Ridin’ With The Bossman – Backlash and Ric Flair

Greetings! Welcome to another edition of Ridin' With The Bossman. The only column that can take Mark Henry seriously. In short doses. WWE hit the road, and the airways. They were broadcasting from Europe, and that’s a big deal. It brings the World into World Wrestling Entertainment. And for this American, I always find it interesting to see the reaction they get from an audience not inside the sphere of constant WWE markets. Sure, some international fans have the net, and use it to keep up, perhaps a greater percentage than American and Canadians fans, but mostly, it’s what they get off TV.

That makes for an interesting environment. Japanese fans have had wrestling for a long time, and a different style. WWE is just a different form than what they’re used to. Australia has frequent tours down there. England and the UK as well. But a place like Italy? They’ve had the group Rikishi was running for a couple of years now, but WWE is a different animal. And then, there was a PPV. Backlash. All the Wrestlemania fall out was to build for this one PPV, a loaded card, featuring Smackdown, Raw, and ECW. All the biggest names. Did it work? Let’s take a look.

    WWE TV – The Series

    Some thoughts first.

    International WWE

It felt like WWE didn't really put together shows, as much as they went over past angles, and tried to do a promotional show. In other words, it was WWE introducing themselves to their Italian fans. Some was good, but mostly it was WWE trying to tell their audience what to like.

This last week was the last chance to really sell the PPV, as opposed to WWE just being there. I did miss Smackdown Friday, but looking over recaps, it doesn't look like I missed much. Smackdown has been doing most of it’s storytelling in the ring, not through skits. It’s an old school way to do things, and with Michael Hayes running things now, it’s not a big surprise.

Speaking of Michael Hayes, since the last time I wrote, he’s now a Vice President of the company, along with Brian Gerwitz. Steph also got promoted. Man, it just goes to show, when WWE wants to forgive you, they will forgive you anything, but if they want to punish you, no matter how minor, that shit can last for years. I mean, some folks still hold a grudge against Bischoff, when Vince and company have done everything Eric did, and worse. But then again, Michaels Hayes got loaded at Steph’s wedding and sang “Freebird”. Which is worse? Firing a guy with a broken neck, over the phone and closing with the great line “ I hope you saved your money”. Or “Thank you. Hey, bartender! GIMME A DOUBLE! THIS IS AN OPEN BAR, RIGHT? Because “ I’m a FREEBIRD, BABY! AND THIS BIRD WILL NEVER PAY-YAAAYYYY!”

    Congrats Michael. Bottoms up.

    Where was I? Oh, yes.

Besides trying to give the show a European feel, there were some big angles to be covered after Wrestlemania. A few angles got started, but WWE seems to be taking their time with them. Basically, they didn't make it to the PPV, but might be ready by Judgment Day, or whatever the May PPV is called. I’m sure WWE will waste no time in telling us.

Backlash had to be a big. WWE is coming off of Wrestlemania, the show nearly guaranteed to get a huge chunk of people paying to see it. And coming off a less than stellar European tour, that supposedly put the kibosh on the planned international territory system, WWE needed this work, just to see if it really was. The International market seems to still be able to bring in cash, but it doesn't appear to be as strong as WWE was hoping it was. That would leave the domestic, US, business to make the big bucks. Domestic seemed stronger than it has in a while. WWE kept the plans from Wrestlemania and worked them into something new.

    Backlash

Complete Recap Info can be found here, courtesy of Chad Matthews

The first show back in the states after a long tour overseas. And a long plane flight. No news about hijinks on the plane, but there was one incident, which I’ll talk about at the end of the column.

    Hardy’s vs Cade and Murdoch

A very solid opener. Great work from everyone. Lots of reversals and near falls, which kept the crowd into the match. Finish was a near fall, with Murdoch trying to do the Canadian Destroyer, and Jeff breaking it up. Jeff with a Swanton, and Matt with the cover.

Jeff hardy has been a stud since he’s come back to WWE. I don't think the guy has missed one show, TV or PPV, and he’s had a ton of brutal matches. First with jobbing for the big guys, and then with Nitro, and then Edge, to multi-man gimmick matches, and now with Tag matches. He had a long run with the IC title and made it important. Hard to believe before he left he was getting pissed on. Now, he’s a top candidate for worker of the year. He may not get the push or spotlight that HBK does, but the guy works his ass off.

