WrestlingObserver.com reports that WWE was very happy with the publicity that the Donald Trump-Vince McMahon slap angle drew.

Numerous mainstream outlets, including CNN and E!, have run with the story, giving WWE a last publicity surge before the Sunday pay-per-view.

That final wave was something of a spirit booster for WWE, which had otherwise been disappointed with the publicity it received for the Battle of the Billionaires match. While the prospect of Trump losing his hair did get picked up by a number of major publications, WWE was apparently expecting the angle to be perceived as a significantly bigger deal.

WWE still could end up turning the angle into something truly big, however. In addition to the publicity for the slap storyline, WWE is looking to score major interest in the match's aftermath—the company is negotiating to feature McMahon and Trump, one with a bald head, on Good Morning America Monday morning.
