The Northern Star--Mosh
Submitted by Xan on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at 12:55 AM EST

This is a bit of a departure from my usual work--or anyone else's--but, I hope you'll find it enjoyable and enlightening. I was originally going to write something today involving what I see as a major downgrade in the quality of RAW since the move to USA with some suggestions on how to improve. You know, the kind of thing that I usually don't address here. However, after hearing that Joey Styles was becoming the announcer--at least temporarily--and knowing that Coach's feud was over and Austin wasn't going to be around for the McMahons to feud with, I figured the course would possibly right itself over the next few weeks. So, this week I am posting my COTM effort from March of this year. I honestly don't consider this a re-post, because to be perfectly honest, the person who put up the column really screwed it up the first time(and I did myself, then had to edit it this time, whoops). For some reason or another, he rearranged it into paragraph form, which if you read it, was obviously never the intent.

No artist likes to have his work messed with, especially when it makes the work all but unviewable. So, I decided to go ahead and post Mosh the way it was already meant to be, rather than someone else's poor re-interpretaton of it. I believe this column does a great job of standing on its own, but it's also a fantastic companion piece for my most recent work, "Are You Really", which is currently still up on the Main Page to be read. You can also simply click here. So, whether you read the initial posting of "Mosh" or not, I encourage you to give it a go the way it was written, but if you choose not to, at least take a look at the last section, as I'm trying to get yet another movement started 'round here. Now then, with all the explanations and small talk out of the way, I, Xan invite all of you to dance.

    "Mosh with me now"

I look around at this virtual word before us, thinking that there's so much more we could create.
Why the hell doesn't it totally floor us that instead of love for wrestling there's so much hate?
Aren't we all supposed to be fans, aren't we all supposed to enjoy the sport of kings?
But, no, instead we take it in our hands to dish out disrespect to those in the ring.
Well, I say if you've got nothing positive to shout, why do you bother typing at all?
I can understand having to let it out, when you feel like punching a wall
but not everything can be wrong, positive things happen, too, y'know.
Your list of grievances is so long; man, just let some of it go.

Let me give you an example of what I'm talking about my sisters and brothers,
I'm composing this little rhyme to show you how you've been hurtin' others.
After Triple H lost his title it seems that all of a sudden, everyone thought he was cool.
But, he's got the belt back, and all you hoodlums think he played you for a fool.
Why don't you take a step back and recognize what's happening for real?
That he's carried the company on his back and remuneration's part of the deal.
He's their biggest star whether you critics decide to like it or you don't.
You can blame luck or you can cry "politics", correct thinkers won't.

"Oh, Triple H has got to be calling the shots, look how many titles he's won!"
Why can't you people just connect the dots, and take a look at all he's done.
Back in 1999, he took upon the leadership mantle, and declared he was "The Game"
He did more than one man should handle, took both the praise and the blame.
And it couldn't have been easy for him, after the way he was done.
Austin would lay down for Mick, but not for "some no one".
Still Helmsley persevered, strived, and became one of the best ever.
He kept the wrestling fever alive, made Stone Cold regret saying "never".

Why can't you step up and respect, what this man has done for the biz?
Instead of getting up your neck, and hitting him with some dis?
So, he's married to the boss's princess, is that such a crime?
Yeah, he's now a kin of Vince's, and making lots of dime.
But, honestly tell me if you could get a chick that fine,
that you'd resist nailing her with your wood from front or behind.
He married into money and power, he's successful. You're jealous.
While you're lonely, your job's stressful, and you're trying to sell us
That Trips only talent is shoving folks back down the card,
Fuck, we ain't believing you, you's a joke with no regard.

"You scrutinize every word, memorize every line/I spit it once, refuel, re-energize, and rewind."

What's another fable that we keep hearing, what else you gonna say?
Oh, great Taker and Kane are ruling, it's Hoss independence day.
Man, why do you got to bring such thunder, when there's no lightning to back your play?
Like the organization's gonna go under, if you cynics don't get your special way.
Bradshaw can't hack it, Big Show is no good, Lesnar's the WWF's savior,
Benoit champ? No it never could, why don't you people do me a favor
Look at the evidence, let something play out, cuz we don't "know" before we know.
The IWC will never have any clout, while you're pissed off before the word go.

Why the hell you here, bringing us all down if you ain't feeling the love?
Don't be a jerk, not a motherfuckin' clown. Don't pull us to the mud.
You're making all of us who give a damn, look like a bunch of monkeys.
Fuck y'all negative fucks, I'm a wrestling fan, not a cowering flunkey.
I hear all the crap and decide to ignore it, cuz I think for myself.
Man, it must get really damned boring, being your negative self.
Eddie's past is checkered, he'll never get his due,
Well, for the record, it's now been proven to you.