    Matt Hardy

Another guy who has worked his ass off this year. His work with Helms was outstanding, and being thrust back into the tag scene doesn't seem to have hurt his popularity at all, and being a Tag Team Champion again certainly hasn't hurt him.

    Tag Division

When they got the belts, I wondered whether this was going to be the start of a unification fad. First the tag belts, and then some of the other titles. But they have been kept separate. But the tag scene on Raw has some life. It’s still very shallow, but the pool is growing. Carlito and Ric are a temp team, but they’re working against other tag teams. Working with them, has helped Cade and Murdoch step up. This match, on Backlash, they showed a lot. The system seems to be working. It just needs to grow to include other teams.

    Shane, Vince and Umaga

Great bit with Shane and Umaga. Shane could easily step in and fill Armando’s shoes, and give Armando a chance to work his magic with come one else. Vince came in, and it was still gold. Vince no longer seems to be overshadowing Umaga. Bobby Lashley is another story, but they still have a match to get to. As a set up, I liked it.

    Melina vs Mickie James

Great match. Melina showed a lot of great moves, and skill, and psychology. Mickie kept up. Finish was Melina off the top ropes with a reverse DDT.

    Women’s Division

Melina is a top Diva. She has the mind for the role, the skills to wrestle at a top level, and the mic skills to go along with it. Mickie, she has presence, and some skills, but frankly, is just not that good. Her matches with Trish I know think were mostly Trish. Mickie is not horrible, but she’s not at Melina’s level. And speaking of Trish, after watching this match, I kept thinking what a shame it was that Melina and Trish never got a chance to really work together. It took Trish years to get as good as she did, but Melina seems to have the skills now. Mickie, give her some time, and she could be. In fact, all the Divas seem to have talent. Torrie has a lot, but ring skills are not her strong suit. She’s good, but not great. Maria has the basics, but needs time to shine. Same with Candice, Jillian, and Krystal. Victoria has the experience, and she looks good, and can talk, but she’s starting to feel the effects of all her experience, I think. I haven't heard anything about knee surgery for her, and it’s going on years.

WWE has a great crop of talented, attractive women, and the potential seems to be there for nearly all of them. Some, no. But most yes. They just need some one who can work the exciting match, and has the right look. WWE, I’m begging you. Steal Gail Kim from TNA. I can't believe WWE fired her in the first place. Now is the right time, and Gail vs Melina would be awesome. Gail and Jimmy Yang would be incredible as well. Gail in a cowboy hat, with a “YEEEE-HAW!” at the end of a Jimmy promo? Comedy gold right there. Not to mention it would be sticking it to TNA. It’s a double whammy, eh Vince?

    Mr. Kennedy

Brilliant skit. Just friggin’ brilliant Edge is interviewed by Maria, and then asks a question some one gave her, about Edge’s first title reign. In walks Kennedy and the verbal sparring between Edge and Kennedy was pure gold. And gave the final match that little extra oomph.

    Benoit vs MVP

Another top notch match. Benoit and MVP showed off, plain and simple. Reversals, solid technical wrestling, and plenty to keep the crowd into the match. End was five German suplexes by Benoit on MVP counters the diving headbutt, single leg crab, and Benoit reverses, struggle for control, Crossface, and MVP taps. Just awesome to watch.

    MVP

The guy has really benefited from working a long program with Benoit. His ring skills have improved, and maybe it’s just Benoit carrying him, but MVP is making it look good as well. The long matches on Smackdown seem to be giving all the younger talent a chance to really learn, and experiment and see what works, and build on that experience with some one who knows it’s coming and can work to either make it work, or cover if it doesn’t. This system seems to be carrying over to Raw and that seems to be making progress as well. Like with Cade and Murdoch, and their singles matches leading up to the their tag match on this PPV.

    Cena and Orton

Yep, Orton is in the doghouse, but instead of just burial, it’s burial with style. And great style at that. Nice promo from Cena, who knows what it’s like. Instead of Cena being ambiguously gay, it’s Orton’s turn, and Cena plays it perfectly. Ron Simmons for the Coup De Damn. Great bit. Funny as hell, on so many levels.

Bobby Lashley vs Vince, Shane and UMAGA

You know what? I thought this was a great match. Shane worked his ass off, Umaga stayed a monster, Bobby was a great never say Die Hero, and Vince was just there for the final touches. Shane took a hell of a beating and those who say he isn't a wrestler should be quiet right. Shane wrestled, wrestled well, and was great. Finish was Umaga giving Lashley a splash, Vince tagging himself in, going to cover, kick out by Lashley, Vince tagging in Umaga again, Splash by the Samoan, Vince tags himself in again, cover, and finally scouring the pin.

