TNA camera crews were at Sting’s home in California this past week for a two-day shoot, which saw the wrestling legend record several hours of footage about his life and career. During the shoot, Sting gave his candid comments on a wide variety of subjects, including his early years in the sport, the rise and fall of WCW, religion in his life, his family, coming to TNA, the future of the business and so much more! Sting also offers candid comments on such names as Ric Flair, Eric Bischoff, Hulk Hogan, Lex Luger, Kevin Nash, Bret Hart and many more of the personalities he’s worked with. In addition, the wrestling legend offered TNA cameras a rare look into his vast collection of wrestling memorabilia, including never-before-seen photos and ring gear he has worn over his career. “The Sting release is probably the most important DVD project I’ve ever been involved in, both personally and professionally,” said Bill Banks, who produces TNA’s line of home videos. “When we (Banks and fellow producer Simon Edwards) sat down with Sting to discuss the project, we wanted to make it special. Our competitor may own the footage of Sting’s history inside the ring, so we thought it was important to give the fans something they can’t – the man behind the facepaint. We want this to be Sting’s lasting legacy to all the fans that supported him over the years, and I’m confident everyone will enjoy it.” “Sting: Return Of An Icon” is the first Sting DVD release in nearly a decade and is a comprehensive look at the career of the wrestling legend from the man himself. The DVD will include two major parts – the first being an extensive look back at his career, the second being his return to TNA. Included on the four-hour DVD will be the following: - In-depth interviews with Steve Borden from his home in California, including such topics as: Steve Borden growing up How he got into wrestling The hardships early in his career His thoughts on being a catalyst of the wrestling boom of the 1990s Making the transition from the “colorful” Sting to the darker Sting His candid thoughts on the downfall of WCW Why he stepped away from wrestling after WCW Why he ultimately chose to return to wrestling for TNA Positive and negative ways wrestling has changed Some of the craziest moments from his career His personal favorite matches and moments Advice to those that want to get into wrestling Comparing the Sting of today to the Sting that first entered the ring Maintaining a family with a career in wrestling Finding religion in his life and being saved His thoughts on the future of professional wrestling What he would like to do once he finally hangs up the boots And much, much more “Sting: Return Of An Icon” DVD also includes: - A complete chronicle of Sting’s return to TNA Wrestling, including the following complete and uncut matches: Final Resolution: Sting & Christian Cage vs. Jeff Jarrett & The Alpha Male Impact: Sting vs. Eric Young Lockdown: The Lethal Lockdown with Sting’s Team vs. Jarrett’s team Sacrifice: Sting & Samoa Joe vs. Jeff Jarrett & Scott Steiner King of the Mountain Qualifier: Sting vs. Scott Steiner Impact: Sting & Christian Cage vs. Jeff Jarrett & Scott Steiner Victory Road: Sting vs. Christian Cage vs. Scott Steiner vs. Samoa Joe - Never-before-seen photos of “The Man In Black” from his childhood, growing up, early days in the sport and more - A look at his movie release “Sting: Moment Of Truth” - Footage of Sting at home with his family - Bonus footage includes Sting’s first TNA match in June 2003 with Sting & Jeff Jarrett vs. AJ Styles and Sean Waltman from the Nashville “Asylum”, footage of the star putting on his facepaint, Sting music videos, exclusive backstage footage and more! “Sting: Return Of An Icon” will hit stores in October. Doors open at 7:00pm, Show starts at 8:00pm. ********DOUBLE MAIN EVENT******** SPECIAL ATTRACTION "CAPTAIN CHARISMA" CHRISTIAN CAGE vs. "THE ALPHA MALE" MONTY BROWN Two of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling's top superstars will battle each other TONIGHT. Christian Cage, a 13-year veteran, is a former NWA World Heavyweight Champion (def. Jeff Jarrett on February 12, 2006). He is also a former WWE Light Heavyweight, European, and Hardcore Champion, a former 9-time World Tag Team Champion, and a former 3-time Intercontinental Champion. Monty Brown, a 5-year vet, is a former linebacker in the National Football League. He played football professionally for five years, competing in Super Bowl XXVIII for the Buffalo Bills in 1994. Brown also played briefly for the New England Patriots in 1996. Trained by Dan Severn & Sabu, Brown made his debut in 2001, and has