    Raw Results 6/4/2007

It's the night after One Night Stand. Cena has vanquished yet another giant, Lashley has reclaimed his beloved ECW Championship, and we are one week away from a 3 hour draft special... What's in store for this week? We'll find out as the USA Network presents WWE Monday Night Raw, live from Tampa, Florida!

The show begins with the crowd popping for the music of the Champ, John Cena. He makes his way to the ring, holding the spinner belt high in celebration of his victory over the Great Khali. He grabs the mic, and this crowd isn't as pro-Cena as originally thought. Do they pipe in cheers for the intro music?

Cena says this right here, all of this, is what he loves about this business. Look around, from the fat guy telling him he sucks, to the hot girl wearing a shirt two sizes too small, to Wade Boggs in the front row. It's action, intensity, and noise. Tonight, though, it seems louder to Cena. He says maybe because after six weeks of getting beat down, he finally told the Punjabi Frankenstein "FU." He says now, after all that, they spring the draft on him. He mentions how he was drafted from Smackdown to Raw. After what happened last night, if he gets drafted to Smackdown, or to ECW, and tonight is the last night he stands in the ring for Monday Night Raw, he's going to stand and take it all in, and if this is how it ends, let it be said one more time: "The Champ is here." Cena is interrupted by "No Chance" as a limping, sour looking Vince McMahon makes his way to the ring. No strut tonight; just a slow, sickly walk. McMahon says he knows why Cena is here, to embarass him. McMahon says Cena is here to remind the people that Vinnie Mac is no longer a world champion. Vince says he will not bend, bow, or break; his name is Vincent Kennedy McMahon. Cena says Vince is just tired and upset after losing last night; that Vince is delusional and emotional. A staredown ensues, and Cena tells Vince the only thing keeping Vince from being crushed is Cena's patience. Vince says he hasn't lost a thing; not his empire, money, or dignity. The only thing he's lost is his world title, which is exactly what Cena is going to do tonight. Vince challenges Cena to defend his title in a triple threat match, against Umaga and the Great Khali. Vice smiles and leaves the ring slowly, looking like a psychopath, as Cena looks on in disbelief.

We return from from a commercial break to the entrance music of Cryme Tyme!

Cryme Tyme w/ Candace Michelle vs. Kenny, Nitro, and Melina

The women start fighitng before the bell even rings, so both teams seperate them. The bell rings, and its JTG and Kenny in the ring. Kenny knocks down JTG, and Nitro comes in with a legdrop over the top rope. Nitro in control, and tags in Kenny. Kenny hits a flying fist from the top rope, getting a two count. Kenny stomps away on JTG, slingshotting him into Nitro's waiting fist. Shad interferes, interrupting a 2 count. Nitro hits a neckbreaker, gets a 2 count, and puts JTG in a modified cobra clutch. JTG powers out of it, but gets punched in the stomach and whipped into the turnbuckle, catching a big boot to the stomach. Shad in now, taking over and beating both Nitro and Kenny down. Shad with a huge clothesline, getting a two count before Kenny interrupts them. Bedlam errupts, with all competitors in the ring brawling. Shad lifts up Candace, throwing her on top of Melina. Shad picks up Nitro, and JTG hits the swinging neckbreaker for the win.

Your Winners: Cryme Tyme and Candace Michelle

Match Rating: B (What a finish! I don't like Candace all thugged out, because it's not really what we've seen so far, but overall CT meshed well with Kenny/Nitro. Shad is a really gifted big man, and Nitro continues to be a huge innovator in some of his offense. This was a real treat, as I've missed Cryme Tyme. A little short, but it served its purpose, and was entertaining as all get out.

In the back, Santino and Maria are talking when Vince walks up. Vince looks at the IC belt, saying he used to have a championship belt. Vince tells Maria to shut up, and Santino tells him he can't talk to a lady like that. Vince tells him to take the belt to the ring and defend it, smacking Marella, telling him to "git." He then repeats "git" like 5 or 6 times, as we go to a break.

We come back from the break in time for our second match of the evening.

    Santino Marella vs. Chris Masters
    for the Intercontinental Championship

After Santino comes to the ring, Masters shows up looking dead serious. Marella starts by kicking Masters in the quads, and whipping him into the ropes, but Masters holds on and Marella crashes to the ground, missing a dropkick. Masters puts Marella into the ropes and begins choking him. Masters with a 2 count. Marella takes over, but gets his eyes raked by Masters. Masters then plants Marella's head into the turnbuckle, and delivers a crushing legdrop. Masters with a 2 count again. Masters begins torquing Marellas neck, delivering elbows to Santino's head. Marella flips Masters over, and hits a chin drop on Masters. Marella begins hammering away on Masters, delivering a back heel trip, and getting a 2 count. Marella then goes for a clothesline, but gets picked up and racked on the ropes. Masters sets up for the Masterlock, but Marella, slips downward. Marella then gets a wristlock, flipping Masters over. Then, Marella wraps himself around Masters, hooking his arms and legs, and into a modified small package to pick up the win!

