Brief overview of the second show, the 7:30 show
-Henry Godwinn and Cousin Ray def. William Regal and Dave Taylor
Uneventful opening contest, was at souvenier stand
-Kevin Thorn w/ Ariel def. Balls Mahoney
Can't get an appreciation of Thorn's size and mobility until you see him
live. Balls couldn't get the crowds support the way he wanted. 5/10
-Triple threat for cruiserweight championship: Chavo def. Gregory Helms and
Scotty 2 Hotty. Scotty got a huge pop, maybe because he is a New Englander,
but I still can't understand it. 4/10
-Sandman def Matt Striker. Striker claimed he wanted to wrestle in the ring
not fight outside like Sandman wanted. So Sandman accommodated him with one
of his better wrestling performances in years. Its just a shame the WWE
limits his TV time to walk-ins and canning people. 4.5/10
-Michelle McCool def Kristal Marshall. Thought this was gonna be a yawner
but it wasn't bad for a divas match. Both, especially Kristal have
potential. Missed spots, but for the most part, better than anything Melina
or Maria could do 2/10
-Intermission had Jillian come out to throw t-shirts to the crowd but she
started singing instead, which prompted Big Dick Johnson to come out, which
prompted the Great Khali to come out, which led to Kane coming out for their
match. Supposed to be a no-DQ, but given the lack of ability that Khali
has, the ref got knocked out and the locker rooms emptied and it was a full
fledged brawl. The bell sounded and Kane's music hit while the ref was still
"knocked out", which I found to be weird but whatever. 3/10
-marcus Cor Von and Elijah Burke def. Tommy Dreamer and Sabu. Expected way
more, especially from Sabu and Dreamer, but it was a house show and the 2nd
of the day for them so I can see why they kept the holy shit factor down.
Ther new breed got a lot of heat for bad mouthing MA, but then dreamer
started ragging on Cor Von saying he was on the Patriots super bowl team as
the towel boy. Not a bad match, not a great match. 4/10
Fatal 4-way for world title: Batista def. Mr. Kennedy, Finlay, and the
Undertaker. As expected, one of the better matches of the night. Mr.
Kennedy truly is the future of sports entertainment. His timing is
impeccable and he sells the hell out of everything. Mark my word, he will
be a champion of one of the brands by start of 2008. Undertaker looked to
be in the best shape of his life. He has never been as lean and ripped as
he is now. He may be on the downward swing of his career peak, but someone
forgot to tell his body that. Like I said, best match of night, ended w/
The 'roid freak Batista almost botching his Batista bomb on Finlay. For a
guy as big and strong as Batista, you would think he would have no problem
power bombing someone Finlay's size, but he did. I liken it to the Batista
bomb he put on King Booker at Summerslam, as I was there too. On PPV and
the DVD, you cant really tell, but he nearly dropped King Booker on his
head. He has to get it together if he thinks he is gonna take the 'Taker.
6.5/10
All in all a decent show, good excuse to get out of the house with the
little bro on a Saturday night. The show wasn't great but seeing him go
buckwild is worth the price of admission 10 times over.
Biggest Heat:
1. Mr. Kennedy
2. Elijah and Cor Von
3. Finlay
4. Matt Striker
Biggest Pops:
1. Undertaker
2. Batista was a very close second, if not tied, but I don't like him
so I'll give it to 'Taker
3. Kane
4. Scotty 2 Hotty & Sabu and Dreamer-tied
