Video package is shown of last week's iMPACT! and Lockdown last Sunday.
The Professor is in the ring and introduces Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett comes out to a very mixed reaction from the crowd. I'd venture to say the boos were louder. Tenay says after a six month absence he returned last week with a guitar shot heard around the world. It shocked everyone. At Lethal Lockdown he proved to everyone he was a different Jeff Jarrett when he handed the title shot to Sting on a silver platter.
Jarrett said in the last six months he decided that he'd come back and realize not everything revolves around Jeff Jarrett. It's time for him to give back. He looked back over his twenty year career, specifically his five year TNA career. Ever since Sting's come back he's given. This is what he's going to do. Last week was step one, Lockdown was step two. Stop three is going to surprise everyone. Cue Angle.
Angle comes to the ring and asks Jeff if he really came back to make things right. Kurt called him and invited him back for a day. He was ridiculed for having him on his team. Nobody trusted him. Kurt's integrity was questioned. Jeff hands Sting the title shot, the guy who hates him and doubts him most of all. Jeff needs to make things right with him, nobody else. Jeff said he doesn't need to, he joined Lethal Lockdown and helped them win. This business is all about timing. Sting was in the right place at the right time. Kurt says he's in the wrong place at the wrong time. Cue Sting.
Sting says if Kurt has a problem with how he got the shot, he has a problem with him. The past six months he's been to hell and back with Abyss. All the while he's heard the voice of Kurt. Kurt sounds like he's the leader of TNA. Jeff's been wrestling for twenty years, and so has he. If his figures are right, Kurt's less than ten years. If it wasn't for guys like Jeff and him he'd be a gold medalist gym teacher. If Kurt wants a shot at the title, or at Cage, then it's going to be Sting and Kurt next week. Winner gets the shot at Christian Cage.
(Eval- Nice opening segment. I'm hoping that was scripted and not a shoot. If it was a shoot, there's going to be some bad blood between Angle and Borden. Rating- **)
Backstage Cage says he'll worry about Sting and Angle later. Tonight he managed to pull some strings. He's going to become one half of the tag team champions. Abyss is going to be his partner. Cage calls him embarrassing. He embarrassed everyone at Lockdown, he lost it for them. Cage has given him chance after chance after chance. If Cage doesn't leave tonight with three gold belts, he's going to be a very unhappy champion. If he's unhappy, Team Cage is unhappy.
(Eval- Wasn't really needed, but it was funny to hear and see AJ and Steiner repeat everything Cage said. Rating- *)
Christopher Daniels, Rhino, AJ Styles and Samoa Joe make their way to the ring. Daniels came down wearing a Sting mask and carrying a Sting bat.
Commercial.
Christopher Daniels v. Rhino v. AJ Styles v. Samoa Joe
Joe and Daniels lock up, two Thai kicks from Joe, attempt at a roundhouse. Caught by Daniels. Daniels off the ropes and crashes into him three times. Smack to the jaw of Daniels. Down in the corner, boot to Daniels' jaw. Back up, right hands to Joe, reversal into an inverted atomic drop. Daniels tags in Rhino.
Rhino and Joe go face to face before trading right hands. Knee to Rhino's gut, side head lock applied by Joe. Blind tag by Styles. Styles tells Joe to hold Rhino for him, Joe lets go. Multiple rights by Rhino, back body drop. Styles off the ropes, clothesline. Tag to Joe, kick to Styles' stomach. Slap, front kick sends Styles down. Joe off the ropes, dropping knee. Styles tags in Daniels, double team attempt before Joe fights back out of the corner with multiple rights to both men.
Joe hits a jaw breaker on Styles causing Daniels to clothesline Styles. Tag to Rhino, TKO on Styles, spine buster to Daniels. Two count. Styles runs towards Joe, momentum sends Styles to the outside. Hip toss by Rhino on Daniels. Rhino sets up for the Gore. Charge, Daniels connects with the bat he brought to the ring. 1-2-3. Christopher Daniels wins.
Post-match Joe asks him what he did. Styles in, Joe and Styles trade blows.
(Eval- An okay match that didn't last very long. I'd like them to replace Rhino with Jerry Lynn and see these four go at it with more time. Rating- * 1/2)
Commercial.
JB's backstage with Angle. Angle says to not let speechless be confused with what was going through his mind. Earlier Sting made the worst move of his career. If you want to challenge Kurt Angle, the best, is a mistake. Only having eight years in this business means he's still in his prime. Maybe it's time for him to step aside. Or maybe he should push him aside. It's going to be real. Damn real.
(Eval- An okay promo, I've seen him do better. Rating- 1/2 *)
Chris Harris and Gail Kim come to the ring. Jackie Moore comes down and pulls Gail Kim off of the apron. Brawl ensues into the crowd.
Commercial.