Your Winner and Still IC Champ: Santino Marella

Match Rating: B- (Not bad, but a few botched moves on the part of Santino. Masters looked great; he's showing great improvement in both ring skills and overall ring psychology. Marella is still green, and it shows, but that's partially his gimmick, so I'll let that slide. This feud doesn't do much for me, and I was hoping for a swerve to put the belt on Masters, but no luck. Despite that, a good match from two up and coming stars.)

After a commercial break, the Hardys in the back. Cade and Murdoch come up and congratulate them, and ask them when they're going to get another shot. They don't want the match tonight, but when the Hardys are 100%. Vince strolls up, and in a pathetic southern accent, asks them if they're "doin good." He says that the Hardys will defend the tag championships, against Cade and Murdoch.

Vince then walks towards Ric Flair and Torrie talking. Vince looks at Torrie, telling her there's one thing he cant stand: a degenerate hanging out with a woman half his age. Torrie reminds him of his wife walking in on Torrie and Vince once. Flair laughs, and Vince says this is what's going to happen. Tonight, Carlito will be in a match against them. Not Flair, but Torrie. Flair and Vince bicker, with Vince threatening Flair. Vince says every place he goes, whether Flair is there or not, he always hears "Whooos." Vince says that makes him a legend; and a legend should take on a legend killer. Vince announces Flair vs. Orton, one on one tonight, as we go to commercial.

After the break, Orton's music hits, as he makes his way to the ring for our next match!

    Randy Orton vs. Ric Flair

Ric Flair's music hits and the Nature Boy makes his way to the ring. The match starts with a stare down. Orton smacks Flair, who responds with a series of chops which result in Orton falling to the floor. Flair hits a stomp to the face, and begins more chops on Orton. Orton reverses an Irish whip and hits a powerslam. Orton now begins to stalk for the RKO...but we cut to a commercial!?! We come back with Flair locking in the Figure-Four leg lock. Orton is straining to get to the ropes, which he does. Flair chops Orton, but Orton reverses a second with a reverse backbreaker. Orton begins to stomp Flair all over, and hits a knee drop. After a one count, Orton begins pounding on Flair and locks in a sleeper-hold. Flair powers out of it, and hits a chop. Flair into the ropes, and is met with a drop kick by Orton for a two count. Orton hits a back body drop on Flair, and gets another two count. Orton again locks in the sleeper hold. Flair powers out with a back suplex, and goes for the Figure Four, but Orton reverses with a roll up for the one count. Orton gets Flair into the corner and begins reigning blows on Flair's head. Flair manages to hit some chops as Orton keeps coming. Flair thumbs Orton's eye, and manages to cover for a two count. Flair hits a knee drop on Orton. Orton reverses an irish whip into the corner, and hits a massive clothesline. As Orton attempts to capitalize, Flair comes back with more chops. Orton goes to the outside and Flair follows. Orton feigns running, but turns and hits Flair with a clotheline, followed by a suplex. Orton gets Flair back in the ring, and appears to be stalking for the RKO, but instead gives a nice kick to Flair's head. Flair struggles to get up, using the ropes for support. As he gets to his feet Orton hits the RKO for the win. Orton stands over the fallen Ric Flair with a crazed look in his eyes. Orton then backs into the corner, and looks to go for another kick, but is caught by the ref and is ordered to leave. Orton backs out of the ring slowly keeping his eyes on the injured Flair.

    Your Winner: Randy Orton

Match Rating: B (A good match. Not great, but it had a pretty big-time feel to it. Flair really worked his butt off, and Orton responded well. The soulless killer gimmick of Orton is working, and working well. I wish Orton would have destroyed Flair, only to have someone come in and make the save, but hey, I'll take this for what it was - filler that makes Orton look good and build up for his next move. I really think Orton may go to another show, so this was a proper send-off, if that's the case.)

After a commercial, Carlito's music hits for our previously announced intergender match of the night.

    Carlito vs. Torrie Wilson

Torrie limps down to the ring, injured in the match last week when Carlito gave her a backstabber. Carlito approaches her, saying he doesn't want to do this. Carlito tells her to walk out, and take the count-out. The bell rings, and Carlito tells her to leave again. As she turns to leave, Carlito waistlocks her, drives her into the mat, picks her up, and gives her the backstabber for the win.

