    Smackdown! 6/23/06

Welcome to Smackdown! Coming from Albany, New York. We kick off tonights
show with footage of last weeks match between King Booker and Bobby Lashley.
Lashey asked for a rematch against King Booker this week, and he got it!

We are then welcomed by Mike 'The Miz' Mizanin, and announces a few of
tonights matches which include the defense of both the World and Tag Team
titles right here tonight. But we start off with our first match, which is
for the Tag Team titles right now.

    Tag Team title match
    London/Kendrick vs The Mexicools

We start off the match with Psicosis and London in the ring to kick things
off. Psicosis gets the upper hand with an arm twist, but London quickly
counters with a flip and hits a springboard arm drag of his own to build
some momentum. He then follows with a scoop slam to one half of The
Mexicools. Kendrick then makes the tag as he comes in and quickly hits a
body slam, but Psicosis gets a cheap thumb to Kendricks eye to shift the
momentum in his favor. Hitting an elbow drop, Psicosis tags in Super Crazy
who hits a shoulder block on Kendrick. London is now in again, as he uses a
unique tilt-a-whirl submission hold on Super Crazy. A few nice double team
moves are executed by the Champs throughout this match, as they quickly
build even more momentum. But Psicosis comes in and gets a headlock on
Longon, only to be countered into a perfectly executed mule kick. In the
end, it just wasn't The Mexicools night as Super Crazy went up to the top
rope to hit off a moonsault. But he didn't see the blind tag that Psicosis
had made, as he missed a moonsault of his own. Kendrick gets a rollup on
Psicosis to pick up the win, and keep their titles.

    Winner- London/Kendrick

(A very fast paced match, which finally London and Kendrick are getting air
time?! Smackdown needs to make better use of the Champs, because they have a
lot of potential to further their once lackluster careers.)

After the match, The Mexicools suddenly break down into a frenzy as Super
Crazy and Psicosis start attacking each other out of nowhere. Super Crazy
gets the upper hand, as he walks out on a fallen Psicosis.

When we return from the break, Batistas promo is once again shown and now
we're down to only 14 days left before Dave's return!

(I can't wait to see how they use Batista after his return. He'll probably
end up feuding with Henry again, and then go for the World title. This is my
    opinion on it anyways.)

Tatanka makes his way to the ring now, as we get set for our next matchup.

    Singles match
    Tatanka vs. Simon Dean

Dean comes out and starts talking about how Tatankas Indian casinos had
ripped him off of some of his money and how they screwed him. Eventually,
Tatanka get tired of it and attacks Dean at ringside.

Tatanka throws Dean into the ring as we officially start this match. Dean
hits a nice clothesline on Tatanks along with some pretty mean blows to the
back of his neck. Tatanka gets choked in the corner by Dean, but eventually
fires up and starts his chirping while hitting the Fitness Guru with an
atomic drop, and some of the most vicious chops there is in the business.
Suddenly, Tatanka explodes with a Samoan drop, but suddenly The Great Khalis
music hits as he comes down the ring to continue his destruction. Tatanka
tries to take the fight to Khali, but it has no affect as Khali shoves him
down with just a single hand. Tatanka again tried to throw a punch at this
monster, but he catches it with his hand and drops Tatanka effortlessly.
Then, Khali turns to Dean who is trying to beg him off, but Khali lifts him
with a choke and drives him violently to the mat.

    Winner - No contest

(When is the WWE going to realize that Khali is worthless, and is not
helping any. He doesn't draw the crowds, and WWE would probably make more
money just letting this guy go in my opinion.)

After the match, The Great Khali surprises everyone as he mocks 'Takers
signature pin on Dean, before we go to another commercial.

We are then shown footage of how Mark Henry took Batista out in the steel
cage with a section of the fencing, which lead to The Animal tearing his
triceps and being taken out of action, as The Worlds Strongest Man had
promised. Finlay is in action next, so stay tuned.

    Singles match
    Finlay vs. Gunner Scott

The match starts off with Scott running into the ring and tackling Finlay to
the mat, attacking with a flurry of blows. Finlay soon hits a headbutt on
Scott, then drops an elbow into his sternum. As Finlay picks up quick
momentum, he hits a clothesline and gets a headlock with a crossface motion
on Benoits protege. He then drives a boot into Gunners back for a nearfall,
followed up by a knee into his jaw. Scott tries to change the momentum, but
Finlay rakes the mans eyes. Scott counters with a boot to Finlays face,
before hitting a few hard uppercuts and suplexes. Eventually, Gunner hits a
shoulder block following through with a missile dropkick for a nearfall. But
once again, the leprechaun comes out only to be tackled by Finaly, which
then distracts the ref. With the refs attention away, Finlay clobbers Scott
with the shilleighli to pick up yet another win.

    Winner - Finlay

(I'm actually beginning to come around with Finlay, I like his smashmouth
style and that he does whatever it takes to pick up a victory. But the
leprechaun is hilarious, I hope the WWE keeps using Finlay like this.)