been a top contender for the NWA World Title since January 2005. Cage and Brown are no strangers to each other. Upon his arrival in TNA, Christian had to deal with Brown over who was the #1 contender for Jeff Jarrett's NWA World Title. Christian was successful then (at TNA Turning Point 2005), and went on to defeat Jarrett for the World Title. Brown was unsuccessful in taking the title away from Cage at TNA Destination X 2006. Brown has waited a long time for revenge. TONIGHT in Baltimore, Brown will get that chance, as he has a golden opportunity to eliminate a major contender for the World Title, a title that he has never held. MCW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP - FANS BRING THE WEAPONS MATCH ADAM FLASH (champion) vs. CORPORAL PUNISHMENT The personal animosity between Doug Becker and Dan McDevitt goes back to 2002. On January 30, 2002, McDevitt placed Adam Flash in a match against the late, great Eddie Guerrero. McDevitt always believed that Flash did not appreciate the moment of wrestling one of the greats. Flash claims that he did. Nonetheless, problems began there and continued until the last show in 2003 (Shamrock Cup V). During and after the event, Flash made some comments that did not please the MCW owner. Flash was upset, as he found out that he had to qualify to advance to the finale, even though he was one of the Cruiserweight Champions at the time. He also accused McDevitt of using Shamrock's name to make money for himself. And Flash voiced more negative opinions when McDevitt was negotiating with Gabe Sapolsky and Ring of Honor to continue the Cup (prior to the resurrection of MCW), saying that "ROH running the Shamrock Cup would have been a slap in the face, as ROH didn't even know who Shamrock was." He would proceed to say that "Dan McDevitt is one of the biggest piece of s@!# in the business." Tempers flared again when, during an event in Fort Meade in October 2005, McDevitt has Flash removed from the facility by military police. Flash, somehow, was able to sneak into the MCW Arena in March 2006, and attacked McDevitt in the ring. Security escorted him out, and no charges were filed. In May, Flash would return. Only this time, Flash would attack Candie, the wife of the MCW owner. Another brawl erupted, and McDevitt immediately challenged Flash to a fight. The match was not sanctioned, as MCW provided the time and the ring at Shamrock Cup VI. Adam Flash vs. Corporal Punishment ended in a no-contest, as the locker room emptied to pull these two apart, once the State Athletic Commission stopped the match for excessive violence. Security tried to step in, but Corporal attacked them viciously with a steel chair. Flash would use this moment to attack Candie once again, nearly taking her head off with a vicious lariat. Flash was then escorted from the building. Afterwards, Corporal Punishment announced that he will face Adam Flash TONIGHT, at the Fort Meade Army Base in Odenton, MD, where there are no commission rules. It will be a match where FANS BRING THE WEAPONS. Corporal has promised that he will bring the barbed wire, thumbtacks, and fire! An added stipulation is that this match is now for the MCW Heavyweight Championship. Flash used a loophole to win the title at Shamrock VI, defeating Julio Dinero. Can the owner of the company become the company's champion? And what will Corporal Punishment do, in the effort to destroy Adam Flash? There will be no rules, no disqualifications, no count outs, and no time limit. And you, the fans, can bring the weapons that the wrestlers will use during this match. Parental Guidance is strongly suggested, as this match will not be for everyone. All hell will break loose in the main event TONIGHT at Fort Meade! *****OTHER MATCHES INCLUDE***** MCW RAGE TV CHAMPIONSHIP - FATAL FOUR WAY MATCH DANNY JAXX vs. QENAAN CREED vs. JOSH DANIELS vs. "DIE HARD" EDDIE EDWARDS MCW CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP - SPECIAL CHALLENGE MATCH Shamrock Cup VI Winner RUCKUS (champion) vs. JD MICHAELS CAPTAIN'S CHALLENGE MCW Tag Team Champion JASON STATIC vs. BRUISER **If Bruiser wins he and Genesis get a tag team title match** LADIES TAG TEAM MATCH CANDIE & ANGELA vs. APRIL HUNTER & A MYSTERY PARTNER BEST OF 3 GIMMICK MATCH SERIES - MATCH #3 THE SLACKERS (Chad Bowman & Lunchbox Dino Divine) vs. THE HOLY ROLLERS (Earl The Pearl & Ramblin Rich) DEREK FRAZIER vs. SONJAY DUTT Also appearing: Kelly Bell & Buzz Stryker TICKET INFORMATION Tickets are available at the door or via TicketMonster.com. or marylandwrestling.com You can also pick up the tickets at the TicketMonster offices, located at 303 Frederick Rd in Catonsville, MD.
