    Raw Report 9/03/2007

It took one week for the entire wrestling landscape to change. With so many wrestlers on the shelf with suspensions, what sort of show can Vince and Co. put on? We'll find out tonight as the USA Network presents WWE Monday Night RAW

Raw begins tonight with an Intercontinental Championship match! Jeff Hardy's music hits, followed by usual pops from the crowd. We get a recap of Umaga turning on Hardy last week, as Umaga's music hits and the Samoan Bulldozer makes his way to the ring to face the Charismatic Enigma.

    Umaga v. Jeff Hardy

Bell rings, and Jeff delivers a few blows before Umaga delivers a knee to Hardy's midsection. Throat thrust puts Hardy down, and Umaga is in control. Umaga chokes Hardy on the ropes, leaving Hardy reeling as the crowd chants his name. Hardy starts fighting back, only to catch a back elbow from Umaga, followed by a headbutt. Umaga throws Jeff sternum first into the turnbuckle. Umaga pounds Hardy in the corner, but misses a big splash, and Hardy mounts Umaga getting 5 good punches in. Umaga powers out of this relatively easily. Hardy ends up on the apron after Umaga dodges a clothesline, and Jeff is hit with a superkick, falling out of the ring, as we go to commercials.

After the commercial, Umaga dominates Hardy with a nerve pinch in the center of the ring. Hardy gets to his feet only to be thrown back down. Umaga goes back to the nerve pinch on the shoulder. Hardy gets his way out of there, bounces off the ropes, and right into a samoan drop by Umaga. Hardy is out in the ring, as Umaga mounts the ropes for the headbutt. Jeff rolls over and Umaga faceplants into the canvas. The ref starts counting both of them, with both men getting up at the 7 count. Jeff crashes off the ropes twice hitting Umaga with elbows, then a kick. Jeff with a sunset flip that Umaga tries to reverse, but Jeff moves again. Jeff with a two count. Jeff missesa twist of fate but jumps off the ropes into a whispers in the wind! Jeff gets a two-count. Jeff off the top rope again, but Umaga catches him and gets a black-hole slam on Hardy. Umaga covers, but Jeff gets out at 2. Umaga to the top turnbuckle, but Jeff crashes the ropes, Umaga falls, and Jeff covers for the three!

Your Winner, and NEW Intercontinental Champion: Jeff Hardy

Match Rating: B (Strong outing by both men, and it gets the belt off of Umaga, who may or may not be implicated in the suspension scandal. Jeff getting the belt allows it to be defended against more opponents, as Umaga was probably too strong for the title. I was satisfied with this match. No big botches, and the crowd was way into it.

We're back after a commercial with Vince talking to Coach. VKM says the best defense is a good offense. Carlito walks in with noticeably shorter hair. Vince asks Carlito if he was as humiliated as he was at Triple H last week. Vince says tonight HHH will be treated like family. Tonight, there's no one on one match; there's a handicap match. Umaga and Carlito against Triple H.

We go to the Diva's locker room with Santino standing outside. Maria walks outside, and tells Marella to talk to her before he goes asking Regal for a rematch in her name. Santino says not to worry, he's going down to the ring with her tonight to make sure she's safe against Beth Phoenix.

Regal is now talking, and wonders where Cena is. Melina comes up to him and says it's going to be weird with Vince's family tonight. She whispers in his ear about things that her and Vince did in their last meeting. Regal gasps and says it's disgusting. When Melina turns around, Stephanie almost slaps her, but holds back. Melina cowers, turns around, and gets smacked by Linda McMahon! Ron Simmons walks up afterwards, pauses, and gives us the weekly "DAMN!"

After another break, Santino's music hits; he comes down to the ring with Maria. Santino says that before Maria has her match, he has something to say. He says his arm is almost better, and when it is better, he will embarass Ron Simmons more than the senator who does things in the bathroom. He says he was once an intercontinental champion, and he brings class to the town. The music of Sandman hits, and Sandman runs through the crowd. Santino asks why this guy is here; Santino says Sandman's problem must be that he is jealous that Santino makes love to Maria, and Sandman makes love to his stick. Sandman cracks Santino HARD, and proceeds to beat him up the ramp and into the back. We go to commercial as Maria looks worried, with Beth Phoenix coming up next!

