- Mr Kennedy Credits Steve Austin For Getting Him into the wrestling Business
(Credit: fhmonline.com - Mr. Kennedy: Wrestling Heaven)
I give “Stone Cold” Steve Austin credit for getting me into the wrestling business. I watched wrestling when I was a little kid, but I wasn’t a fan through high school. Then one day I was at a friend’s house and he forced me to watch RAW. He told me that I would really like this character called “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. I never heard of him, but as soon as I saw him I was hooked. I started watching wrestling every week just to watch him and then I got sucked in and became a huge wrestling fan.
Recently, Steve has been on the road with us and I’ve been able to sit down with him and pick his brain. He’s been a mentor to me. He’ll watch my matches with me and tell me what I could’ve done differently. He tells me to go out there every week and have the best match on the card and strive to continue to get better and learn about the business. We’ve got this awesome library at the WWE headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. It’s this huge room filled from wall to wall with wrestling tapes. It’s wrestling heaven. Anytime I want something from the ’70s or ’80s or something from the last few years, no matter what promotion it is, I can just call the office and tell them I’m looking for some Mr. Perfect stuff or some Tito Santana stuff or Steamboat stuff or Flair. I just name a name and they’ll put a tape together with four or five matches and send it to me.
