WWE Friday Night Smackdown July 28, 2006 Detroit, Michigan:

Hello and welcome to Friday Night Smackdown!

The show starts with a recap of the Great American Bash PPV highlighting Rey Mysterio vs. King Booker for the World Title match and Chavo's turn on Rey causing Booker to win the title!

Smackdown intro and pyro!

Tonight Rey vs. Booker in a GAB World Title rematch. Also Finlay vs. Regal for the U.S. Title.

Match 1: Mr. Kennedy vs. Batista

Mr. Kennedy's music hits and he makes his way to the ring. Exclusive footage is shown of Kennedy getting stiched up backstage after his match at GAB. Kennedy guides Tony Chimel to the outside and announces himself. Batista comes
out to a huge pop. They lock up with Batista getting the better. Batista spears Kennedy in the corner a couple of times. Kennedy kicks Batista at the knees
and starts working away at them with stiff kicks and hard elbow drops. Kennedy drops Batista knee first. Kennedy follows up and drop kicks Batista's knee in the corner. Batista punches his way back into momentum and clotheslines
Kennedy in the corner. Batista follows up with a backdrop. Kennedy bails to the outside. The two exchange blows outside. Batista goes to clothesline Kennedy but he ducks and Batista nails the ring post instead! The referee is
counting and Kennedy makes it into the ring at 9 but Batista doesn't and is counted out!

Winner: Mr. Kennedy by count-out.

After the match Batista tries to attack Kennedy but Kennedy bails. Batista is pissed off!

Rating: * (Really short match but ok and around the same as their GAB outing)

Match 2: Vito vs. Simon Dean

Vito in a flower dress makes his way to the ring. They show footage of Vito shopping while wearing a dress earlier today. Simon Dean comes down and Vito quickly attacks him on the outside. Simon dropkicks Vito in the ring and nails
some elbows. Simon agressively kicks away at Vito. Simon spears Vito in the corner. Vito fights back with right hands but Simon with a high knee and two boots to Vito's gut stops the comeback. Simon puts on an arm lock submission hold. Vito fights out and back suplex's Simon. Vito clotheslines Simon a couple of times and knocks him down with a flying clothesline. Simon kicks Vito
in the jaw and pulls something out of his fitness bag. Vito makes a comeback and nails a huge DDT and locks on his arm submission with Simon's head in his crotch. Simon taps!

Winner: Vito by submission.

Rating: 1/2 * (Ok match, atleast Simon didn't job the whole match and got some decent ring work on Vito)

Next Miz is going to get a word with Rey Mysterio after the break.

-Commercial-

Miz is in the back with Rey and asks him how he feels about Chavo's betrayal. Rey said winning back the World title is the only thing on his mind right now.

Match 3: Tatanka vs. Sylvan

Tatanka makes his way to the ring for action. Sylvan makes his way out making Quebec proud I'm sure. They go to earlier today with Sylvan hyping Quebec. They lock up and Sylvan kicks Tatanka and puts a headlock on. Tatanka counters with his own headlock. Tatanka chops Sylvan's chest and hip tosses him to the mat. He followes that up with a body slam and Sylvan bails to the outside.
Sylvan thumbs Tatanka in the eye and drives him shoulder first into the ring post. Sylvan throws Tatanka into the steel steps on the outside which looked like Tatanka landed on his shoulder again. Sylvan throws Tatanka back in and
covers for two. Sylvan locks in an arm bar submission to Tatanka's hurt shoulder. Tatanka fights out with punches and chops. Sylvan backsuplex's Tatanka and turns it into a clothesline in midair. Sylvan continues to work on Tatanka's arm and nails and arm breaker and covers for two. Sylvan with another arm lock and Tatanka fights out again and back drops Sylvan. Tatanka chops away at
Sylvan and body slams him to the mat. Tatanka goes up top to the top rope and jumps but Sylvan catches him with a drop kick in midair. Tatanka counters Sylvan's offense and samoa drops him for two. Tatanka misses an elbow and Sylvan grabs Tatanka's tamahawk but Tatanka throws it down and the referee gets it to the outside while Sylvan low blows Tatanka and nails a TKO or a spinning RKO
for the win.