    Maria v. Beth Phoenix

Maria tries to attack Beth, but Beth just shoves her off. Maria tries again, and gets pushed down again. The thrid time, Beth picks Maria up and slings her throat-first against the top rope. Beth with a delayed fisherman's suplex, getting the win.

Beth tell us she's cashing in her opportunity for the WWE Women's Title at Unforgiven. She calls herself the Uber-Diva, unlike any Diva that has ever existed; she's a "Glamazon." She then hits the delayed Fisherman's suplex again on Maria, sending a message to Candace Michelle. Candace runs down and stares down Beth Phoenix. Beth backs off smiling, while Candace checks on Maria.

Match Rating: C (Wow, the only thing I hate worse than a Squash match is a Diva's Squash match. The post-match speech by Beth and ensuing entrance by Candace rose this match from a D to a C, as it was a pretty good bit of drama. I look forward to this match at Unforgiven, as both of these chicks are capable of decent things in the ring.)

We come back to Regal standing in the ring. He addresses the Orton/Cena situation last week, and shows a video recap of Cena's father getting punted. Regal says that Orton couldn't be here this evening, as Regal gave Orton the night off. Orton appears via satellite, saying that we can call him whatever we want, but John Cena did this to himself. Cena's father's blood is on Cena's hands. RKO says it wouldn't have happened if Cena would have accepted the rematch. Orton says he has a feeling Cena wants that rematch. Regal then announces that at Unforgiven, Orton and Cena will have their rematch! Orton thanks Regal, saying that he deserves this opportunity. Orton addresses Cena, saying that he hopes Cena's father never forgives Cena for what he let happen next week. Regal says "on with the Show," but Cena comes out sans music. Cena doesnt look happy. Cena walks slowly to the ring, ignoring the crowd. Regal says that he's just doing his job as GM. Cena gets in the ring, and Regal tells him not to do anything foolish. John looks at the belt, looks away, and then pounces Regal. Cena is all over Regal, slamming him onto the announcer tables, and on to the ground. He locks in the STFU, and Regal is screaming in pain. Refs are trying to pry Cena off of Regal, but Cena won't let go. Finally Cena lets go, as Regal is shown unconscious. Cena leaves looking unsatisfied, as we go to commercials again.

After the break, Cade and Murdoch are now at the announce table. They say they are there because the next match is a #1 contenders match for the World Tag Team Championship. The World's Greatest Tag Team's music hits, and Haas and Benjamin come out for this match. Shortly after their arrival, London and Kendrick dart down to the ring ready to fight.

World's Greatest Tag Team v. London and Kendrick

Kendrick and Haas start off. Haas powers Kendrick down with a waistlock takedown, followed by a front face lock. Kendrick fights out, but is brought down by a shoulderblock. As Haas tries to capitalize, Kendrick uses his agility to lock in an armbar. Kendrick tags in London, who flies off the top colliding with Haas. London then tags in Kendrick for an exact copy of the last move. Kendrick tags in London once more for the same move. This time, London takes it to Haas, but is brought down by a knee to the gut. Haas hits a running kick to the now sitting London, and tags in Benjamin. Benjamin comes in and hits some pretty good offensive moves, eventually locking in a modified chin lock. London fights out, and attempts to tag in Kendrick, but Benjamin takes him down just before the tag is made. Benjamin drags him to his own corner and tags in Haas. Haas now starts to work over London, but London makes some nice evasive moves, and finally makes the tag to Kendrick. Kendrick leaps in and hands out some nice high flying hits to Haas. Kendrick then dropkicks Benjamin off of the apron, and hits a flying plancha. Kendrick then climbs the ropes, and flies into Haas. The ref counts, but Benjamin is in the ring, and breaks up the pin. London is now in, and Benjamin can't handle both. Kendrick and Haas are now alone, with Haas staggered. Kendrick sizes him up and lands the Sliced Bread #2, and this one is over.

    Your Winners: London and Kendrick

Cade and Murdoch ask JR and King to excuse them. The two stand and clap their hands for their new #1 contenders. Cade and Murdoch confront London and Kendrick in the ring, and extend their hands. London and Kendrick looked confused, but shake the hands of the champions. Cade and Murdoch leave London and Kendrick to celebrate in the ring.

