WWE News: Update on Johnny Stamboli signing with WWE, CM Punk appearance, more

• To correct a story I reported yesterday, former WCW superstar Johnny Stamboli has not signed a WWE deal. The Impact Zone Wrestling made a premature announcement. Stamboli, however, is booked to go on the road with the company. It’s being considered as an extended tryout, but hasn’t signed a full-fledged deal with WWE. WWE sources have indicated that they have interest in signing him.
  
  
• CM Punk will be attending a charity picnic tomorrow for the Thank You Foundation, which is a non-profit organization honoring veterans and active duty service members. The event will be held at the Cincinnati VA’s Ft. Thomas Nursing Home/Domiciliary. CM Punk will be there from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM.
  
  
• John Cena will be at the Food Lion AutoFair at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on September 15th.
  
  
• With WWE taping all their shows close to Kentucky this weekend, expect a lot of OVW developmental wrestlers backstage. They will be working tryouts. Mike Johnson is reporting that 6-8 names will be heading to the tapings.
