WWE Friday Night Smackdown August 4, 2006 Continental Airlines Arena:
The Smackdown intro is shown and we are ready to go!
Later tonight Batista vs. Mr. Kennedy.
Also King Booker vs. The Undertaker.
Match 1: United States Championship
(Champion) Finlay vs. William Regal
The two lock up but Finlay gets the better. Regal then takes the advantage with some elbows and knee lifts. Finlay comes back and slams all of his weight into Regal's gut. Finlay works on Regal's gut but Regal fights back and nails a gut wrench suplex for two. Regal slaps Finlay and Finlay goes for his shillaleigh in retaliation. The referee takes it away from him as Regal cowards out to the outside. The Little Bastard sneaks up from behind and Finlay throws him into Regal. The little guy pounds away at Regal and goes back under the ring. Finlay dominates until Regal can counter with some dirty kicks and knees to Finlay's face. Regal grabs Finlay's shillaliegh but Finlay takes it from him and nails Regal with it causing the disqualification.
Winner: William Regal by disqualification.
Rating: * 1/4 (About on par with what these two have been delivering the past two weeks which is ok, solid action.)
After the match Bobby Lashley makes his return only to get nailed with the slillaleigh to the ribs by Finlay. Finlay then tricks Regal and nails him with the shillaleigh as well. Lashley gets back up and nails a running powerslam on Regal and signals Finlay he wants his belt back.

Match 2: Elijah Burke with Sylvester Terkay vs. Scott Wright
Elijah Burke is in the ring. He introduces Sylvester Terkay. Instead of Terkay defeating jobber Scott Wright he allows Burke to wrestle him. Burke dominated the entire match which consisted of sleeper holds and arm locks. Burke did hit a nice dropkick and clothesline for two close threes. Burke finishes Scott off with a front russian leg sweep and a arm lock submission hold which Wright submits to.
Winner: Elijah Burke by submission
Rating: 1/4 * (Burke has potential, now only if they drop him from the terrible Terkay and let him show his arial moves then he could be a star instead of all his submission crap.)
Miz is in the back saying the Diva Search contestants have 30 seconds to say why they should win.
Jen England is first and after about 12 seconds she gets pied! She says she loves pie and goes to chase the guy who throw it in her face.
Later tonight King Booker vs. The Undertaker
-Commercial-
Milena Roucka is in the back. She gets pied and jokes about it saying she loves this flavor.
Match 3: Ashley Massaro vs. Kristal Marshall
Ashley lands a forearm and punches away at Kristal. Ashley lands a bodyslam followed by an elbow. Kristal comes back with an enzuigiri. Kristal stands on Ashley's hair and controls the match. Kristal missed a dropkick and Ashley does some weak offense moves. Ashley goes for a monkey flip but Kristal pushes her off and covers but grabs Ashley's tights for the three.
Winner: Kristal Marshall
Rating: No rating (Kristal has potential, why couldn't she have won the diva search last year instead of a rocker chick who can't wrestle worth a lick?)
Layla El is next of the Diva Search contestants to get pied. She just acts natural and rubs the pie all over herself!
Later tonight Batista vs. Mr. Kennedy
Also King Booker vs. The Undertaker
-Commercial-
The Raw rebound is shown (How come they never show the Smackdown rebound during Raw?! What discrimination towards Smackdown!)
Match 4: Tatanka vs. Sylvan
Tatanka attacks Sylvan from the beginning and controls most of the match with body slams and leg drops. That is until Sylvan plays possum on the outside and clotheslines Tatanka. Sylvan then controls the match with a knee to the head and to the back. Sylvan lands a neat spinebuster for a two count. Tatanka fights back and nails a back body drop to Sylvan. Tatanka then nails two clotheslines and a samoan drop for two. Tatanka lands the tamahawk off the top rope for another two count. Tatanka follows up with a spinning version of the rock bottom for the three.
Winner: Tatanka
Rating: * 1/4 (Hopefully this doesn't end Sylvan's push as he is a hard worker and good wrestler.)
Mr. Kennedy is shown walking backstage and he faces Batista next!
Match 5: Mr. Kennedy vs. Batista
They lock up and Batista sends Kennedy in the corner. Kennedy applies a head lock and switches into an arm lock. Batista later spears Kennedy in the corner and throws him across the ring. Kennedy immediately runs to the outside and Batista quickly follows. Kennedy bites Batista's head but Batista fights back and throws Kennedy shoulder first into the ring post. Batista then starts working on Kennedy's arm. Kennedy comes back with a huge dropkick to Batista's knee. Kennedy then starts working on Batista's knee for a few minutes. Batista goes to suplex Kennedy but Kennedy drops his weight and covers Batista for a close three. Batista nails a huge clothesline and then two clotheslines in the corner followed by a back body drop to Kennedy. Batista nails Kennedy with a huge spinebuster. And he follows it up with the Batista Bomb! Batista beats Kennedy!
Winner: Batista
Rating: ** 1/4 (Good match and Batista's best effort since returning back from injury.)
Michael Cole gets a word with Batista afterwords. Batista says he doesn't want any congratulations until he wins back the World Heavyweight Championship!
