins the cat, but is soon brought down by Holly. As Holly tries to beat Cody down, Cody comes back, and starts to chop Holly. Holly fights back, but is hit with a cross-body from Rhodes. Cody gets a two count, and Holly starts to show offense. Eventually, he locks in a chin lock, but Cody fights out. Holly hits some stiff shots, and then goes for the Alabama Slam, but Cody turns it into a victory roll. Holly kicks out, only to get caught in a small package. Again another kick out. Cody tries numerous back slides and roll ups, but to no avail. Holly beats Cody down, and then gets on top and hits a flying cross-body block, but Cody rolls him over for a two count. Holly quickly gets up, and hits the Alabama Slam for the win.

    Your Winner: Hardcore Holly

Cody looks disappointed, but Holly seems to be a little impressed with the young upstart.

Match Rating: B- (The crowd seemed dead on this one, with a Kennedy chant breaking out at one point for whatever reason. I'm not really a fan of Hardcore Holly the person, but he can move in the ring. Cody is pretty talented for someone with limited experience. Hopefully they'll give Cody the win at some point.)

HBK and Randy Orton are seen in the back, and their match is next.

    -commercial break-

Shawn Michaels' music hits to a massive pop, and HBK comes out looking as badass as Chuck Norris. Randy Orton's music hits and the champ comes out for his third match of the night.

    Randy Orton v. Shawn Michaels

The two men stare each other down, but then go into full blown brawl mode, with HBK getting the upper hand. Orton gets outside of the ring, but HBK follows and hits a clothesline. He gets Orton in the ring, and tries a schoolboy roll up for a two count. HBK hits a hard chop, and tries another roll up. Again, Orton kicks out, and soon takes HBK down. Orton hits some hard mounted punches, before putting HBK on the top rope for a superplex, but HBK fights out and sends Orton to the canvas. HBK stands and hits the elbow drop. HBK tunes up the band, but Kennedy hits the ring, and HBK starts to fight with him. THe ref rings the bell, but Orton and Kennedy start to double team HBK. Jeff Hardy runs down for the save, but he is eventually taken down by Orton. Orton now starts to stalk for the RKO, but HBK pushes him into Kennedy before he can deliver. Orton is dazed, and HBK hits Sweet Chin Music, as promised. HBK looks at Orton with a sneer as Raw goes off the air.

    Your Winner: No Contest

Match Rating: B (Good, but too short. Even still, it was absolutely wonderful to see HBK back in the ring. The ending was nice too, as it sets things up nicely for Cyber Sunday, no matter who the winner of the poll is.)

    Final Grade: B

It kept my attention, but it was lackluster overall. The strong points were the Kennedy/Orton match, and the main event. The Rory/Kendrick match is worth a mention as well, as it wasn't near what I thought it would be... meaning it was good. Other than that, the WWE seemed to be "mailing it in" this week, and that's unfortunate for the English crowd, although they seemed to very into it.

Any questions, concerns, or comments can be sent to DonnyAnderson@gmail.com. Thanks, and I'll see you all next week!