    Vince McMahon. ECW Champion.

I think it’s brilliant. It’s just what ECW needs. See, ECW just got a heart transplant. It was on life support, but now, no way Vince is going to call it quits on ECW. And you know what? It’s the best thing that could happen to ECW. No one is less ECW than Vince. No one. Vince is everything ECW stood against, and as their champion, ECW fans, who lost hope, can now rant and rave about what a travesty it is that Vince is champion. It gives the Rebels something concrete to rebel against. It gives the New Breed vs Originals a break, a needed one at that. The New Breed now has a good, solid angle they can work off of, and against, hopefully, fresh faces, pun fully intended. The Originals just weren’t cutting it. The group, not the individuals. Now, the Originals really have something they can sink their teeth into, and fail. They will, Sandman, Sabu, RVD, their days are numbered. And now, Vince can fire them on camera and let them have a send off in style, with a nice payoff. Main event, baby! RVD didn't sign his final contract offer. He still has time, but it doesn't look good. Can’t say I blame the guy. Sandman Vince has never liked. Sabu, well, the guy is a hazard to himself and others. He can probably come back every now and then, but a constant schedule is probably not a good idea for him. Dreamer, off TV equals good thing, Stick to house shows, and pumping up the crowd. They guy is good at that, and that’s a good skill to have, and valuable to the company. Seriously. Think about it, would you rather have Todd Grisham for commercial breaks, or Tommy. I’ll take Tommy. The guy is likable in person, but boring as hell on camera.

Before this match, I think the match on Raw a couple of weeks ago for the title with Shane and Lashley, which Shane should have won. Vince, well, the post match party, and the skit with the Originals, that was classic. Just frigging classic. Well done WWE. I am now interested in ECW, and if WWE bothers to hype ECW, without blowing the whole bit, ECW’s rating should pick up. Sweeps are now, after all, and I’m sure Sci-Fi has called to see if WWE is interested in renewing. I’m sure Sci-Fi, but wasn’t sure about WWE. Now? I think it’s a pretty sure thing. Welcome back ECW.

    Undertaker vs Batista

A solid match, until the ending. See, it was a Last Man Standing Match, a gimmick match that was a favorite of mine. Until now. That was the final straw. The match started off slow, but built and built until a great finale. Then Undertaker and Batista left the ring and went up the ramp. Bad omen. Finish was Batista spearing Undertaker off the ramp, into a heavily gimmicked crash area. We had falling towers, sparks, the whole shebang. Ref made the ten count and no one got up. No winner. Fuck! Then, to really make it pointless, Undertaker AND Batista got up on their own power. What the holy hell?!? The whole point for a Last Man Standing Match is to have a Last Man Standing! Fuck Triple H and HBK for starting that fucking trend!

    The Angle

If the whole point of that crap was to keep Batista in the title scene, forget about it. I think having Batista fade out, and then come back later would be much better. The angle was old, and is now stale. The point has been made that Taker and Batista can have a great match. Fine. The next PPV is coming up, but a fresh face in that spot would be better. Let Batista chase for a while, and I mean, really chase. Let’s see if Batista can work with some one else. There’s got to be somebody. Who knows? Maybe MVP? Maybe Miz? Hell, why not Benoit or Finlay? The point is, Taker and Batista has been done, and if it’s going to be done again, some space between rematches would be a good thing in my opinion.

Cena vs HBK vs Edge vs Orton

Excellent match. Last Monday saw HBK and Cena have what a Last man Standing match is supposed to be, only with pinfalls instead of ten counts. It was a beautiful match, and a legitimate Match Of The Year candidate, and early front runner. Cena carried that match too. Both guys seemed to be having a blast, but Cena was the one who really made that match. This match was good, but not that good. It had a great ending though. HBK Superkicked Cena, after Cena cleaned house, and Cena fell back on Orton and got the pin. Excellent. Truly excellent. It was out of nowhere, and caught people off guard, and I don't think anyone could have hoped for better, unless it was their guy getting the pin. No Kennedy though. For once, at the bar, I didn't see people leaving, myself included, until the WWE logo flashed on the screen.

