Match 1: Super Crazy vs. Vito
This should be a pretty good match. I'm a fan of both guys, as Super Crazy was one of the true highlights of ECW during it's heyday with some of his memorable matches with Tajiri & Little Guido (a.k.a. Nunzio). Most people wouldn't give Vito a chance, seeing how he really hasn't been pushed or his character flushed out by the WWE, but don't take this guy lightly. He is a former WCW Tag Team & Hardcore Champion, and has a victory in the record books over none other than the living legend Terry Funk.
Back and forth match to start, with Crazy getting the edge after two dropkicks send Vito to the floor, and Crazy follows that up with a slingshot plancha over the top rope. I must point out that Crazy was getting a nice "SUPER CRAZY!" chant going from the crowd. If I had to choose, I would figure Crazy would be the break-out star of the Mexicools and wouldn't be surprised to see a WWE cruiserweight title reign in his future. Crazy spent too much time with the fans, and as he was trying for a slingshot move, Vito hit him with a punch that knocked him off the apron, then followed that up with a stiff clothesline and a two count. A vertical suplex and a very nice "Macho Man" Randy Savage elbow follows, but only gets Vito a two count. Vito locks in a modified camel clutch to slow things down, and when Crazy started to fight out of it, Vito nailed him with a knee to the guy and a hair-pull to yank Crazy back down to the mat. Vito tried to connect with an elbow, but Crazy moved. Vito attempted a charge into the corner, but once again Crazy moved out of the way and Vito crashed right into the top turnbuckle. Crazy starts his comeback with a big back body drop and a reverse elbow, followed by a spinning heel kick. Another back body drop and a spinning sunset flip only gets two, and the same with another pin fall attempt. Crazy charges at the ropes, but Vito catches him with a power slam and pulls Crazy's body towards the corner. Vito attempts a double-springboard Vader Bomb, but Crazy moves out of the way and Vito hits nothing but canvas. With Vito staggering, Crazy went up top and connected with a missile dropkick, and followed that up with a standing moonsault to pick up the victory.
Winner: Super Crazy
No Way Out Recap: I don't recap recaps, so if you didn't waste your hard-earned money watching the PPV the first time, I'm not going to be bothered going over any of it now. Sorry folks, wait for the DVD if you're so interested in what happened.
Eddie Guerrero HOF video: You can find my thoughts on this in my Heat report. I will say that the WWE did a very good job on the video promo though.
Match 2: Sylvan vs. Shawn Patrick
Wow, I didn't even realize that Sylvan was still around. Sylvan gets on the mic, and despite the fact that he now has a male model gimmick, he basically still is stuck in La Resistance promo mode. A basic squash match here, though Patrick did get some hope spots near the closing moments of this match. The end comes when Patrick goes for a high cross body but Sylvan rolls through, hoists Patrick on his shoulders, and delivers a very well executed TKO to pick up the victory. Some people might mistake the move for an F5, but a TKO is basically a cross between the F5 and a Diamond Cutter. At least Sylvan finally has a finisher that is effective.
Winner: Sylvan
Divas Do New York DVD Promo: Yup, hot girls, big boobs, buy the DVD NOW!
Match 3: Tsuki vs. Mascarita Sagrada
Awww crap, not a Juniors match! God, what the hell was Vince thinking when he decided to bring midget wrestling back to WWE TV? Comedy match here, and to tell you the truth, I really didn't watch much of it. The end came when Sagrada got Tsuki with the Oklahoma Roll and picked up the win.
Winner: Mascarita Sagrada
Taker/Angle promo for this week's upcoming Smackdown: Hey, if it's free on TV, then I'll watch the rematch, but it's not like Taker is going to win. My bet is that whoever is going to be Taker's opponent for Wrestlemania will come out and cause him to lose, thus igniting their feud heading into WM 22.
Smackdown Recap: As I said with the NWO recap, I don't recap recaps and if you didn't catch the show the first time around, then tough shit.
Match 4: 6-Man Tag Team Match: Gymini & Simon Dean vs. Brian Kendrick, Paul London, and Funaki
Simon gets on the mic before the match and hypes up Gymini and his Simon System, but mostly I just cry for the man who used to be the innovative wrestler known as Nova because this fitness guru crap just doesn't fly. Standard big man vs. cruiserweight style match, with the team of London, Kendrick, and Funaki bringing the speed and the moves, while Gymini & Dean bring the power moves and the cheating. The end came when Kendrick attempted to go for Sliced Bread #2 on one of the Gymini but the other one caught him as he was flipping over and nailed him with an interesting version of a gut buster on the shoulder. I think A-Train used to use that move on occasion but he used the backbreaker variation. Either way, it was effective and enough for Gymini to pick up the win for their team.
Winners: Gymini & Simon Dean
Match of the Show: Crazy vs. Vito
Overall: Not that bad of a show. The only slow part was the Juniors match and most of the Sylvan match. Sylvan managed to score a few points with me by busting out a very nice TKO, but the two best matches on the show were Crazy/Vito and the 6-man tag match. Not bad for this week's edition of Velocity
