WWE Smackdown July 21, 2006 Corpus Christi, Texas:
Hello everyone and welcome to this edition of Friday Night Smackdown! First off I would like to say what an honor it is to write this Smackdown report. I would like to thank everyone at Lordsofpain and hope all of you out there reading this enjoy my first Smackdown report.
The show starts with Theodore R. Long in the ring stating that Mark Henry was injured at Saturday Nights Main Event. He says since Batista was supposed to face Henry in a number one continders match at the Great American Bash that will not happen now. Mr. Kennedy's music hits. He makes his way to the ring and a mic drops from the top of the building. Kennedy says everyone has been talking about him not Batista. Kennedy challenges Batista for a match at the
Great American Bash. He says the winner of the match will be Mr. Kennedy!
Batista's music erupts as Batista makes his way to the ring to a huge pop and looking as pissed off as ever. Batista accepts the challenge and says he has had 6 months of anger and hatred and knowone to take it out on. He says Mr. Kennedy will do just fine then. Kennedy puts out his hand and Batista does also, but Kennedy does the pyshc move and jumps out of the ring. The two have a staredown. (I had a feeling Batista vs. Mark Henry would main event at GAB, but I doubt Batista vs. Mr. Kennedy will)
Later tonight Finlay vs. Lashley in a United States Championship rematch.

Match 1: Brian Kendrick with Paul London vs. Kid Kash with Jamie Noble
The tag team champions Brian Kendrick and Paul London make there way out to the ring. Brian Kendrick is the one in action. The Pitbulls come out with Kid Kash doing the battle for their team. Kash attacks Kendrick from behind. Kendrick drop toe holds Kash and the two go back and forth with the action fast and furious. Kendrick moonsaults out of the corner but Kash dropkicks his knee. Kash kicks away at Kendrick's knee and starts working away at it on the apron. Kash puts on a version of a one leg Boston crab. Kendrick fights out but Kash clotheslines him down hard. Kash kicks Kendrick hard in the knee twice. Kendrick fights back but is short lived by a poke to the eye by Kash. Kash puts on another neat submission move and Jamie Noble puts out his hands and Kash grabs them for leverage. Kash with more kicks to the back now. Kendrick fights back but Kash snapmares Kendrick unto the ropes. That allowed Kash to destory his knee some more. Kendrick nails a neckbreaker and then clotheslines Kash to the mat. Kendrick nails a one legged kick to Kash's head. Noble gets on the ring to distract Kendrick but he moves and Kash runs into Noble. School boy for two by Kendrick. Kendrick goes for the Slice Bread #2 but Noble runs in and catches Kendrick. Kash changes positions and nails a huge brain buster suplex for the three. The Pitbulls upset the champs again!
Winner: Kid Kash
Rating: * 3/4 (Nice match and am looking forward to see what all four have planned for on Sunday.)
Teddy Long is talking to Chavo Guerrero about coming out of retirement. King Booker and Queen Sharmell barge in and demand a match with Rey Mysterio tonight. Long says he'll think about it but Chavo cuts in and says he is sick and tired of people disrespecting Rey. Chavo and Booker fight with words back and forth. Long says once again that he'll think about it and Chavo walks off.
Ashley and Jillian are shown chatting backstage and their match is next.

Backstage Long is talking to Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero. Rey accepts Booker's challenge.
Match 2: Michelle McCool and Kristal Marshall vs. Jillian Hall and Ashley Massaro
Michelle McCool's music hits and she comes out with Kristal Marshall. Recap of last week's catfight involving Kristal/Michelle/Ashley/Jillian is shown. Jillian Hall's music hits and she comes out with Ashley Massaro. Jillian and Michelle start thins out and Michelle pushes her away and Jillian pushes back in resilliance. Jillian slams Michelle and drops a flipping elbow for two. Jillian does a handspring elbow in the corner and makes the tag to Ashley. Ashley puts on a headlock on McCool. Kristal grabs Ashley by the hair but Ashley punches he away. McCool nails a clothesline and tags in Kristal. Kristal steps on Ashley's hair and stands on it pulling up on Ashley's head. Kristal nails a suplex and goes for the cover but Jillian runs in and rips off Kristal's top! Ashley then rolls up Kristal for the win.
Winners: Ashley Massaro and Jillian Hall
Rating: 1/2 * (Ok match, Ashley, Kristal, and Michelle are still pretty green but Jillian can hopefully bring them to a good bra and panties match at GAB.)
Later tonight we'll see an early preview of GAB when Rey fights King Booker in a non title match.

