OVW returned to St.Therese Gym on April 9, for another hot show in
Louisville Kentucky. Ron Hed introduced himself and Timmy Baltimore as
the announcers of the evening. The two were ringside commentating
together with a stationary video camera, but it was unclear where it
would be broadcast.
Referees: Goose Mahoney & Ray Ramsee
(1) "Silverback" Ryan Reeves pinned "Erotic Erraticator" Platnum Pat
Buck with a powerbomb.
Buck pulled a banana from the front of his tights, and offered it to
Reeves, who swallowed the banana whole. I guess this was supposed to be
a thrill for Buck to watch. Despite accepting the token gift from Buck,
Reeves manhandled and made short work of Platnum Pat.
(2) The Highlanders beat Raul & Ramon Loco with a double reverse
slingshot suplex.
Once again the McAllisters came to the ring to the old Bushwacker's
theme, while the Locos came out to the old Cheech & Chong anthem,
"Lowrider". Mostly comedy, with The Highlanders picking and scratching
under their kilts, and making the Locos sniff their fingers.
Next, Beth Phoenix came to the ring to thank the OVW fans for supporting
her during her split from Idol & Shelly. However, in a heartbeat she put
a jacket on to cover her cleavage, and turned on her supporters in the
crowd. Beth said that if the fans wanted to see her body, they should
buy a photo of her from the souveneir table. As Phoenix continued to
insult the fans, Shelly came out and attacked her. A brawl erupted
between two future WWE Divas, where the two exchanged some loud chops.
Shelly rammed Beth into the wall and chased her out of the building.
(3) Elijah Burke beat Billy Kryptonite & Avatar in a handicap match.
Billy Kryptonite is the former Chad Toland/Dick. He is trying a new
gimmick where he comes out wearing a white Ric Flair style robe. The
masked Avatar was clearly not Al Snow, although he was introduced from
"Lima, Japan". Apparantly tonight's Avatar is one of Al Snow's students
in OVW. Kryptonite and Avatar spent a large portion of the match working
on Elijah's back, until Burke scored a quick pin on Avatar with the X
Factor.
(4) The Miz beat OVW Champion Brent Albright by DQ after a low-blow.
No official mention of Albright on Smackdown, although the fans were
loudly chanting "Gunner Scott". Originally this was announced as a
non-title match, but Albright said in the mic that he was feeling
generous enough to put his belt on the line. Albright did a tremendous
job working on Miz's arm in this match. Just as Brent clamped on his
Crowbar submission, C.M. Punk came to ringside, which distracted
Albright into releasing the hold. At this point, many fans were
believing they may see a title change, since Albright might be leaving
for Smackdown, and this was the same building the OVW Tag Titles changed
hands last month. With C.M. Punk cheering him on, Miz scored several
near-falls on Albright, until Albright hit a low-blow for the DQ to save
his title. Before the champion could escape, Punk hit the ring and left
Albright laying with his Anaconda Vise. As Punk and Miz left, the crowd
chanted "You got Punked!" at Albright.
During intermission, Elijah Burke came out to sign autographs. It is
clear that Elijah has a genuine love for the fans, who were smothering
him throughout the break. Timmy Baltimore plugged upcoming OVW shows.
This is a busy week for OVW. Last night was a show in Austin IN, tonight
at St. Therese, Wednesday TV tapings, Thursday Seymour IN, Friday
Corydon IN, and Saturday Hodgenville KY. Six shows in eight days! Not
too shabby.
(5) OVW Tag Champions Roadkill & Kasey James beat Mason Rage & Discord
when Roadkill hit Rage with a splash from the top.
The new champions are already extremely popular with the fans. Mason
Rage recently signed a WWE Developmental deal, and was sent to OVW.
Discord is a student at the OVW Training School, and kind of looks like
a black-haired Jeff Hardy.
(6) "Mr. Big Time" Aaron Stevens pinned Trailer Park Trash using Kenny
Bolin's briefcase.
Originally this was going to be Trailer Park Trash taking on Osama
Rodriguez Alejandro. However since his debut on this past week's Raw as
Armando Alejandro Estrada, he would not be appearing. Kenny Bolin came
out and announced that he was responsible for getting Osama to the WWE
along with countless others, since he is "The Starmaker". Bolin then
announced that he had a huge replacement, which was the former "Idol"
Aaron Stevens. Stevens made it clear that he is no longer "The Idol" or
"The Maja Raja", but "Mr. Big Time". Bolin distracted referee Ray
Ramsee, and Stevens nailed Trash in the head with Bolin's briefcase for
the pin.
Ron Hed and Timmy Baltimore hinted that Beth might be taking on Shelly
when OVW returns to St.Therese Gym on May 28.
