WWE News: King of the Ring Velocity, Smackdown pre-emptions, more

- Due to the fact that both the Raw & Smackdown brands taped their TV shows at the combo "Supershow" on Monday, there were no matches taped for this week's edition of Velocity. Instead, they have decided to take a look back at some of the past winners of the King of the Ring tournament. Here is what you will see:
- The last few minutes of Bret "Hitman" Hart vs. Bam Bam Bigelow in the finals of the 1993 King of the Ring
- The last few minutes of "The Rocket" Owen Hart vs. Razor Ramon in the finals of the 1994 King of the Ring.
- The last few minutes of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. Jake "The Snake" Roberts in the finals of the 1996 King of the Ring, as well as his speech afterwards that launched the "Austin 3:16" phenomenon.
- Finally, you can view the last few minutes of the 1997 King of the Ring finals pitting Triple H vs. Mankind.
- Fans in Houston, TX were unable to watch Smackdown last night due to the fact that the UPN affiliate decided to pre-empt the show for the movie "Spawn". However, Houston fans can watch the show this afternoon at 1 p.m.
- Smackdown was also pre-empted in the NYC & some CT markets last night due to the Yankees/Orioles game. SD will air tonight at 8 p.m.
- For those of you wondering who were the local wrestlers who worked the Raw taping last night, wonder no more. The Big Show defeated Charlie Rage & UK Kid in a handicap match (I believe this is a Heat match), and Gene Snitsky & Goldust defeated Andy Simmons & Eric Schwarz.
All of the local workers have been regulars in the UK wrestling scene for quite some time, with Simmons being involved with 1PW, FWA, and All-Star as well. Schwarz has also had several tryouts with the WWE in the past.