Footage of the GAB press conference are shown.
The Great Khali and Daivari are in the ring. Daivari hypes the Punjabi Prison match saying there is no escape for Undertaker in the match. The way to win is by escaping though. Footage is shown of Undertaker getting destroyed by Khali in their horrible match at Judgement Day and footage of their storied rivalry. Khali and Daivari smile in the ring after seeing the footage.
Finlay is shown walking backstage and his match with Lashley is next.

Miz is backstage and interviews Lashley. They recap where Finlay beat Lashley to win the title by cheating last week. Lashley says Finlay is not the only one that loves to fight and walks off.
Match 3: United States Championship
(Champion) Finlay vs. Bobby Lashley
The new United States Champion Finlay comes out. Tony Chimel sounds sick tonight. Bobby Lashley comes out next to a huge pop. This is for the United States Championship. The two lock up with Lashley getting the better. The two staredown each other. Lashley takes Finlay down to the mat. Some nice mat work by Lashley. Finlay feins an arm injury. Lashley falls for it and Finlay punches at Lashley. The two staredown again. Lashley chokes Finlay in the corner and snapmares him followed by an elbow. Suplex to Finlay for two. The two lock up again and Finlay kicks and uppercuts Lashley twice. Clothesline by Finlay. Finlay grabs Lashley's shoulders and squeezes them. Filnay slams Lashley's head into the turnbuckle and punches away at Lashley's face. Lashley fights back with a shoulder block and another staredown between the two. Finlay with some more uppercuts. Finlay snapmares Lashley and drops his weight onto Lashley's stomach. Finlay places Lashley in a sleeperhold. Finlay tosses Lashley to the outside. Lashley blocks Finlay and slams Finlay kidney first into the apron. Finlay pulls Lashley off the steel steps and Lashley falls to the floor favoring his knee. Finlay works on his knee with a Boston crab and stretches his leg out. Finlay with another crab but Lashley makes it to the ropes. Lashley dropkicks Finlay and battle's back. But Finlay grabs Lashley's legs and continues working on his knee. Finlay uses the ropes but Lashley clotheslines him down. Lashley military presses Finlay onto his good knee. William Regal comes down to distract Lashley, but instead Lashley throws him in the ring. Finlay brings out the Little Bastard and the little guy splashes Lashley in the corner and Finlay picks him up and drops him unto Lashley. Finlay smashes Lashley's knee into the ring post and continues to work on his knee some more. Lashley kicks his way out but Finlay drop toe holds Lashley forcing him to lose his momentum. Finlay stretches out the leg some more but Lashley kicks away again. Lashley nails a couple of clotheslines and a belly to belly suplex. Followed by a huge vertical suplex for two. Regal attacks Lashley and the referee is clueless while checking on Finlay. Finlay exposes the top turn buckle. Finlay brings in a chair but Lashley kicks it in his face. Regal brings in a chair and Lashley spears the heck out of him! Finlay nails Lashley's head with a huge chairshot! The referee calls for the bell.
Winner: Bobby Lashley by disqualification
Rating: *** (A really good match. Both men worked hard)
After the match Lashley attacks Regal on the outside. Lashley then starts to work on Finlay. The Little Bastard comes out from under the ring and low blows Lashley with the shillaleigh. Finlay then nails Lashley in the head with the shillaleigh. Lashley is out cold as Regal and Finlay head to the back proud of their work.
Diva Search dance off is up next.

Miz makes his way out to the ring. Miz hypes the Diva Search. Jen, Layla, Erica (boo!), Maryse, Milena, Rebecca, and J.T. (Yah!) come down to the ring.

The girls are in the ring. Miz says they each have 30 seconds to dance. Jen is up first and gets a 6.5 from me. Erica is up next to dead silence and gets a 2 lol that sucked. Maryse is next and she gets a 6.5. Milena is next and she's the first girl to take any clothes off by revealing her bra. She gets a 7. Rebecca is next and she takes her clothes off as well. She gets a 7. J.T. is up last and she does it hot! She gets an 8. Jen, Erica, and Maryse get booed when asked by the fans. Layla, Milena, Rebecca, and J.T. gets some pops but Milena gets the loudest cheers and wins. Miz goes through the girls and how to vote for them.