Match Rating: B+ (Jeez, I'm glad London and Kendrick came to Raw. These two are amazing to watch, and this match showed it. It also showed that Benjamin and Haas are incredibly skilled as well. Regardless, Cade and Murdoch meet the new #1 contenders at Unforgiven, and that is a match I'll enjoy watching.)

Regal is in the back sitting in the back of an ambulance. As the paramedics tend to him, Shane McMahon walks by, and looks like a man on a mission as we go to break.

Carlito is with Umaga, as Carlito says HHH was laughing at Umaga for losing the IC title earlier tonight. Umaga looks fired up.

Vince is with his lawyers in the back, talking about his Swiss bank account. He says his family is greedy, and doesn't want anyone accessing his trust funds. VKM asks Coach how Regal is, and Coach says he's pretty beat up. VKM tells Coach to step up one more time. One lawyer speaks up finally and advises Vince to seek a settlement. Vince fires the lawyer immediately for trying a "defensive strategy." Vince wants blood. He wants his family to bleed, and when the woman shows up, he wants his lawyers to put the boots to her, big time.

After a break, Daivari and Jillian are in the ring. Jillian grabs the mic and addresses Lilian. Jillian says Lilian thinks she's so hot because she's in WWE Magazine this month. Jillian says she's got a new album coming out too, and it's going to blow her album way out of the water. Jillian says she just had her wisdom teeth taken out, but she's still going to perform for the crowd tonite. She pulls out a bloody gauze and hands it to Daivari. She starts singing horribly, and Daivari joins her. They are interrupted by the music of Cody Rhodes, who comes down with Mickie James.

Cody Rhodes and Mickie James v. Jillian Hall and Daivari

Mickie locks up with Jillian, with Jillian favoring her jaw. Jillian pulls Mickie's hair, tossing her across the ring. Mickie comes back with an armdrag, and then a couple of kicks to the jaw that send Jillian to the corner. Jillian starts crying, and tags in Mickie. Cody comes in and delivers an atomic drop and armdrag to Daivari. Shoulderblock into a hiptoss and armdrag by Cody. Daivari puts Cody into the corner, and then cheapshots him during a ref count. Daivari with a massive clothesline, but only gets a 1 count. Daivari with a bodyslam, and an elbow drop, and gets a 2 count. Daivari locks in a headlock, and cody is on his knees. Cody powers to his feet, but gets caught be a back elbow. Daivari with another elbowdrop and a 2 count. Daivari delivers a chinlock while the crowd chants "USA," rallying behind Rhodes. The men exchange elbows, and after a quick exchange of reverses, Cody gets a bulldog on Daivari. Mickie runs across the ring to take out Jillian. Daivari hits a chindrop on Rhodes, but he recovers quickly and follows it up with a DDT for the win!

Your Winners: Cody Rhodes and Mickie James

Match Rating: B- (Simply not enough time for this one. It was quick, but Cody improves every week, and Mickie is just awesome in the ring. Daivari is underrated, and has taken Rhodes under his wing, which is nice. Jillian is annoying but in a good way: a good heel diva that's not, basically, a man. It was filler, but it was fun.)

After a break, HHH's music starts, and the Game comes out to the loudest pop of the night. He does his normal antics with
the water spitting and flexing in the flashing lights as the crowd continues to go nuts. Carlito's music hits, followed by Umaga's, and the men come out ready to do battle in our main event! Umaga didn't even bother to put his facepaint back on.

Triple H v. Carlito and Umaga

Carlito starts off quickly attacking HHH, pounding him in the corner. IRish whip by Carlito, but he gets met with a charging clothesline by Triple H. Hard right hands by HHH, who takes over and tosses Carlito by the hair. HHH misses a backbody drop and Carlito kicks him. Carlito charges, but misses HHH and goes to the outside. HHH coaxes Umaga into the ring, and both men attack HHH. The ref rings the bell as both men start pounding away on Triple H. Triple H starts fighting back, but catches a superkick from Umaga. Carlito hits the backstabber, and Umaga goes to the top rope to deliver a flying headbutt on the Game. Umaga drags HHH to the corner while Carlito gets two chairs. Carlito holds a chair in front of HHH's face, but Umaga misses the buttsmash after HHH moves. HHH grabs the chair and goes to down on Carlito, sending him out of the ring. He hits Umaga several times, but Umaga will not go down. Umaga finally goes to one knee, but Triple H hesitates and climbs out of the ring. The Game gets the sledgehammer and hits Umaga right between the eyes, sending the bulldozer down. Umaga is busted open, crawling around the ring in a haze. Umaga is on his knees, and Triple H grabs Umaga, yelling at him before delivering one final blow to the back of Umaga's neck. Umaga is completely out, as Triple H points the sledgehammer at Carlito. Carlito looks terrified.