Winner: Sylvan

Rating: * 1/2 (Sylvan's a very good worker and he had a nice little match here with Tatanka)

After the match Sylvan takes Tatanka's Indian head gear and throws it down disrespecting Tatanka.

Later tonight Rey vs. Booker for the World Title.

Ashley Massaro and Jillian Hall are shown walking backstage. Jillian faces Michelle McCool next.

-Commerical-

They recap the terrible four way bra and panties match from the GAB.

Match 4: Michelle McCool with Kristal Marshall vs. Jillian Hall with Ashley Massaro

Michelle McCool comes down to the ring with Kristal Marshall with her. Both looking mighty fine. They don't look to happy. Jillian Hall's music hits and she is accompanied by Ashley Massaro. They look good as well. Michelle laughs at Jillian's body and lands a hard slap across Jillian's face. Jillian forearms Michelle back into the corner and goes for the cartwheel elbow but Michelle elbow's Jillian in the head instead. Michelle puts on a headlock but Jillian fights out so Michelle drops Jillian back first unto her knee. Jillian counters and finally connects with the cartwheel elbow in the corner. She follows up with a monkey flip to Michelle. Jillian then nails a crossbody. Jillian puts Michelle's face into her breasts and rolls her up for two! Michelle kicks Jillian in the face but Jillian counters with a samoan drop. Jillian front flips into a legdrop but Michelle moves and stacks up Jillian and covers her with her feet on the ropes for three.

Winner: Michelle McCool

Rating: 1/2 * (Ok, Jillian's the best wrestler of all four divas, but if next week we get Ashley vs. Kristal I'll probably not be so kind with the ratings)

After the match Kristal and Michelle celebrate the victory as Ashley and Jillian look on displeased.

Sharmell invites us all for Booker's celebration next!

Also Chavo Guerrero will talk about his turn on Rey next.

They recap the World Title match at GAB again, highlighting Chavo's turn against Rey.

Michael Cole asks Chavo why he attacked Rey. Chavo says he feels he owes no one an explanation. He says he'll be at Smackdown next week and he'll educate Rey on the name Guerrero!

Tony Chimel introduces Queen Sharmell and the new World Heavyweight Champion King Booker! Some horn blowers come out and do their job making the music. A flower girl comes down and throws flowers on a red carpet. Booker and
Sharmell are being transported by a carriage. They wave to their peasants. Balloons are falling everywhere. JBL stands in respect. Queen Sharmell gets in the ring and says all peasants bow down for the new World Heavyweight Champion and the new King of the World, King Booker! Booker has a girl in the front row kiss his hand. Booker slowly makes his way into the ring and sits in his throne.
Fireworks began to shoot off of the throne! Booker thanks his loyal subjects. He invites us all to tonights festivities hosted by the gracious and benevolent King, King Booker! Booker announces himself the new King of the World when Rey attacks Booker from behind! Rey sets Booker on his throne and plaunches himself on Booker making the throne to tip over! Rey 619's Booker as well and walks to the back sending Booker a big message!

They recap what just went down with Rey and Booker.

William Regal and Finlay are backstage. Regal confronts Finlay about the Little Bastard. Regal and Finlay yell back and forth at one another. Finlay calls Regal an SOB and Finlay says Regal's in for a fight tonight!

Match 5: United States Championship
(Champion) Finlay vs. William Regal

William Regal makes his way to the ring looking very angry. The U.S. Champion Finlay is out next. This is for the United States Championship. The two lock up and Finlay rakes Regal's nose and stands on his hand. Finlay
clotheslines Regal. Finlay uppercuts Regal. Regal does the same back. Finlay uppercuts him once more and drives Regal head first into the mat. Finlay snapmares Regal
and drives all of his weight to Regal's gut. Finlay applies a sleeperhold to Regal. Regal fights out but Finlay rakes him in the eye. Finlay pushes Regal's head hard into the apron. Regal kicks Finlay in the head and throws Finlay
face first into the ring post. Regal drives his knee into Finlay's temple. Regal locks in an arm lock but Finlay fights his way out so Regal rakes Finlay's eyes. Regal drives his knee's into Finlay's head. Regal nails a butterfly suplex and covers for two. Regal nails another vertical suplex for another two count. Regal exposes the top turnbuckle and when the referee puts it back
on the Little Bastard runs in the ring and nails a low blow to Regal with the shillaleigh! Finlay sneaks up and rolls up Regal and grabs the tights for the three!