    Your Winner: Carlito

Match Rating: C+ (Didn't know how to rate this, because it was so quick, and rather predictable, but still, Torrie is looking might gaunt these days, and Carlito is a cool heel, so I laughed when this happened. Yes, it says something about me, but at the same time, it shows Carlito is willing to do anything to win.)

The Hardys are walking backstage, preparing for their match against Cade and Murdoch coming up after the quick break!

The Hardys vs. Cade and Murdoch
for the WWE Tag Team Titles

Both teams come donw to the ring, Cade looking smaller than he has in recent weeks, but more cut. Matt starts out against Cade, taking control with an armlock. Cade reverses, Matt reverses, and Cade elbows Matt to break the hold. Matt with an inside cradle for a near fall. Matt into the ropes now, but gets caught with a dropkick by Cade. Near fall, but Cade tags in Murdoch. Murdoch works on Matts already taped arm, and catches him with a reverse elbow. Murdoch gets back bodydropped my Matt, who tags in Jeff. Double team back elbow followed by legdrops on Murdoch by the Hardys. A quick 2 count, and Jeff tags back in Matt. Matt comes off the top rope onto the arm of Murdoch. Matt tags in Jeff again. Jeff springboards off Matt into Murdoch in the corner. Matt with a near fall that is interrupted by Cade. Cade is taken out of the ring by Matt, and Jeff then takes Murdoch over the ropes to the outside. Jeff then springboards a crossbody onto Cade on the outside. Jeff crawls in the ring, favoring his knee. He tags in Matt as we go to commercial mid-match...

(Attn: WWE; we, the fans, HATE mid-match commercial breaks. It takes us out of the action, and kills all of our excitement. Please go back to how it used to be. I'd rather have longer breaks in between segments than short breaks in the middle of the action.)

After the break, Matt has Murdoch in a headlock, but is struggling to keep the hold. Murdoch pushes Matt into the corner, and slams Matt into the mat. Murdoch tags in Cade for a 2 count, followed by a delayed bodyslam by Cade. Cade drives his knee into Matt's lower back several times. Murdoch tagged in, delivering knees to Matt's ribs, then delivers a russian legsweep for a two count. Cade tagged in, and gets a two count. Cade puts Matt into the ropes, and catches him with a spinebuster. Another two count. The ref checks on Matt for a minute, but he's okay. Murdoch tagged in, and he delivers stomps into Matt's midsection. Murdoch with a snapmare into a bodyvice on Matt. Matt tries to power out as the crowd gets behind the Hardys. Matt hits a reverse DDT on Murdoch, and both men are down. Matt gets the hot tag to Jeff, as Murdoch gets it to Cade. Jeff hits both men, hitting cade with a clothesline and Murdoch with a lightning rod legdrop. Jeff goes to the top, but Murdoch interrupts him. Matt throws out Murdoch, Matt hits a takedown on Cade, and Jeff goes for the swanton, but Cade moves! Cade covers Jeff, Jeff tries to put his foot on the ropes, but Murdoch pushes Jeff's leg off the ropes, and we have new tag team champs!

Matt argues with Cade and Murdoch, and the Redneck Wrecking Crew begins attacking the Hardys with the belts! The new tag champs are standing tall, as the Hardys lay bruised and battered in the ring. The crowd is stunned, and letting Cade and Murdoch hear it.

Your Winners, and NEW WWE Tag Team Champs: Cade and Murdoch.

Match Rating: A. (Holy Crap, I'm surprised. Obviously, this is the culmination of Cade and Murdoch's hint at a face turn, ultimately showing their true selves. The semi-screwjob ending was a little bit botched, but this was probably the best tag match I've seen in awhile, and that's saying something. Maybe this will split the Hardys up again next week during the draft, but I hope not. This feud still has gas in its tank, and the WWE would be fools not to keep it going. I can't wait to see where this goes next. I don't hate the idea of Cade and Murdoch as Champs, as they've meshed very well, and they can handle a run as heel champs.)

Coach and Vince are in the back; Vince says he can't shake it. Vince says something is in his throat, and he can't get it up. A black cloud is rolling in, and Vince says he can't get rid of it. He doesn't know what it is, but next week, Vince will feel so much better because the draft is coming. Next week, in edition to the draft, a big thing will happen. Vince sends Coach out to tell us what next week is all about, as we go to commercials.