Your Winner: Triple H by DQ

Match Rating: B (A little short once again, but it was awesome. If indeed Umaga is out of the picture due to a suspension, then he definitely received the most appropriate send-off. Triple H looks to be in great shape, but at this point, they're just feeding Carlito to him. It's nice to have the Game back though, as he brings something to the table that not many others can right now.)

After a break, Vince's music hits, and the Chairman comes to the ring with his two lawyers and Coach. Vince introduces himself as the patriarch of the McMahon family. He says this whole thing is about the money. He expects his family to come out with their hands out; they all want a handout. Linda's music hits, and the CEO comes down to the ring to face her husband. Vince asks her how she expects to get her cut without an attorney. Linda explains that she's the CEO; she's got money, and doesn't need his. Since Coach brought out the women that Vince slept with, she could take him to court and take him for everything he's got. Vince says he was out on the road building an empire, and that Linda doesn't understand. Vince thinks the rest of the family understands. Stephanie's music hits, and she comes down to the ring. Vince says before Steph says anything, everyone already knows she's the volatile one in the family. Vince says they've had wonderful times together, and that he has put together a video for her showing the tender moments they have shared. The video is of Vince beating up Stephanie, choking her with a lead pipe, and then shoving down Linda in the ring, leaving them both unconscious. Coach says someone sabotaged the video. The titantron shows Triple H, who says he swears he had nothing to do with the video. HHH says hi to Stephanie. Steph says it doesn't matter what video played, she does love Vince... but he's sick and needs serious help. If Vince doesn't get help, Steph thinks Vince should step down as Chairman. Vince is about to respond, when Shane O Mac's music hits, and he makes his way down to the ring. Vince asks Shane what he thinks. Shane asks which Vince he's talking to: the pioneer and fearless leader that he's proud to call "Father," or the other guy who flaps his arms, fakes his death, and is a lunatic. Shane says they're not out there to stand against him, they're out to stand with him. They are embarrassed, but if he wants to change, he needs to be thinking about the McMahon family legacy. Shane tells Vince to change. Vince asks them if they think he can change. Shane says it can work out, because he always wanted a brother. Vince says he's got a confession to make about the affairs: none ever happened. Vince was only saying those things to build his ego, because he's only been unfaithful once in his life. Vince says the only time that ever happened was with this woman... and even though he strayed only once, he feels he can change. Vince bows on one knee before his family and vows to be a better person. Mr. Kennedy's music hits, and Kennedy comes to the ring with mic in hand. Coach asks him what he's doing out here. Kennedy says everything happens for a reason. There's a reason his last name is Vince's middle name. There's a reason why the identity be revealed next week in his hometown of Green Bay, Wisconsin. Kennedy asks Vince if he knows why... it's because he is the son. Steph steps up and says while Kennedy might be a bastard, he's not Vince's bastard. Kennedy says he doesn't need that right now, and that he's here to speak to Vince. He asks Vince not to change. If Vince had not have been a lunatic, then Kennedy wouldn't have become the greatest WWE superstar in history. He says he cares, and won't judge Vince. His son's name is "MIIISSTERRR KENNNEDY. KENNNNEDYYYYY. MCMAHONNNNNNNN." Kennedy and Vince hug, but a lawyer arrives at the ramp. He represents the woman who had the child, and they have the DNA results. The lawyer says it's not Mr. Kennedy. The lawyer says he'll announce who the person is next week. He says until then, he has a clue for McMahon: "Things are looking up." Vince asks everyone what it means, but nobody knows as Raw comes to a close!

    Final Grade: B-

This show was rushed to be put together, and considering the short period of time, they didn't do that bad of a job. Entire storylines have had to be altered, so this goes to show the versatility of the WWE writing staff. It almost seemed forced at times, but it's understandable. I don't know if I'd rather this happen, or Vince coming out and suspending them publicly and acknowledging the scandal on TV. The wrestling was okay, and the segments were decent too. Par for the course.
