Here is a real brief summary of tonight's smackdown tapings.
Dark Matches:
Ryan Wilson def. Funaki.
Jamie Knoble def. unknown masked wrestler.
Smackdown:
Show opens with Mr. Kennedy. He comes out, does his thing with the mic, then Batista comes out and we have our first match of the night. The whole show tonight could pretty much be called The Great American Bash Part II. It was mostly repeats. Mr. Kennedy wins his 2nd match in a row against Batista by count-out. Both men were outside the ring fighting, and as the ref counted to 10, Kennedy snuck back in at 9.
An invitation is shown on the big screen cordially inviting everyone to the "biggest celebration in the history of the WWE" for King Booker. It's also announced that King Booker will meet Mysterio in a re-match, as well as a re-match with Finlay and Regal.
Vito def. Simon Dean.
Sylvan def. Tatanka.
Michelle McCool def. Jillian.
An interview is held with Chavo backstage. We could only hear the answers, not the questions. It was real brief and I believe Chavo said he would explain his actions next week.
The halfway point arrives and it's the celebration for King Booker. The ring has red carpet and the throne is in the center. First, two trumpet players come to the top of the stage as a very young flower girl comes out sprinkling rose pedals all the way down to the ring. The Queen comes out next and announces the arrival of King Booker, who is brought out in some sort of carriage. He eventually makes his way into the ring, balloons drop from the ceiling, and he sits in his throne. After the fireworks go off on his throne, Mysterio runs out and takes out the King. Mysterio controls most of the chaos until the refs take him away. End of segment.
Finlay def. Regal courtesy of the leprachaun. Good pop by fans for Finlay.
Sylvester Turkey managed by Elijah Burke def. Matt Hardy.
The Raw Diva search was next, went out for a break during this so I couldn't really tell you anything other than JT won musical chairs.
Main event saw Booker def. Mysterio courtesy of a run-in by Chavo.
Overall, not a bad event. No Undertaker or Khali. However, after ECW went off the air, the Great Khali's music hit and he came out. Then, the Undertaker's music hit and he came out to his 5-minute long entrance. They ended up having a tag match of Kane/Undertaker vs. Khali/Big Show. I could not tell you the result because the majority of the group decided to leave after this almost-4 hour event.
Fans in attendance tonight were given out order forms to get tickets to WM23 before anyone. It is a mail-in order form and ticket prices were $750, $250, $100, $50 and $30. Fans tonight have until Aug. 11 to mail-in their form and I believe it said tickets would be mailed out in November.
