TNA Wrestling iMPACT! Thursday, November 23, 2006 iMPACT! Zone; Universal Studios Soundstage 21
Recaps of Genesis are shown displaying Jim Cornette stripping LAX of the NWA Tag Team Titles and of Kurt Angle defeating Samoa Joe in the Dream Match of the Decade.
The Show opens with the new NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion Abyss (w/Father James Mitchell) walking to the ring. Don West and Mike Tenay recap how Sting became possessed at Genesis and how it led to his DQ and his losing of the NWA Heavyweight Title under TNA rules. Mitchell takes the mic and says that his preaching of honor and respect did nothing and that it was better to laugh with the sinners then cry with the saints. Mitchell says deep down inside Sting was no different than Abyss and Mitchell after what he did last night. He says that Sting was still wallowing in the riches that come with the Title and he walked down the highway to hell and Sting should come home for good. This brought out Sting but Tenay and West quickly point out that this Sting is an mask wearing imposter. The imposter runs Abyss and Mitchell to the outside and then unmasks to prove himself to be Christian Cage. He mentions that if dressing like a complete moron is what it takes to get his title shot than so be it. Cage looks to the mic and asks Sting a hypothetical question. What if Sting couldn’t make it to the Turning Point PPV to invoke his rematch clause? This brought the real Sting down to the iMPACT !Zone from the rafters. Sting says he will get his rematch and that he has no problem mowing down Cage to get it because he was in a bad mood tonight. As Cage ran for higher ground he said he could care less about Sting’s mood he only cared about himself and the title shot he deserved. Sting vs. Cage with the No. 1 contender-ship on the line tonight!
Kurt Angle arrives at the iMPACT! Zone as the show cuts to a commercial break.
Match One: AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels v. The Franchised Naturals As entrances commence it is announced that this is the last time that Styles and Daniels will team together. The Naturals jump Daniels and Styles before the opening bell. The Naturals controlled most of the match focusing their offence on the Fallen Angel while constantly throwing Styles out of the ring. Styles finally gets back into the mix with a top rope clothesline. The finish occurs with the X Division superstars hitting the High/Low on Andy Douglas followed by the Angel’s wings and a AJ Styles frog splash on Douglas to get the win. Shane Douglas is outrages by his team’s loss, but back off as all the X Division stars step to the ring to applaud watching this great team’s last match. Rhino is the next to Storm to the ring in attempt to congratulate the team but AJ Styles is still seemingly bitter from their Genesis dispute and storms out of the ring. Winner: Styles and Daniels
West and Tenay preview the rest of tonight’s show as Eric Young runs around the soundstage in turkey outfit.
The Voodoo Kin Mafia are shown in a Stamford Connecticut promo video near the operation HQ of WWE. BG and Kip James are shown going over the “accused wrongdoers”, Michael Hickenbottom and Paul Levesque (HHH and Shawn Michaels). The VKM simply explain that they are bringing a war to them and Vince McMahon.
Jim Cornette is shown in the six-sided ring and invites Petey Williams to the ring. Williams says even though he had issues with the TNA fans as well as the US in the past but he had an opportunity to stop the destruction of the American flag that graced him an opportunity to succeed. Cornette says he wants a rigging lowered so they could hang the American flag but LAX hits the ring with the title belts. Konnan has a lawyer with him who served some papers to Cornette saying TNA violated their 1st amendment rights. Petey then serves a stiff right hand to the jaw of Konnan, but Hernandez and Homicide quickly beat down Williams. This brings AMW to the ring and an all out brawl ensues. Kurt Angle then hits and clears LAX out of the ring. Mike Tenay says it best with the comment that no one represents the USA like Kurt Angle. But then Samoa Joe’s music huts as the show cuts to a commercial.
The show returns live and Joe is staring down Angle explaing that he was undefeated for 18 months, but was defeated inevitably to a champion and one of the greatest wrestlers today. Samoa Joe asks only one thing: That Angle accepts Joe’s challenge for a rematch. Angle says that Joe made him fight for his life and that the rematch happens only if nothing happens to each of them before Turning Point. So Angle and Joe have to be each other’s bodyguards.
The VKM are shown again driving through Stamford vowing to end the ridicule that WWE puts wrestling fans through. BG James explains that the VKM must hit their target and with it is “victory.” The VKM stops the car and Kip makes a battle run to a building. BG stops and stares down Jip when he realizes that Kip dod not take them to the target, but instead to a Target store. BG calls Kip an idiot as he walks away.
Bobby Roode and Ms. Brooks are live in the ring and calls Eric Young, who is still pumping up the live crew, an idiot for his wearing of a Turkey suit. Roode challenges Young to a match as the show cuts to another commercial break. Match Two: Showtime Eric Young v. Robert Roode Young marches to the ring without discarding the suit. Roode doesn’t let Young get to the ring before he attacks. Roode drops Young in the top rope but Young fights back and misses a moonsault. Roode gets a bit too cocky and before the match can get rolling in Roode’s favor Young scores a double leg pin for the win. Roode takes the mic in a rage and taunts Brooks for his losses in the ring and the fans not loving him. Roode believes that Young could cheat and still have the fans love as well as winning a presidential election. Before leaving Roode says he felt Young could beat Brooks in a bikini contest. Winner: Eric Young
Paparazzi productions show Kevin Nash calling a mandatory X Division meeting. Nash compares the X Division to college football and unveils the PCS (Paparazzi Championship Series). Also Nash explains that he will use it to seek out the top X Division competitor. Sonjay Dutt and Jay Lethal find it to be a joke and eventually leave the room as Nash, Austin Starr and Alex Shelley taunt them.
-Commercial Break-
Match Three: Sting v. Christian Cage Jim Cornette joins in on commentary as Sting silently follows Cage during his entrance and jumps him from behind. Sting heavily beats up on Cage outside the ring even slamming Cage into a wall. Sting sends Cage back into the ring where the beating continues until Cage gets on the offensive with a missile dropkick. The fans are all over Cage chanting “Christian Sucks.” This doesn’t appear to get to Cage as he continues to plant right fists into Sting’s face. The fans eventually get to Cage as Christian turns around to taunt them. This is the opening Sting needs to get fired up. He does just that. Sting counters an un-prettier with the Scorpion Death Drop. Without skipping a beat Sting locks in the Scorpion Death Lock. Out of nowhere TYSON TOMKO runs into the ring and along side Cage beats down Sting. Tenay reminds fans in the past that Christian hired Tomko to be his “problem solver.” As the show ends Cornette says he has a lot to think of heading into next week’s show. Winner: No Contest
Finally the VKM accidentally runs into WWE HQ’s Titan Tower and says in a glee: “We’re back!” as the show concludes.

This was a really good show that I thoroughly enjoyed. I’m scared that it will not get the rating it deserves as it faces stiff competition from NFL on Thursday. I think the booking was wonderful and the cliffhangers after each segment made me want more. I am not sure I agree with how Robert Roode’s push is being handle. For such a hot free agent he has appeared really weak. I love the Tomko signing as long as it is handled right. But more importantly, Happy Thanksgiving, peace and much love everyone! Send feedback and I will continue to utilize them!