-Commercial-
Erica Chevillier tries to talk but stumbles over everything! She gets pied and says vote for her cause she's willing to get pied.
Match 6: Vito vs. The Brooklyn Brawler
Vito and Brooklyn fight a back and forth match. Vito lands two clotheslines and follows up with a huge DDT and flashes the crowd. Vito then applies his submission hold while putting Brawler's face in his crotch. And Brawler submits.
Winner: Vito by submission
Rating: 1/4 * (Pretty boring match and Vito isn't really going anywhere with the dress storyline. I mean is he just going to beat jobbers everyweek or maybe give him a shot at a title or something because this is getting useless.)
J.T. Tinney is in the back and just stands there not saying anything. Ok at least she looks good. Somebody finally gives her a cue and she says oh and gets pied. She says oh my gosh. I hope she doesn't get eliminated this Monday for not saying anything. They didn't give her a cue so still vote J.T.!
Miz hypes the Diva Search and who to vote for blah, blah, hoo rah!
Theodore Long is in his office being pointless except for one appearance per show. Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP) debuts and says Long needs to sign him. Porter gives Long his cell phone and Long talks to his agent and is shocked at what the costing price for Montel is! (Another new face! Nice!)
Chavo Guerrero is on the record later tonight.
And of course still happening King Booker vs. The Undertaker.
-Commercial-
Match 7: Funaki and Scotty 2 Hotty vs. Aaron "The Idol" Stevens and K.C. James with Michelle McCool
Stevens and James dominated the entire match. Michelle cheated by grabbing Scotty's leg. Scotty finally got the offense in and makes the tag to Funaki who cleans house. But soon the heels destroy them both and finishes off Funki when Stevens slingshotted him into James who landed a dropkick off the turnbuckle for the three. WWE Tag Team Champions Paul London and Brian Kendrick were shown backstage scouting the new tag team during the match.
Winners: Aaron "The Idol" Stevens and K.C. James
Rating: 1/2 * (At first it was going to be a 1/4 * but since WWE is finally getting some new tag teams and using their Divas on Smackdown as valets and not wrestlers they get another 1/4 * equaling a 1/2 *. Question is will these three be the new MNM?)
Backstage King Booker is brightened up by Queen Sharmell about having to face The Undertaker later tonight. The two shar a kiss.
Up next Chavo Guerrero is on the record.
-Commercial-
Chavo Guerrero comes out and basically trashes Rey Mysterio saying he used Eddie's name and fame to get where he is. And that Rey used Chavo to cheat and beat JBL and Mark Henry so he can retain the World Heavyweight Championship. Rey comes down to the ring and the two fight back and forth. Rey throws Chavo into the ring steps. Vicky Guerrero runs down and seperates the two. She pushes them both and says they are embarrasing her.
-Commercial-
They show Batista beating Kennedy earlier and Batista's claim about winning back the World Heavyweight Championship!
Match 8: World Heavyweight Champion King Booker with Queen Sharmell vs. The Undertaker (Non Title Match)
The Undertaker controls Booker in the opening and sends Booker over the ropes with a clothesline.
-Commercial-
The two are fighting on the outside. Booker chops away at Undertaker. Taker comes back and starts to work at Booker's shoulder. Taker calls for old school but Booker throws him off from the turnbuckle to the mat after a distraction from Sharmell. Taker finally connects with old school. Taker drops Booker face first and covers. He gets a two count. Taker goes for a knee to Booker's shoulder but Booker moves and Taker gets hung up on the ropes. Booker moves Taker to the ring post and slams his leg across it. Back in the ring Booker nails a thrust kick for a two count. Booker follows up with a side kick and gets another two. Booker nails a leg drop between Taker's legs. Booker goes for the scissors kick but Taker punches away at him. The two trade blows with Taker getting the better. Taker clotheslines Booker twice in the corner and nails snake eyes on the turn buckle followed by a big boot for two. Taker nails a huge chokeslam on Booker. The Great Khali and Daivari come down to the ring and Khali chops Taker in the head causing a disqualification.
Winner: The Undertaker by disqualification
Taker fights back with rights and lefts and clotheslines Khali over the tope rope. Taker grabs a mic and tells Khali, you, me, Summer Slam. Last man standing match! Taker stares Khali down as we go to a close.
Rating: ** 1/2 (Good main event match. Undertaker looked fresh in the ring after his long vacation. Booker's just always good.)
Overall this weeks Smackdown was a mild step up from last week. We did get 8 matches! We got two new debuts with Michelle McCool managing Aaron "The Idol" Stevens and K.C. James who seem to have potential. As well as the comedic side of (MVP) Montel Vontavious Porter who also debuted this week. Batista vs. Kennedy and Booker vs. Undertaker were good matches and Sylvan vs. Tatanka and Finlay vs. Regal were solid as well. Hopefully this fued between Ashley/Kristal is over and more of Elijah Burke wrestling instead of Slyvester Terkay. Vito goes knowhere, while the Chavo/Rey storyline seems to be going somewhere. I just hope they take Eddie off of the storylines and have some respect for him and his memory.
Overall Rating: 7
Until next week see ya!