Why don't you guys wake up and smell the shit that you're shoveling,
If it wasn't for these wrestlers you wouldn't have a forum to yell in.
I don't care if you bitch cause something really is wrong,
But you find something to complain about just to feel strong.
That ain't right, you know it, I'm willing to direct it.
You've been an asshole? Step up and correct it.
Be positive and constructive, give praise when it's needed.
Instead of letting your destructive nature get seeded.

It's time to stomp out the doom, time to let the fun show.
If all you can see is gloom, how can your love grow?
I know what you're puzzling, cuz I've been in the same place.
Yeah, that's right, Xan was in it, he stepped out of the race.
I don't want to be the critic on the block. Not ever again.
No, my opportunity's about to knock. I'm gonna step in.
You people--you need someone to show you the way.
Well, fuck it, I'm someone, and I've found the brighter day.

"All the people up top, on the side and the middle/Come together let's all form and stomp just a little."

What qualifies me to lead you? Maybe lead's the wrong word.
But, I'm certainly not going to allow myself to be deterred.
I want so much more from this Internet Wrestling Community.
Let's open a new door and let in some positive energy.
If you're not too jaded to change, if you can crack a smile.
If you're a little deranged, hell, we'll keep you around for awhile.
As long as you can keep an open mind, I don't care if you're crazy.
Hell, if you're gonna be kind, I want you even if you're lazy.

This is one movement that doesn't care if you're a slacker,
If you want improvement, if you're going to be a backer
Sit on your ass, look at the sky. Just think good thoughts.
In fact, get yourself high, as long as your hate rots.
Help me, folks, I beg, I plead. Wrestling gives us so much.
Be sated, feed your need. Give back to your crutch.
Help me lead the charge, help me rectify the damage.
Show the haters out there that you don't care about image.

If they insult you for being a "mark", explain to them the truth:
    They're the ones in the dark, and if they ask you for proof;
Tell them to open there hearts, their ears, their eyes.
This could be off the charts, the IWC could become paradise.
Who's with me? Who among you will show the courage?
Who will step up? I'm asking you? Who hates the mirage
That they've been led to assume? Who wants to shed
Their putrid, horribly ugly costume and let that part be dead.

Kill the darkness that's been bred; show reckless abandon
It won't destroy all your cred, if you let yourself be handsome.
I'm talking being a wrestling fan, hell even a fanatic.
You can't tell me that wouldn't feel fantastic.
We can turn this around, the mood of the room.
Joyous will be the sound when we destroy the gloom.
So, step in line, brothers, let your voices be heard,
If I have my druthers, you'll obey my word.

"Let me be the voice and your strength and your choice/Let me simplify the rhyme just to amplify the noise."

So, just listen and listen, and then do what I say
You'll be the pistons, powering our motor today.
This is going to be a battle, to take back our ground.
We're going to rattle this place, and turn it around.
You want to know how, don't you?
You can hardly wait to hear what we're gonna do.
Well, anticipate making this place into the biggest party you've seen,
Help get rid of the sickness, let your joy be seen.

The joy that moves and rocks a wrestling fan in this time.
Encourage them to just watch, relax and unwind.
Tell them how you feel in just watching the shows,
that your love is for real, that your heart goes
thumping in your chest, as the blood keeps pumpin'
without a moment of rest, your body's a jumping.
We'll keep at 'em, and at this till they understand
that you don't need to piss and moan to feel like a man.

We're gonna rock, we're gonna hum, we're gonna turn this
Joint into a happening club, you want to be negative?
Then have a reason, have a purpose, be constructive,
Not just because you feel cursed to be destructive.
If there's an injustice, you're damned right we're gonna
be incredibly pissed, and even I'm gonna wanna
Jump down their throats, display to them the error,
though I know the coats won't run and scream in terror.

It'd be nice if Vince and his merry band of company men
would hear providence, and bother to keep their ears open,
Who should they respond to? Let's not give them a choice.
If we're strong and successful, we'll have a unfied voice.
To say what we want to see, and what we think is drivel,
Because not everything reeks, and that's where we'll quibble
and stomp, and cheer, and dance, be merry and sloshed,
Are you ready for the chance? C'mon, follow me, let's mosh.

"Come along, follow me as I lead through the darkness/As I provide just enough spark that we need/to proceed carry on give the hope, give me strength come with me and I won't steer you wrong/put your faith and your trust as I guide us through the fog/to the light at the end of the tunnel we gon' fight/we gon' charge, we gon' stomp, we gon' march through the swamp, we gon' mosh through the marsh take us right through the doors, come on."

