ECW Report August 22, 2006 Wilkes Barre, PA:

    The ECW intro is shown.

ECW World Title SummerSlam rematch The Big Show vs. Sabu is later tonight.

Extreme Bikini Contest: Torrie Wilson vs. Kelly Kelly

Torrie comes out first in a red robe. Kelly follows in a blue robe. Both ladies look tremendous. Torrie goes first and she reveals a two piece silver sequence looking absolutely stunning. Kelly is up next and before she can take her robe off Mike Knox and Test run down and cover her up. Sandman's music hits and he and Tommy Dreamer run down as Test and Knox bail. Sandman says us three vs. you three right here and right now.

6 Person Mixed Tag Team Match: Test, Mike Knox, and Kelly Kelly vs. The Sandman, Tommy Dreamer, and Torrie Wilson

Torrie grabs Kelly and brings her in the ring. Torrie nails some kicks in the corner and pulls up her bikini into a thong and gives Kelly a stinkface. The girls tag out and Dreamer and Test tag in. Test dominates with two back breakers and a side slam for two. Outside the ring Test sends Dreamer spine first into the ring post. Back in the ring Test and Knox double irish whip Dreamer hard. Test applies a bear hug but Dreamer counters with a neck breaker. He tags Sandman who cleans house and nails the white russian leg sweep on Test followed by a senton splash off the top rope to Knox! He covers but Test pulls him out the ring but Sandman counters and throws Test face first into the ring post. Knox comes back and goes for a leg drop but Sandman moves and tags in Dreamer who nails a huge DDT for the win.

Winners: Torrie Wilson, Tommy Dreamer, and The Sandman

Rating: * 3/4 (Good match and I'm digging this feud with Test/Knox/Dreamer/Sandman.)

Backstage Paul Heyman tries to talk out The Big Show to not face Sabu again tonight. Show says he's got this and says Sabu can't use any weapons tonight during his match and that Show is a walking weapon.

    -Commercial-

Backstage Matt Striker says he is your new teacher in ECW. He says brawn works only some of the time but brains work all the time. He says he's bringing brains to ECW.

Match 2: Extreme Rules Match: Kevin Thorne with Ariel vs. Balls Mahoney

It's pretty much a back and forth contest but outside the ring Balls throws Thorne face first into the announce table and throws water in his face. In the ring Thorne nails a clothesline. Thorne takes his walking stick and shoves it throat first into Balls and then hits him with the stick numerous times. Mahoney nails a spinebuster for two. Mahoney grabs for a chair but Ariel bites his leg and Thorne kicks the chair right into Mahoney's face and places him on the ropes and delivers a modified stunner for the win.

    Winner: Kevin Thorne

Rating: * (I like the Vampire gimmick for Thorne and Ariel and Thorne is more entertaining now than he was as Mordecai.)

    Show vs. Sabu tonight.

    -Commercial-

Backstage Shannon Moore is shown somewhere and says something but I couldn't understand what he said.

Match 3: CM Punk vs. Christopher W. Anderson

After back and forth mat work and arm locks Anderson nails a huge left hand to Punk. He throws Punk shoulder first into the turnbuckle. Punk counters and does a neat submission on the ropes kinda like the tarantula but much cooler. Anderson nails a spinebuster for two. CM comes back and nails a huge knee to Anderson's face and follows with a bulldog. Punk roundhouse kicks Anderson and then nails the uranagi. CM applies the Anaconda vice and Anderson submits.

    Winner: CM Punk by submission

Rating: * (Another nice showcase from Punk.)

    Still tonight Show vs. Sabu

Backstage Sabu says he's Sabu and tonight The Big Show is going down.

    -Commercial-

They show the Marine trailer again.

Backstage Heyman is talking to Hardcore Holly whose making his return to the new ECW after about missing a year of action. Heyman says there's this guy who didn't want me to sign you Hardcore and I know you have tons of anger and says this guy is turning everyone against you. He says Holly needs to make an impact.

Match 4: Rob Van Dam vs. Danny Doring

RVD rolls up Doring in a scissors pin for two. Doring nails a neat spinning cradle suplex for two. RVD counters and kicks Doring in the face and clotheslines him down. RVD follows with a monkey flip and jumps off the top rope with a side kick and nails the rolling thunder. RVD then goes up top and nails the 5 Star Frog Splash for the win.

    Winner: Rob Van Dam

Rating: 3/4 * (Ok match that was really short but RVD stood out.)

Hardcore Holly then comes down and nails RVD with a stiff chair shot to the head. He then nails Doring with one as well. Hardcore then Alabama Slams RVD. (I personally think Hardcore Holly fits really well in ECW considering ECW is hardcore and that's his first name.)

ECW Champion The Big Show vs. Sabu in next.

    -Commercial-

Backstage Rene Dupree says when he looks in the mirror he see's the most extreme athlete in ECW.

    Match 5: ECW Championship:
(champion) The Big Show vs. Sabu

They show footage of Show beating down DX from SummerSlam. Show headbutts Sabu twice and chops him hard in the corner and once in the middle of the ring. Big Show then military presses Sabu onto the ropes and out of the ring.

    -Commercial-

A table is set up on the outside. Show bodyslams Sabu and then taunts the crowd. Show nails a hard clothesline to Sabu. Show then applies a bearhug to Sabu and then throws Sabu down hard to the mat after Sabu tried to rake his eyes. Big Show who couldn't see very well missed Sabu and speared the referee! Show catches Sabu and nails a fallaway slam. Sabu grabs a chair and nails it twice to Big Show's head. Sabu jumps off the top rope and nails the chair directly in Show's face. Sabu then nails the triple jump moonsault and leg drops Show with the chair for advantage. Sabu covers and another referee runs out. Sabu only gets a two and a half. Sabu gets the ring bell and nails Big Show right in the face with it. Sabu then nails him over and over about 7 times nails Show with the ring bell up until Show tumbled through the ropes and fall out of the ring through the table!

Winner: The Big Show by disqualification

Rating: * 1/2 (Ok match and better than there terrible bout from SummerSlam.)

Show is busted open as Sabu celebrates.

Overall this show was a mild one with no Kurt Angle which is truly a shame. But I do like some of the storylines like Sandman and Dreamer vs. Test and Knox and with ECW getting up and coming stars like Matt Striker, Rene Dupree, Shannon Moore, CM Punk, Kevin Thorne, and even veteran Hardcore Holly shows they are really making their roster stand out more with more new faces and talent they'll sure be ready for their December PPV in no time. ECW keeps getting better and better but slowly though.

    Overall Rating: 6

Ok I am going to officially stop reporting the ECW reports. Ok technically I was just filling in so for you out there who love ECW and want to spread your voice to everyone e-mail Calvin Martin at webmaster@lordsofpain.net if you are interested in the position. See you all for Smackdown!