    Cena

Cena is another guy who has worked his ass off this last year, hell, the past two years. The knock against Cena is that he can't work. But he can. His offense just isn't or should I say, wasn’t that great. It’s gotten a lot better. But Cena is a workhorse, and another guy who should get credit for the work he’s done. Oh, and before I forget.

ATTENTION HBK FANS, ONCE AGAIN, CENA IS STILL MORE POPULAR THAN HBK!

    That is all.

Overall, this PPV was fantastic. I’m glad I saw it, and wasn’t disappointed at all, except for the bullshit ending of the Last Man Standing match. That killed that match. It wasn’t the gimmicks, it was the ending itself.

WWE carried over all their angles extremely well. But this show wasn’t good because of the names of who was involved, it was great because a lot of solid work was done by the performers, on all levels. The names have a reputation of being hard workers, and it showed. Names alone didn't give it the edge.

WWE has spent a lot more time of matches, using that to build the angles, then they have on promos. However, the problem with that is, it doesn't really give the younger guys the exposure they need to step up and fill a spot when the top guys step down. Right now, WWE is being carried by it’s veterans. That’s not a bad thing, in fact, it’s really, really good. The shows have been solid. But injury can strike at any time, and the depth pool is not that deep. However, the longer matches, and giving the younger talent time to develop, working Heat and dark matches, may pay off in the end. Not a guarantee, just a possibility, and whether that works out or not, is a gamble that may have to taken by necessity, not planning.

    Over – Analyzing Wrestling

    Today’s Topic: One More Time!

I just finished re-reading Ric Flair’s book, “To Be The Man”. It’s been only about three years since the book came out, and my, how things have changed. The book ended with Ric Flair’s match against Triple H in Charlotte, with Ric being honored that night once the cameras went off. The broadcast may have ended, but the cameras were still rolling, and the scene was captured for DVD, and later broadcasts.

Now the Hall OF Fame for this year, as fans are wont to do, some decided to try and make guesses at who next year’s inductees might be. A lot of names were thrown around, but there’s one name that kept coming up. Ric Flair. The sixteen-time world champion.

Earlier, there were rumors that Ric was wondering if he might be able to pull off one more run with the title. Ric is no spring chicken, having just celebrated his 58th birthday in February. But it’s no secret that his time is running out in the ring. He can still go, which is amazing, but he’s body may not be able to hold up much longer. This year could indeed be the last time Ric steps foot in a ring. At least, as an active part of the roster, and not just for specialty appearances and one night matches.

If this is indeed Ric’s last year, should Flair be given one last run with the title?

There are pros and cons, and let’s take a look at them.

    Pros:

Ric Flair is a legend in wrestling. He’s had the most World Championship title reigns of anyone in the last 50 years. After wrestling for over 25 years, he’s the template for anyone who wants to be perceived as a Champion. Hulk Hogan may be more popular, but in comparing Ric to Hogan, the better wrestler is clearly Ric. Promo skills, I’d say they’re about even. Sheer charisma, as it comes to TV presence, I would have to say Hogan. Hogan just connected better with a wider variety of fans.

With Hogan talking about a retirement run, it would be a nice thing for WWE to do, to send off one of the best wrestling personalities in style. There has been idle chatter ever since Ric came back to WWE that he might get another shot at the belt, and become a 17-time world champion. But as the years went by, and my, it’s been less than a decade, but it seems much longer, the talk grew quieter and quieter.

Ric Flair can still have a good match, and can cut a great promo. The skills are still there. And for old timers, it would be nice to see Ric and Flair for the Gold one last time. Ric still connects with the fans of today. Not as greatly as he did in the past, but at some level.

Mainly though, the attraction would be a nostalgia factor. Ric wouldn't be able to do it alone. The release of the Four Horseman DVD brings back a lot of old memories. In fact, there was a rumor that WWE was considering putting Arn Anderson back in the ring to team with Flair. Tully appeared on the DVD as well. Both of those guys could do a run-in.

Flair has called himself the dirtiest player in the game. Why not make that a reality? A whole group of old crufters running interference for Ric? Could be entertaining. Could bring a strong nostalgia vibe. Keep Carlito and Torrie in the mix, and you got yourself a stable. WWE brought back many veterans this last year, and some of them had angles, but no real direction. This way, the returning veterans have a purpose.

In the end, it shouldn't be a long title reign, if Flair does manage to win, but it might provide a way to give the title some breathing room. Cena has had it for a while. It might be a good time to move it around a little. And with Flair getting his 17th title reign, it would accomplish 3 things.

