WWE House Show Results from Columbia, Missouri 9-23-07

(1) The crowd was told to rise for the national anthem, but about halfway into it, Dave Taylor and Paul "Not a Pirate" Birchill came out and started singing the British Anthem which was in turn interrupted by the Major Brothers entrance music. The two teams had an entertaining bout and the crowd was really into it with USA USA chants. Finish came when Birchill ran into Taylor on the apron and was rolled up by one of the Majors.

(2) Up next was Jimmy Wang Yang going up against Mark Henry. Sign Guy is here and has a humurous sign about Henry's diet. It lists many fattening things on a paper that goes all the way to the floor. Basic Henry squash but Jimmy got a nice reaction and applause after the match. Henry won after catching a Yang moonsault attempt, a powerslam and then a bearhug.

(3) It is Diva match time. Michelle McCool defeated Victoria after sliding out of the Widow's Peak and connecting with a Chick Kick. Crowd surprisingly wasn't much into the gals tonight.

(4) Uh oh! It is Big Daddy V time! V got a real mixed reaction and I even saw a couple pro BDV signs. His gimmick is catching on, it seems. Tommy Dreamer came out next and got a so-so reaction with a few extremely vocal supporters (Me). Tommy lost in a fairly short battle after the Bossman slam and Elbow Drop of Doom. Boogeyman's music hit and got a huge reaction and snuck out from under the ring. He then "wormed" Matt Striker and worms went flying everywhere! Matt spat worms about five feet in the air after it was done.

(5) Tag title match is up next. MVP is out first without much reaction. Matt Hardy's music hits and the crowd erupts. This Hardy is a popular man! MVP grabs the mic and challenges Matt to another contest, a push-up competition. MVP does ten, Matt does fifteen, MVP does fourteen and one with a clap, Matt does fourteen but MVP kicks out one of his arms before the fifteenth. Matt and MVP argue until some 50's music hits. Who could it be? Why, its Deuce and Domino with Cherry in tow! This match was very similar to the recent contests between these two teams. The finish came when Hardy tagged MVP with a punch to the jaw and knocked Deuce off the apron. MVP came in and attacked Hardy and got a Twist of Fate for his troubles. Hardy then quickly hit the Twist of Fate on Domino and rolled MVP on top for the cover. Hardy and MVP argue again and Hardy connects with the Side Effect and leaves with all three title belts. Crowd had fun with this encounter. Lots and lots
of Hardy chants.

(6) Finlay out to many boos. Out next is Chuck Palumbo on his motorcycle. Finlay hassles the fans for five ro so minutes before the match, even hopping over the barricade at one point. Match starts off with a punch that sends Finlay to the floor. Chuck follows and is shoved into the steps. Chuck rolls into the ring, but after a few moments conferring with the ref and holding his knee, Lil' Naitch throws up the cross and out come a few refs and trainers. The announcer says that Chuck is injured and unable to continue the match. Finlay grabs the mic and says a bunch of anti-American things and calls Chuck a coward as he is being helped to the back. Chuck has had alls he can stands and he can't stands no more! He hobbles back to the ring and after a short exchange, Finlay grabs his Shillelagh but is stopped by the ref. IT'S LITTLE BASTARD MCMAHON HORNSWOGGLE!!!! LEPRECHAUN ATTACK!!! Anyway, while the ref is putting away the foreign object, Hornswoggle slips Finlay a chair who promptly thrusts it into Palumbo's throat. 1,2,3 and Finlay cheats to win. Hornswoggle gets bodyslammed onto Palumbo and leaves with Finlay. Palumbo is helped to the back. Hope Chuck is okay. It would suck for his return momentum to get cut short due to a knee injury.

(7) Elijah Burke is out and calls Columbia "Columbus" and harasses the fans for a minute. C.M. Punk comes out to a great reaction and the two have another fun match. These two work well together as they should after having so many matches against each other. Punk wins with the Go to Sleep. Punk makes the nap-time sign with his hands and celebrates with the fans for a couple minutes. Burke collects some lost beads after the match and looks upset.

(8) It is Main Event time. This match is for the World Heavyweight Championship. The Great Khali comes out first and he is huge. Batista comes out to unquestionably the loudest pop of the night. Nothing but clotheslines, big punches and nerve holds from the Punjabi nightmare. Batista knocks down Khali a few minutes in and out come Mark Henry AND Finlay. Batista knocks them both off the apron and fends off an attempted Khali Skull Crush. He then spears Khali. Finlay is back on the apron and is brought in by Batista, Irish whipped and speared. Henry comes back into the ring and is spinebusted. Spinebuster connects with Khali and that is all! Crowd goes nuts after Batista blows through the top three heels on Smackdown. Batista basks in the adulation for a few minutes and even takes Sign Guy's hat off and wipes his rear end with it.

All in all, it was a fun show. The building wasn't anywere near a sell-out, but I don't think anyone expected that.
