WWE Raw 4/23/2007 London, England:
Hello everyone, this is Jason again. I haven't been recapping since September 2006 when I recapped Smackdown. It's an honor to be back and let's go on with the show.......
Shane McMahon's music hits and he dances his way out. He is dressed to compete. Shane grabs a mic and says Lashley will not be here tonight. Shane says Lashley has been a problem for the McMahons and Umaga lately. They recap Lashley helping Santino Marella win the Intercontinental Championship from Umaga last week. Shane says in honor of St. George's Day in UK one of Britain's own will go one on one with Shane-O-Mac in a no dissqualification match. He announces Robbie Brookside who comes to the ring.
Match 1: 3 On 1 No Disqualification Handicap Match:
Shane McMahon, Umaga with Armando Alejandro Estrada, and Mr. McMahon vs. Robbie Brookside
They shake hands and lock up. Shane with a headlock takeover and arm drag takedown. Shane is actually out wrestling Robbie. Shane with forearms and elbow drops to Robbie's back. Shane cowards Robbie into the corner and beats him down. Shane goes to the outside and grabs a trash can from under the ring. He places it in front of Robbie's face and goes up top and nails the van terminater missile drop kick from one side of the ring to the other smashing the trashcan into Robbie's face. Shane grabs a mic and says this is now a 2 on 1 handicap match with Umaga being his partner. Umaga comes out and immediately runs his knee into Robbie's face and nails a huge splash from the top rope. Shane then says there's a mistake as this is a 3 on 1 handicap match and Vince McMahon comes out and pins Robbie for the win.
Winners: Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon, and Umaga
Rating: 3/4 * (Not considered a match in my opinion but more of an angle and it worked perfectly as one. But Robbie Brookside is no Bobby Lashley and the McMahon's and Umaga will learn that out this Sunday.)
Umaga vs. Lashley tomorrow on ECW in a non title match.
Recap of John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels WWE Championship at WrestleMania 23 classic. (Excellent video.)
John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels in a WrestleMania 23 non title rematch tonight.

Hardy comes back with a clothesline and bulldog for two. Hardy nails the side effect and goes up top and nails a leg drop for two. Hardy goes for twist of fate but Cade distracts Matt and Trevor throws Matt shoulder first into the ring post and nails a powerbomb with him flipping foward and turns it in a pinfall for the win.
Winner: Trevor Murdoch
Rating: * 1/4 (Not much to it, but a decent match doing a good job of hyping their tag team title bout this Sunday.)
Maria is backstage walking to the ring. (Hope she doesn't get lost.)
A "The Condemned" preview is shown which opens this Friday.

Tonight, Randy Orton vs. Edge (What?!?! I thought Orton was kicked out of the tour.)
Match 3: Women's Champion Melina vs. Maria (Non Title Match)
They lock up and Maria surprises Melina with a hair takedown and Melina gets angry and chokes Maria in the corner with her boot and chokes her in the ropes. Maria comes back with a nice hurricanrana and running clothesline. Maria runs full steam ahead but gets caught by Melina who flings her by her hair and drops her face first hard into the mat for the win.
Winner: Melina
Rating: 1/4 * (The match lasted not even two minutes but Maria has improved and will hopefully be the next Diva to grace Playboy. One question though, where was Mickie? Melina faces Mickie in six days and not one site of her challenger. That's bad booking by WWE's part.)
Backstage Ric Flair tries to pump Carlito for his match but Carlito ignores it and walks off.

Match 4: The Great Khali vs. Carlito without Torrie Wilson or Ric Flair
Carlito clubs away at Khali but Khali with a shoulder block takedown. Carlito kicks away at Khali but Khali comes back with a headbutt. Carlito then rakes Khali's eyes and goes up top but misses a missile drop kick. Khali then nails the chop to Carlito and follows it up with a double handed chokeslam for the three.
Winner: The Great Khali
Rating: 1/4 * (This match was pointless as neither men have a match at Backlash yet. So it was pointless.)
After the match Ric Flair came out and checked on Carlito who pushed him away and asked him, "where were you," even though Carlito insisted before the match Flair stay in the back. Flair leaves the ring and gives Carlito a disapointed look on his face.

Mick Foley is backstage and talks about Make A Wish Foundation. Edge shows up and thanks Foley for having honory GM Michael Pena making it a fatal four way match at Backlash. Edge says he's gonna sit back, relax, and enjoy watching Cena and Michaels beat the crap out of each other.

Winner: Shawn Michaels
Rating: **** 1/2 (What a fantastic match!! Props to both for delivering basically a one hour match including commercials. While everything on the show was mediocre and boring this saved the show alot and should make people interested in buying Backlash just to see these two go at it still with the addition of Randy Orton and Edge. Great match!!)
Overall Rating: This show featured in my opinion the RAW MATCH OF THE YEAR! Cena vs. Michaels was good in so many levels. While the rest of the booking was chemistry 101. The obvious McMahon-Umaga domination stuff, to the heel tag team (Cade and Murdoch) beating the babyfaces (Hardys) again, and Melina beating Maria for the zillionth time. There was no Mickie, no appearance of the new Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella other than the video, no Randy Orton (What happened to that Orton vs. Edge match huh?) and no Candice Michelle! I gotta have me some Candice. Anyway tonights show gets a 7/10 from me basically saved from the great main event match which lasted the whole last hour and five minutes of the broadcast!
Backlash predictions: Edge or Cena probably going to go with the dark horse, Edge, The Undertaker, Bobby Lashley, Melina, The Hardys, and MVP
Have a good one, Jason