    1) Give the impression that anyone can win the title.

That’s not a bad impression to give. The heavyweight Championship should be coveted by everyone. Not just a select few. From the highest to the low, everyone should want to be the Champion.

    2) Provide some relief from the tension.

The tension between HBK and Cena has been kept on high for months now. There’s only so long that level can be maintained. Ric as champion would provide some relief and allow the feud to drop down a notch without losing steam. Putting it into low gear to get over a hill so to speak. Give some time for individual focus, say Cena vs Orton or HBK vs Edge. H is scheduled to return this summer, but he’s also got a movie that needs to be filmed. “Jornada Del Muerte” is apparently going to see the light of day. According to rumor, HBK and Undertaker will also be starring in this film, along with Kane. And Big Show. Cena was also rumored to star in it, but that was a while ago. With Big Show gone, who knows if he will still have a role. The scheduled release is for 2009, but then again, the Marine was made a year or so before it’s release.

    3) Give wrestlers something to look forward to when they do retire.

Flair getting one last title run before hanging up his boots for good would be a great message to send to veterans who may feel their final days approaching. It means that a wrestler can retire with dignity. Or at least style. It would give a different impression than say, being forced to retire due to injury. When Foley retired, it had a different feel. Fans knew he would be back. Flair will be back too, but instead of seeing him every week, it might just mean something if he does decide to put the boots back on, for one more match. Should every wrestler considering retirement be given the World Title? No. This is Ric Flair. I think it’s a little different than say, if Tommy Dreamer decided to retire. No knock to Tommy, but it’s like night and day.

A classy retirement scenario would be the right thing for Ric. Ric retiring will be a huge deal to old fans, and new fans too. A final angle, with the Hall Of Fame ceremony as a capper, would be a classy thing for WWE to do.

    Cons:

    1) He’s Ric Flair.

That really says it all right there. Ric is an old man. He’s pushing 60. The Ric of today is not the Ric of ten years ago, let alone twenty. And all that time in the business has taken it’s toll. Not just physically, but also in image and popularity. Ric still gets a nice pop when he comes out. It’s a sign of respect from the fans for what he’s done. But compared to a decade ago, it’s not what it was. Ric also has the image of not being a main-eventer. Tag team, IC, but for the heavyweight championship? No. That’s a significant obstacle to overcome. Not just for Flair, but for everyone. WWE has tried in the past to portray some one as a threat, only to have it backfire on them. Mark Henry comes to mind, even though I happened to think it worked, there are plenty who don't. Again, it takes time and credibility to build up a main event competitor.

Flair just hasn’t really had the chance. Too many people can easily think of three people who beat Ric Flair in the past three years. If these people compared notes, you’ll get a list. A big one. It’s the impression that even though Ric has wont he title a lot, that was a long time ago, and now, he’s just another old guy who doesn't know when to hang it up.

Ric never physically looked like the stars of today. Standing next to say, John Cena, Flair just doesn't look in the same league. It’s the visual impression he makes. It’s worked for him in the past, but today, it’s different. Wrestlers today are bigger, faster, more developed physically, and basically, more athletic than in the past. There have been exceptions, both past and present, but overall, the advantage goes to today’s athletes when it comes to pure looks.

When it came time to wrestle, Ric can still hang, but until that moment, the impression that Ric might get killed will hover over the match. That might just be the new fans, but even long time watchers, who have seen Ric take a beating, and live, well, it’s always in the back of the mind isn’t it? Ever since WCW did the fake “Ric Has A Heart Attack” skit, it’s become more and more real. Flair has his on days and his off days, and his off days can be scary to watch.

If Ric did win the title, Ric would probably push for the old time 30-minute match, and thirty minutes is longer now than it was back in the day. An old school match might work, but there’s also the risk of the “boring” being chanted, and that’s never a good thing in a title match. Period.

    2) Ric is out of position for a title run

Putting Ric in the main event scene will take a lot of work. Maybe not from an angle standpoint. Ric could just challenge for the belt, and being a 16 time holder, he could make a very convincing case for a one shot match. But to actually win, and run with the belt, even for a month, work has to be put into the angle to not make a joke out of it. Opponents need to be beaten, and Ric has build up credibility. Carlito either has to be wrapped up, dropped, or working into the angle as well. To maximize as much return as possible, from a business standpoint, advertising has to be done. Hype has to be pitched, and bottom line, a plan to push Ric to the main event level needs to be thought up.

