ECW House Show Results from Fitchburg, Massachusetts 7-30-06

This is the Live report for ECW in Fitchburg, MA. The event took place at the Wallace Civic Center, a Hockey rink. The center was I would say 65%--70% full the empty seats represented general admission seats which were bleacher seats so to speak with no seat numbers. I am an ECW fan from the olden days and truly going to an event now does not represent ECW of old to any degree. In 1998 going to an ECW event their was electricity felt as fans knew that
the action would be fastpace and fans were hot prior to the event even beginning ECW chants before the show started. Today, very little chanting prior to the event and a heavy dose of young fans at the event ranging from 5-13 years old. To rate this event in terms of the vision of ECW in Vince McMahon eyes I would give this a 6 out of 10.





1) Balls Mahoney beat Eric Perez

Balls was extremely popular with the fans and received a very good pop. Eric Perez wears a Bandanna and simply does not fit the part as he does not look Hispanic, more white then Hispanic. Crowd became extremely tired of arm drag take downs and arm bars.



Reaction: Being objective here and giving the new ECW a chance, this was not a way to begin this event, a slow paced action with two relatively slow workers. Fans began chanting "We love arm bars" throughout the match. Balls Wins after a very long match which featured no outside action and no chairs AT ALL.



(2) Newkirk & OReilly beat The FBI.

I enjoyed this match not because of the action but because this new tag team might actually have a chance to take off. Not certain of which is which, but the one with the sideburns looks to have potential and resembles Sean O'hairre. The tag team has a heel character and both drew heat from the crowd very well. FBI played the chaser team with Mamuluke begging for the tag finally to get it and end the match. FBI wins.



Reaction: Decent match, yet more arm bars and arm drags than I have ever seen, I can accept the new ECW yet a slow down style that ECW is portraying does not allow it to differentiate itself from a live WWE show except for the fact that fans understand that eventually your going to see
Sandman cane somebody and Sabu fly using a chair and go through a table of some sort.



(3) Mike Knox beat Stevie Richards.

Mike Knox has good size. Stevie Richards is in extremely good shape. Yet another slow match with Knox getting the win.


Reaction: Mike Knox needs to do a better job of playing the heel. He lacks the fan interaction that is necessary to draw heat. Yet he is big and does appear to have upside.



(4) Francine Beat Kelly Kelly in a bikini contest

Francine looks good. Her butt does appear to have jelly flopped but upper body and face is still great. Kelly's body is amazing, her face is beatifull but her boobs are much smaller then Francines and I have a feeling some work will be done. Francine wins, Jazz comes down attacks both Kelly and Francine. Then precedes to get on the mic and state " Da Bitch is Back"



Reaction: Kelly is beautifull, brings back the memory of seeing Sunny with Candido in ECW at ringside. I have a feeling Francine is playing the DIVA leader role much like Torrie Wilson in WWE. Jazz is in amazing shape and look for her to play a part in the women's uhhhh division




(5) C.M. Punk beat Vampire.
C.M Punk received a huge pop and did not disappoint. I was standing next to a fan that offered Punk gum and he politely said he already had one but he'd be back if he needed one ( more on this later). Ariel is an amazing DIVA and understands her role and her portrayal of a sex goddess is dead on. Excited to see more of her work. Punk in the ring is phenomenal. He is almost a breed of Chris Benoit style and look but much smaller but with similar passion and ring work. He will impress many live and will impress many more on television. CM PUNK won.



Reaction: After the match CM PUNK slapped hands and returned to the fan that offered him gum and ASKED him for the GUM. Amazing CM PUNK character is not only fresh, but his charisma can be felt and that's a clear indication of talent. Punk has made me a fan.





(6) Sandman beat Justin Credible by DQ

Credible played the heel role, got on the mic and dissed the crowd and the city of Fitchburg. Sandman came through the crowd and received a huge pop. Match was OK. Slow style paced. Justin Credible in my opinion deserves a chance yet I don't think he will get one. Sandman Wins. Test runs down…spears Sandman………



Reaction: Sandman looks good physically and also appears to have gotten his teeth whitened no joke. Decent match yet Sandman's character I feel may play too much of a babyface. I believe he needs to find a middle ground between swigging beers and doing his thumbs down shtick.



(7) Test & Mike Knox beating Sandman & Tommy Dreamer.
Test is in extremely good shape and believe it or not appears to be on top of his game. I think out of all the wrestlers even including CM PUNK, Test showed me more today then all of them. He just looks reinvigorated and ready for his second chance. Slow to start as Knox and Test played possum outside and interacted with the fans. Match finally started slow match, nothing hardcore, Sandman was not even bleeding. No chairs no tables. Just a standard match. Test, Knox win.



Reaction: Test looks great and his character is great. At this point were headed to the last match their has been to use of CHAIRS or tables and very little outside action. Again I cannot express the leaps and bounds Test has made with his character. Look for him to continue to improve.



(8) Big Show beat Sabu to retain the ECW World Title

Big show as you guess is massive. Sabu as you guessed is scarred. Match was decent.. Sabu completely goofed a spot and LIVE seeing this you could see it coming. Attempting a triple jump moonsault ( chair) the BIG SHOW was not placed in a good position forcing Sabu to attempt to shift his body as he jumped on the rope, leading Sabu to fall on his behind and screaming " F**K ". Anyhow the match ended with a BIG SHOW chokeslam.



Reaction: Show is a good champ at the moment and the fans got to finally see chairs and tables yet again the action was not fast paced but it did cure the fans desires for hardcore which lead to a heavy "ECW" chant which was not visible the whole night.




OVERALL REACTION:

Very little chanting. "ECW, ECW,ECW" was only chanted maybe twice. A lot of " We love armbar" chants. The new ECW is nothing like the old ECW, but you still have the contingency of old ECW fans mixed in who will start a chant or two and will be rough on the wrestlers especially in the case of the SABU missed spot and the fans were all over him. Again I emphasize your going to see a lot of slow action and very little high work rate. Expect a WWE type show flying under the ECW banner.