We're shown Ashley backstage now as Vito confronts her in drag, asking her
to go with him so that he can get some "beauty tips".

Chavo is next, being interviewed as he admits how strong and dominant Henry
is. We're then shown footage of Henry destorying Chavo from last week.
Guerrero goes on to say that Mysterioalways brings his "A" game, and is 100%
sure that Rey will come out of the match still World Champion.

Henry is now interviewed, saying he doesn't care HOW many Guerreros support
Mysterio. "Have you ever heard and felt ribs crack, or a tendon snap right
off the bone?" he asked, and says that Batista will be put out for good this
time. Benoit, Angle, and Chavo have all felt his strength and tonight
Mysterio will find out what it means by "His head will be split to the white
    meat."

(A week segment here, that really didn't serve any purpose except that Chavo
was hinting that he would add some assistance to Rey during the match. Who
    knows?)

Regals music hits, introducing King Booker as we get set for this what seems
    to be an epic match.

    Singles match
    Lashley vs. King Booker

The two start off with an elbow and collar lock up, as Lashley scoop slams
King Booker to the mat, only for Booker to quickly roll out of the ring and
rethink his gameplan. Booker eventually gets the upper hand, kicking Lashley
in the midsection and following with a few chops. Lashley comes back with
some shoulder blocks in the corner followed by a snap suplex for a nearfall.
Booker then goes after Lashleys injured leg, followed by more chops and an
irish whip into the corner. Both men viciously collide in the middle of the
ring, and it looks worse than a train wreck. Booker then tries to suplex the
United States champion, but somehow Lashley gathers his strength and hits a
suplex of his own. Regal and Finlay had already interfered, using the
shilleighli on Lashleys injured leg, but he wasn't out just yet. Lashley
hits some high elbows and clotheslines before executing a nice
belly-to-belly for another nearfall. Booker hits the thumb to the eye, as
the refereee is distracted. Sharmelle tosses a chair to Booker, who misses
as Lashley laid both Regal and Booker out in the middle of the ring, picking
    up the DQ.

Winner by DQ - King Booker

(I like the work being done between these two, I'd like to see some more
build up, because both men have the talent to main event a PPV if given the
    right timing.)

Mizanin announces yet again that the World title is being defended tonight,
but Mr. Kennedy....Kenndy comes out, interrupting the Smackdown! host for
    this next match.

    Singles match
    Mr. Kennedy vs Funaki

Kennedy attacks Funaki before the matchs gets underway with a clothesline,
then tosses him hard into the steel ringpost. Kennedy then slams Funakis
left arm into the post, and targets it before kicking him in the back and
getting a nearfall before hitting an armbar on Smackdowns announcer. Funaki
tries to pick up momentum, but gets quickly knocked down as Kennedy hits a
hard Samoan drop. Kennedy finishes this match by hitting his Kenton Bomb on
Funaki to pick up the easy win.

    Winner - Mr. Kennedy

(I really love Mr. Kennedy now. He's loaded with potential, and not to
mention entertaining before every match. I hope he eventually gets out of
    the mid card, though.)

King Booker is shown in the locker room, complaioning about Lashley trying
to take him out with that chair. But TRL comes in and announces they're
going to have another match next week, but there won't be any interference
because it will be inside of a steel cage!

Now, we have our main event for the World title.

    World Heavyweight Championship title match
    Mark Henry vs. Rey Mysterio

Henry starts off getting in Mysterios face, who tries to attack but Henry
just overpowers the Champ. Henry violently kicks Mysterio in his ribs,
before Mysterio gets out of the ring for a brief moment. Henry then chokes
Mysterio in the corner and Irish whips him into the ropes, executing a
shoulder tackle but misses. Mysterio ducks as Henry is sent out of the ring,
then gets on the top ropes and hits a Seated Senton as we go to commercials.

Back from the break, Henry is once again dominating the World Champion with
vicious blows. Mysterio tries to pick up momentum but is hit with a huge big
boot to the face. Henry pins Mysterio for only a 1 count, and shoulder
tackles him in the corner, before driving Mysterio all the way off the top
ropes with a devastating punch. Outside the ring, Henry lifted the Champ and
slammed his back into the ring apron, shades of what we saw him do to Chavo
last week. Eventually, Mysterio tries to sunset flip Henry but is
unsuccessful. Henry slams down, but misses as well only to be kicked in the
face. Mysterio counters a body slam into an amazing bulldog off the ring
aprong, but is knocked out of the air while going for a cross body. Mysterio
is then tossed into the referee, and Chavo comes out hitting Henry in the
back with the chair. But it has no effect as Henry shoves him down.
Mysterio sneaks in and hits the 619, but is caught in mid air while going
for another Seated Senton. But Chavo chop blocks the leg of Henry as he
falls, and tosses the chair on Henry for the ref to see, who disqualifies
    Henry and Mysterio wins this!

    Winner - Rey Mysterio

That's my review of this week folks. Again, if you have any comments,
suggestions, criticism, etc. My email is shoot_till_you_kill@hotmail.com

    Until next time.