Timing in regards to current angles needs to be done. Ric has an angle going on right now with Carlito. The Main event scene on Raw is clicking. Smackdown has a solid main event scene, and there’s Mr. Kennedy waiting to take his shot as well. ECW has Vince, and Lashley, and well, that one could use some work.

Throwing Ric into the mix will really mess things up. Even if it was done after two months, it will still not have a positive impact, unless done really well, and with WWE lately, that could happen. But not likely. Timing is important. If Ric did retire this year, a later announcement would be better than an earlier one. A later title shot would be better than an earlier one. The summer is looking to be loaded with returning talent. Many angles at least give the impression of having long term plans. To just juggle those around to try and cram Ric in, with all the work that would be involved will lessen the effect of those angles. Which might be a good thing, but more than likely, a bad thing. I just think there’s too much potential to mess around with it.

In conclusion, a last title run for Ric would be more work than it’s worth. It’s sad to say it, but that’s my opinion. The benefits don't measure up to the cons. It’s a good idea in theory, but in making it a reality? Ric’s last match might get press, but the specter of all the previous phony retirement matches will overshadow any attempts at legitimacy. In other words, no one will really believe that Ric is going to retire, and even a title shot will just seem like a nice gesture by WWE, and the fans could react either way. Positive or negative, and it’s too big a gamble to take.

A decision by Ric to actually retire will not be an easy one for him to make. Ric has been wrestling for years, and just giving it up will be hard. Wrestling has been Ric’s life. No matter if he gets a chance to win the big belt or not, the fans will remember Ric for the contributions he made to the profession. And who knows? Maybe Ric, being the consummate performer he is, will surprise me, and get that title shot, and make his 17th win more memorable than all his other ones.

One thing is for sure. If WWE really wants to get to Hogan, then Ric winning the belt would be nails on a chalkboard to Hogan. And sadly, it’s still Vince running WWE, and that bit of pettiness might play a larger factor in making a decision regarding Ric Flair and one last run, than anything else. Money, respect, credibility. If it gets to Hogan, it might be worth it in Vince’s eyes.

That’s almost it for today. Just a few newsbits I’d like to cover.

    That’s Our Randy Orton

Randy recently got into trouble overseas, and was sent home. It seems that he trashed a hotel room. He cause $50,000 worth of damage. Now, the fact that Randy got in trouble doesn't shock me. He seems to work in cycles, and it’s been a while since his last incident.

What does surprise me, is the dollar figure. How the hell do you do that much damage?

I mean think about it. Let’s say he trashed the TV. Make it a widescreen HD TV, and that’s $5,000. Trash the bed? Couple of hundred. Holes in the wall? Another couple of hundred. Bathroom? Couple of grand. Lamps, paintings, furniture? A couple of grand. I mean, it’s not likely he was staying in the presidential suite. So, maybe ten or fifteen thousand is the best I can come up with. I’m no expert on these things however. But trying to get to Fifty grand seems like he really had to work to do damage.

However, the best scenario I can come up with is:

Randy threw the HD TV through the window, and it landed on a car. Say, a Porsche. Then, he tried to burn the place down. He must have really been pissed. I’m curious about what could have set him off. No word on that. Get on it Meltzer or Keller.

    Hogan Walking In Memphis

The infamous Hogan match happened. Lawler was pulled to mess with Hogan, and Big Show took his place. Well, it finally happened. From reports I have seen, the show drew 6,000 people. Not bad, not bad at all. Not Wrestlemania numbers, but for an Indy show, in the US, that’s damn good. Hogan pinned Show, of course, and the place went nuts. Hogan has still got it. Show was reported to look in great shape.

So, will Hogan tour the country on his own for a retirement match? No idea, but it has been talked about. Will it do close to the numbers this show did? Again, no idea. But, Hogan will probably have to promote the hell out of it. And he could. Hogan will be able to get on Local TV, and Radio, no problem. Why? He’s Hulk Frickin’ Hogan. And the net will pick up on his interviews, and repost them. The word will get out. Hulkster could do it. But I’m sure, WWE will step in and eventually mend fences with Hulk. Hey, who’s your VP’s again WWE? Are their actions worse than what Hogan did?

And I think that’s enough for today.

Time to call it a night. And look! It’s early and on the right date! Will wonders never cease? With Hulkster still going and doing well, and WWE finally coming out of the downward cycle, I guess the answer is no.