Winner: Finlay

Rating: * 1/4 (About the same as there GAB effort as well)

After the match Regal is really upset as Finlay high fives the little guy under the ring.

Up next Diva Search in a musical chairs contest.

The Raw rebound is shown.

The Miz is in the ring. Jen England, Layla El, Erica Chevillar, Milena Roucka, Rebecca DiPietro, and J.T. Tinney make their way to the ring. This is a musical chairs contest. Layla is eliminated first. Jen is out next. Erica is gone next. Milena is out next. Rebecca is out.
J.T. wins! Rebecca pushes J.T. over in the chair! What the! Still J.T. wins!
Miz runs through the girls and to go out and vote or don't which I'm sure most of you are doing! I'm not!

Backstage Teddy Long gets interupted by Paul Heyman. Heyman extends an invitation this Tuesday when the ECW Champion The Big Show takes on any Smackdown
superstar for the ECW Championship. Long accepts and announces the man to face Show will be Batista! Heyman has a think twice about it look on his face!

Match 6: Sylvester Terkay vs. Matt Hardy

Elijah Burke and Sylvester Terkay are in the ring. Burke introduces Terkay. Matt Hardy comes out next. Terkay takes down Hardy twice. Terkay puts on an arm lock on Hardy (what's up with all of the arm lock submission tonight?).
Terkay pushes away at Hardy's face while holding on the submission. Terkay nails a belly to belly suplex for two. Hardy punches away at Terkay and goes for the twist of fate but Terkay kicks Hardy in the face and locks in another yep you got it arm lock and Matt submits!

Winner: Sylvester Terkay by submission

Rating: No rating (Sylvester Terkay is terrible and is NO Kurt Angle!)

Match 7: World Heavyweight Championship
(Champion) King Booker with Queen Sharmell vs. Rey Mysterio

King Booker and Queen Sharmell are already nearing the ring, This match is for the World Heavyweight Championship! Rey Mysterio comes down to a huge pop. Booker and Rey lock up and Booker chops away at Rey in the corner. Rey punches back at Booker. Rey sunset flips Booker for two. Rey then nails a front dropkick Booker for another two. Rey nails a huge bulldog and then goes for the 619 but Booker bails to the outside.

-Commercial-

Rey and Booker lock up again and Rey kicks away at Booker's legs. Rey nails 10 punches in the corner to Booker's face. Booker goes to kick Rey but Rey moves and Booker nails himself crotch first into the ropes! Rey dropkicks Booker to the outside and goes to crossbody Booker over the top rope but Booker moves. Rey holds his knee. Booker nails a thrust kick for two. Booker punches away at Rey. Booker chops at Rey's chest in the corner. Booker whips Rey back
first into the turnbuckle. Rey fights back but Booker nails a sideslam for two. Booker locks in an arm lock (yeah another match with an arm lock) on Rey. Booker knees Rey and chops him some more. Rey comes back with a flying
headscissors. Rey with the senton off the ropes and covers. He gets a two and a half. Rey nails a springboard crossbody for another close three. Booker catches Rey but Rey counters with the three amigos! Sharmell distracts the referee as Chavo runs out and pushes Rey off of the apron and back first to the barricade. Chavo throws Rey back into the ring and Booker nails the scissors kick for the three.

Winner: King Booker

Rating: ** (Fine main event although I liked their GAB match better)

King Booker and Queen Sharmell celebrate Chavo's doings as Rey is down on the mat to end the show!





Overall this weeks Smackdown looked to have alot of potential with seven
matches! But it wasn't unfortunately! It was an alright show! They did showcase
Vito, Sylvan, and the debut of the very green Sylvester Terkay. And why even
order the GAB when we got three free rematches here with the same result and
same winners! The main event was fine and King Booker and Queen Sharmell
really entertain me! I wanna see the tag team champs Paul London and Brian Kendrick more. You
can't just have them on PPV's and gone the next cause we don't know much
about them. Give them mic time! And Gregory Helms is the longest reigning
Cruiserweight Champion ever, well then let him be on the show then.