Matt Hardy, Funaki, and Tatanka are backstage. Sylvan runs into them and promotes Quebec. He invites them all to to Quebec and leaves.
Match 4: Super Crazy vs. Psicosis
The Cruiserweight Champion Gregory Helms makes his way to the ring to do commentary. Super Crazy makes his way to the ring to do battle with former Mexicool Psicosis. Psicosis makes his way to the ring with new music. Psicosis punches and kicks away at Crazy. Psicosis with huge clothesline. Crazy nails an arm drag but Psicosis drop toe holds Crazy into the turnbuckle. Psicosis kicks away at Crazy whose on the ropes. Psicosis snapmares Crazy by the hair twice and slaps him acoss the face. Psicosis locks in a double leg submission. Psicosis grabs his arms and stretches him out. Crazy fights out but Psicosis throws him back down. Psicosis is raking Crazy in the eyes. Crazy punches away and nails a huge tilt a whirl backbreaker and dropkicks Psicosis to the outside. Crazy lands a moonsault on the outisde. Psicosis nails a huge kick back in the ring and drops Crazy face first from a powerbomb position for two. Crazy nails an arm drag into an Oklahoma roll out of no where for the win!
Winner: Super Crazy
Rating: * 1/2 (An alright but solid cruiser match. Hopefully Helms/Crazy match will be better than there match at Judgement Day)
After the match Crazy and Helms talked trash to one another.
Rey vs. Booker is up next.

They show Vito shopping while wearing a dress as everyone laughs at him.
They run over the GAB card.
Match 5: King Booker with Queen Sharmell vs. World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio (Non Title Match)
Queen Sharmell makes her way to the entrance ramp and introduces her man and her/our King and next World Champion King Booker. She does Regal's job and says All hail King Booker, but lucky for us she only says it about three times. Booker makes his way to the ring for his long entrance as JBL stands in respect. World Champion Rey Mysterio comes out next to a big pop. This is a non title match.
-Commercial-
Booker and Rey are locked up with the more powerful Booker getting the advantage. Rey kicks away at Booker's knees and nails 10 punches in the corner. Rey nails a spinning hurricanrana and calls for the 619 but Booker bails to the outside. Rey jumps on Booker on the outside with the senton splash. Booker gets the advantage back in the ring. Booker throws Rey hard stomach first to the mat for two. Booker nails two clotheslines. Booker follows up with a side kick for another two. Booker has Rey's arm in a submission hold wearing him down. Rey fights out but Booker nails a high elbow. Booker suplex's Rey rib first into the ropes and back first to the match for two. Booker puts Rey in a sleeperhold. Rey fights his way out again and goes for a crossbody but Booker catches him and splashes him down hard. Booker screams to Rey that Eddie can't help him and chops him across the chest a couple of times. Rey counters off the ropes with a bulldog. Rey with a dropkick to Booker's knee. Rey nails the senton splash off the rope for a quick two. Rey dropkicks Booker in the never regions and rolls him up for another close 2 count. Rey drop toe holds Booker and calls for the 619 but Sharmell grabs Rey's legs and drops him face first into the mat. Booker nails the Bookend and covers but Rey gets his leg on the rope to break up the count. Booker goes for the scissors kick but Chavo trips him. Rey kicks Booker into the ropes and nails the 619 followed by dropping the dime for the three.
Winner: Rey Mysterio
Rating: ** 1/4 (Fine main event but I know both will do better at the Bash. Just a preview.) Booker and Sharmell are pissed as Rey and Chavo celebrate as Smackdown goes off the air!
Overall I enjoyed this edition of Smackdown. All of the matches were decent and we didn't have any squash matches involving Mark Henry or The Great Khali. The main event was good but I guess since Rey won tonight, Chavo will turn on him this Sunday and Booker will reign supreme. Now I'm not Lashley's favorite fan but I think he's actually gotten really good in the ring recently and had a good match with Finlay. Now only if they can fix his mic skills then he'd be perfect. The Kash/Kendrick match was fine and showed us that they'll have a good tag title match this Sunday. The women match wasn't as good as the tag match between the women Monday on Raw but they all did fine for now. The diva search bores me but you have some hot girls there but fans vote off Erica she was runner up and looks ugly in the face and reminds me of Carmella cause she doesn't look like she wants it. Vote J.T.! The cruisers had a good match as well, hopefully Helms will finally drop the belt. Overall a good Smackdown that I enjoyed.