After the break, Coach comes to the stage for the big announcement for next week. First, Coach puts over the draft, saying that things will be shaken up. Additionally, next week will be Mr. McMahon Appreciation Night. *sigh*

After Coach leaves, Khali's music hits. It's time for our main event, right after these commercial messages!

After the break, Umaga comes down to the ring, sans any manager (no Estrada, no Shane, no Vince). Just as Umaga and Khali start to stare each other down, Cena's music hits. Cena doesn't celebrate this time around, he maintains a solemn look, and marches to the ring ready for business.

John Cena vs. Khali vs. Umaga

Cena runs right into a clothesline by Khali. Khali begins stomping Cena, and throwing elbows into Cena in the corner. Khali with a big boot on Cena. Umaga is out of the ring, gathering television cable. Khali throws Cena out of the ring, jumps out after him, and throws him into the steps. Umaga now has the ring steps. He tries to throw them at Cena, but Cena dodges, and the ring steps go right into Khali. Umaga just looks at Khali and yells some jibberish. John Cena in the ring now, but after fighting Umaga for a split second, gets taken down by a clothesline by Umaga. The crowd is solidly behind Cena right now as Cena sunset flips Umaga. Umaga does go down, and tries to squash Cena, but Cena moves. Cena tries to pick up Umaga for a bodyslam, but falls backwards under the weight of Umaga. Umaga begins stomping Cena. Then, Umaga hits a bonzai drop ff the second rope. Umaga goes for a second one, but Cena kicks upwards. Cena to the top rope, but Umaga catches Cena, and gives him a sidewalk slam. Umaga stares at Cena, but Khali is standing behind Umaga. Umaga turns around, and the staredown ensues. Khali and Umaga begin trading blows. Umaga into the ropes, and Khali catches him with a reverse kick to his face. Khali tries to grab Cena, but Cena racks Khali's neck on the ropes. Cena goes for the FU, but Khali elbows out of it, and begins to work on Cena. Cena into the turnbuckle, and right to the mat. Khali bodyslams Cena, and then drops a big legdrop on the champ. Cena puts his leg on the ropes, stopping a three count. Umaga on the apron, but Khali hammers at him, putting him to the outside. Khali then hammers Cena across the head. Khali picks up Cena, but gets knocked over by Umaga. Khali gets tied up in the ropes. Cena is in the corner, and Umaga goes for the buttsmash, but Cena moves. Umaga is then caught by Khali in a choke, but Umaga hits the somoan spike. Cena knocks Umaga out of the ring, grabs Khali, and FU's him for the win!

    Your Winner: John Cena

Match Rating: A- (A solid main event, with Umaga and Khali finally coming to blows. I mark out for these two fighting, mostly because of the comedy of the situation. John Cena was believable up until he planted the FU on Khali. I'd have rather Cena pinned Umaga, but I won't complain too much. Umaga was a non-factor in this, for the most part. Good drama and suspense, and I was on the edge of my seat for a good portion of the match.)

Raw comes to a close with John Cena celebrating as Khali and Umaga nurse their wounds in the ring.

Overall, I thought this was a great show, except for the McMahon stuff. Vince just gets on my nerves. His crazy, feeble, Uncle Joon sort of act is really really over the top. (Uncle Joon is a reference to Junior Soprano, for those who may not know, who plays an alzheimer's patient on HBO's "The Sopranos). Anyways, the action tonight was solid. Great to see Cryme Tyme on TV, and everything else seemed to go smoothly. The only thing I really didn't like is from the Vince perspective: If he's that crazy, then why is he making matches we've already seen for the past few months on Raw? Why make Santino face Masters and act like its a surprise? It lacked consistency, so that takes away from the overall show rating. In fact, the McMahon angle held it back from being the best Raw in a long time, but didn't completely hurt it.

    Match of the Night:
    Hardys vs. Cade and Murdoch

    Final Grade: B+

    Quick Results:

Cryme Tyme w/ Candace def. Kenny, Nitro, and Melina
    Santino Marella def. Chris Masters
    Randy Orton def. Flair
    Carlito def. Torrie Wilson
Cade and Murdoch def. The Hardys
John Cena def. Khali and Umaga

Ok, I originally was going to post my predictions for next week's draft, but honestly, I haven't had the time to get to those predictions this week. I forecast more Divas to Raw, along with Benoit and CM Punk. I could see Masters going to Smackdown, with Kevin Thorn following. As far as ECW goes, I think Chavo may go, as may Umaga, Finlay, or Nitro. These aren't really predictions as much as just pure speculation.

Everyone have a great week. Email me at DonnyAnderson@gmail.com with any questions, concerns, or comments. See you all on Draft Day!