Chris Harris v. Robert Roode
Roode blind sides Harris with a couple shots to the back of the head. Harris down, boots connect to his stomach. Chops before shooting Harris into the ropes, elbow drop. Roode off the ropes again, knee drop. Two count. Harris off the ropes, shot to Roode's back. Harris attempts a vertical suplex, Roode slides over, side suplex. Two count. Harris fights back, right hands to Roode. Harris off the ropes, flying forearm then a fist to Roode. Roode into the corner, bulldog. Two count. Roode off the ropes, Harris catches him. Catatonic, two count because Ms. Brooks pulls the ref out of the ring and then blames it on Eric. Roode gets a pair of cuffs and uses them as brass knuckles. Ref back in, 1-2-3.
(Eval- Not interesting at all, blah. Rating- 1/2 *)
Post-match Eric shoves Ms. Brooks. Roode slaps the taste of his mouth and throws him in the ring. Roode says he's tired of him embarrassing him. He's sick and tired of Young trying to make a fool out of him. He notices when he cheers for Roode's opponents. He hasn't forgotten Lockdown when he tried to screw him. He owns Eric. He wants to know if he's still mad that he beat up his friend at Lockdown. Eric says Petey is not "the friend." Roode says he has no friends. If he really does, he wants his name right now. He has one week to tell him who his friend is or he will fire him on national television.
(Eval- Interesting. They're playing this out fairly well. Rating- *)
Backstage Mitchell is yelling at Abyss. The only reason that his bitch of a mother is not in prison is because Cage asked him to not call so Abyss could help him put the titles around Cage's waist. If Abyss doesn't do that then that filthy woman is going to prison.
(Eval- I want this to end and Abyss to become a face. Rating- *)
Commercial.
Paparazzi is backstage. Shelley asks why he's not teaming with "the black kid" next week. Nash says he has it setup for a three way. Machismo says a three way? He's a one woman man. Nash says he means a match. Machismo says he's making sense now. Dutt comes out dressed like Diesel. Machismo says now he can step over the top rope. Dutt breaks character causing Lethal to do so. He says Nash has nothing for him, he looks like a joke. Dutt tells Nash to 'stick it'.
(Eval- Decent. I like how Shelley called him 'the black kid'. Rating- 1/2 *)
LAX is sitting with Tenay and West. Video is shown of their match with Team 3-D at Lockdown.
Christian Cage & Abyss v. Team 3-D
Cage mounts the offense against D-Von, kick to his stomach then multiple punches to his face. D-Von off the ropes, ducks under Cage, knocks him down with a flying fist. Reversals in the corner as both men exchange rights. Cage to the second rope, D-Von catches him with a neck breaker. Tag to Ray, leg drop/slide slam combo. Cage tags in Abyss.
Lock up, Abyss sends Ray down with a couple of fists. Ray fights back, reversal sends Ray into the corner. Ura-nage by Ray, two count. D-Von tagged in, double team sends Abyss down. D-Von with a two count. Abyss off the ropes, kick to D-Von's chest. Tag to Cage. Cage up top, diving fist into D-Von's chest. Multiple boots to D-Von's throat before using the ropes as leverage to apply pressure. D-Von flipped over, kick to the back of his neck. Abyss tagged in, D-Von into the corner and Abyss misses the splash. D-Von off the ropes, splash of his own. Two count.
Cage in, Ray in. High back body drop on Cage by Ray. D-Von into the corner unloading rights to Cage. Opposite corner has Abyss fighting back on Ray. D-Von up top, Abyss catches him and puts him on his shoulders. Cage up top, D-Von slides off and pushes Cage off. Abyss hit with the 3-D. 1-2-3. Team 3-D wins.
(Eval- Decent enough match for being thrown together with no real storyline. LAX didn't interfere, which makes me happy. Rating- * 1/2)
Post-match Cage is in the ring yelling at a fallen Abyss.
Commercial.
Back in the ring, Abyss is still getting yelled at by Cage. Abyss sets him up for a chokeslam but Mitchell is yelling at him. Cage slaps Abyss and spits on him. Abyss with a big fist to Cage, splash in the corner. Cage up for the Shock Treatment. Mitchell in, yelling at Abyss. Cage is put down, Mitchell slaps Abyss. Abyss sets Mitchell up for a chokeslam. Team Cage run to the ring and proceed to maul Abyss. Abyss fights back, clearing the ring. Abyss asks the crowd if he should hurt Mitchell. Mitchell takes out his cell phone and threatens to call the police. Abyss slaps the phone out of his hand and hits him with a Black Hole Slam!
Abyss outside, grabbing the tacks from underneath the ring. Back in, Team Cage assault Abyss again. Cage with a chair, cracks it over Abyss' head. Cage hands the chair to Tomko, shot to Abyss. Steiner with the chair, shot to Abyss. Styles with the chair, shot to Abyss. Steiner grabs another chair and both he and Cage continue to beat him with the chairs. Styles grabs a baseball bat covered in barb wire, multiple shots to Abyss' arms. Bat placed under Abyss on top of a chair. One man con-chair-to! Four members of Team Cage stand strong as we go off the air.
(Eval- Wow, I loved that. Abyss had a wound from his barb wire match with Sabu, and it got busted back open by those bat shots. Rating- ** 1/2)
Final Analysis- This was a nice iMPACT!. Nothing spectacular, not as good as last week, but nice. I'd like to see the advancement of Jarrett, Sting, Daniels and Abyss. 5/10. Goodnight folks.
