Thanks to Dominik Hauber for the report.
Hi there, first I'd like to thank you for the brilliant work. I've been following LoP for eight years now. Now as for the Smackdown-Revenge-Results from Stuttgart, Germany, here we go:
First Match: Tatanka d. Orlando Jordan OJ drew tremendous heat here. The match started off rather slow, but became better and better and ended in Tatanka's win, which was appreciated by the crowd.
Second Match: MNM d. The Hooligans Nothing extraordinary here, lots of posing and almost no highflying action. MNM won after using the ropes.
Third Match: Matt Hardy d. Road Warrior Animal Hardy was actually quite over and got the biggest pop until then. The match itself was quite short and Hardy won after the Twist of Fate.
Fourth Match: Funaki vs Nunzio (no contest) This was a good match until The Great Khali interfered, who destroyed the two Cruiserweights.
Fifth Match: Kristal d. Jillian Hall This was some eyecandy, the two look actually even better in real life. The wrestling was not too spectacular, but then again, more than I had expected. I remember the days when the WWE had an actual Women's Division...
Sixth Match: Gunner Scott d. Gregory Helms in a Non-Title-Match Somehow it wasn't clear that this was supposed to be a Non-Title-Match as I can't remember they said that before the match. Scott won after a rollup, but Helms still celebrated with the title afterwards. Nobody really cared about this match.
Seventh Match: Fit Finlay d. Paul Burchill Finlay drew some cheap (yet strong) heat by doing something reminding me strongly of the Hitler salute. He also delivered a short speech basically telling the German crowd to shut up. Burchill missed a moonsault and Finlay picked up the win with the Emerald Fusion.
Eighth Match: Chris Benoit d. Regal Benoit received an extreme pop. This was the match of the night in my opinion, good wrestling (but then again, what else would you expect from these two?). Benoit did a German Suplex combination and also a Dragon Suplex, while Regal applied the Regal Stretch on one occasion. Benoit missed the Diving Headbutt, but quickly applied the Crippler Crossface. Regal rolled through, but Benoit wouldn't let go and Regal submitted.
Main Event: Bobby Lashley, Rey Mysterio and Kurt Angle d. JBL, Booker T and Mark Henry Kennedy did a good job in introducing this match. JBL first dissed the German tax system and concluded that "We hate you." This drew "Asshole" chants, to which he reacted by saying "At least you recognize English is the language of the world." Afterwards, JBL sang "God bless America" to deafening boos. I personally found that quite...say, problematic, especially because there were also many Americans in the arena, but then again, you simply need the easy friend/foe-scheme in wrestling. And it did work. Rey Mysterio and Kurt Angle received incredible pops, while Lashley also was welcomed positively. Rey said that this match was for Eddie, to which (not for the first time that evening) "Eddie, Eddie"-chants started. The match itself was quite alright, except for some botched actions (for example, Rey tried a headscissor on Booker T, but it didn't work, and Booker - who appeared confused - kept turning two or three more times). In the end, JBL received a 619 and a Guerrero-style frogsplash from Rey, who picked up the pin and the win. After the match, JBL received a spear by Lashley, the Angle Slam and another 619. As the others left, Rey remained in the ring, having been handed an Eddie-sign, and pointed to the ceiling to enormous chants for Eddie Guerrero. Quite an emotional moment.
All in all, this was a good show in front of, I'd say, 8000 people, although many people were disappointed since they had awaited not only Batista but also the Undertaker, who the WWE had advertised.
Greetings from Germany,
Dominik