The words in teal are by Marshall Mathers, better known as Eminem. Everything else: words, sentiment, and tone are pure Xan. I hope it moves you.

    The Comment Box

Everybody's favorite regular, Benny Russ writes:

    G’day Xan,

I enjoyed the latest column as always. Spoilers are a funny old thing. This year I’ve been up to my eyeballs in work trying to get my thesis finished, and haven’t been watching every episode of Raw and Smackdown, so I’ve tended to read the spoilers, both to keep track of what’s going on, and so I know when to watch if something particularly interesting happens. However, last year when I was watching every single episode I steered well away from spoilers. Even to the point early last year, when Raw was being shown on Friday nights down here, I wouldn’t read LOP between Tuesdays and Saturdays. The year before that when we weren’t getting Smackdown down here I was reading the spoilers, but as soon as it came back I stopped. I like being surprised when good things happen, and I think this ties back into your previous column about how your expectations affect the way you watch something. I don’t mind knowing that such and may be getting a run at the title months before hand, because all that stuff is so variable anyways, but I don’t like knowing what’s already happened on a show I’m about to watch.

When it comes to TNA, I read the spoilers, as the only way to get TNA in Australia is buy the DVDs or download the matches. Either way takes time, and you want to know what’s going on, to know which to get. There are uses for spoilers, but generally only if you’re time limited, and can’t watch these shows all the time.

Sux that your over eager readers spoiled Rhino’s loss to Jarrett. I purposely didn’t email you until after the show so I could discuss it without spoiling the surprise. From what I’ve read the whole thing was handled okay, such that Rhino wasn’t made to look weak or anything. But knowing Jarrett was going to win would’ve spoiled it for me I’m sure. As I mentioned in my other email (sent just before the latest Star came out) I don’t have a problem with Jarrett getting the title back, as long as Raven gets to stomp the everliving begeezus out of him to win the title, but this, this was way too soon. Ah well, I’m still interested in TNA, just not as enthusiastic as I would have been.

    Keep up the good work,

    Later mate,

    Cheers and Beers

    Benny Russ

As far as the Jarrett/Rhino/Raven situation goes, it's certainly very interesting. Intellectually, you'd think that there's no way they'd blow off what's become a world title feud with a six-man tag, so Rhino vs. Jarrett would be the logical choice for the December PPV main event. However, with this whole Raven/Rhino/Jackie Gayda(or whoever the woman turns out to be) angle going on, maybe someone else will be converted to the top contender. I realize Monty and Hardy are having a match for that spot, but I think it's very inconsistent for Jarrett to be the only World Champ that gets rematches, y'know?

I don't think I could use spoilers in the manner you're describing, because unless it was something as compelling as the ECW turn back in 2001, I don't think seeing something after you know what happened can be as good as witnessing it first-hand. But, you're right, it does suck that some of my readers weren't as conscientious as you(though the worst offender did apologize for it), and it is interesting that somehow my topics tied together despite being completely different.

    As for your previous email:

I am very much with you on the cruiserweight title going away, I just think there is a small group of fans that would miss that style disappearing from Smackdown altogether. Personally, I think the WWF should scrap it and stick to what they're good at; because Smackdown's been very good lately even without the high-flyers.

The only time I ever liked Booker T was when he was part of Harlem Heat, so I'm not going to blame creative for his troubles.

    Take care, Ben.

    Xan

    Burt writes:

I could not agree with you more about spoilers. I would much rather not
see them. Why even watch the shows if you know exactly what is gonna
    happen?

I, like you, will read a spoiler only if I know that I will be unable to
watch that show. But usually, I just wait until AFTER the fact and read
the results for Smackdown or even Impact. Because usually I'll only read
the reports if I CAN'T watch the show for whatever reason.

(As a side note - I don't really watch much TNA and only look at their PPV
spoilers in general. If I'm around at 11:00 on a Saturday night I may
watch. I think they suck at the top of the card with Rhino, JJ, Raven,
etc. If they put Styles back at the very top of the card with Samoa Joe,
Chris Daniels, etc. for the title (not the X title) I'd watch more, but
with JJ or Rhino as champ they are a joke. Plus, I CAN'T STAND B.G.
James(The real JJ?), Konaan, and Kip James (Where is Chuck, Billy?)...)

As far as the WWE being able to make people withhold info until AFTER the
show airs, I think that is pretty much impossible. It would be great, but
like you said it ain't gonna happen. Much like the theory of communism,
it would work great in theory but it just is not possible.

As far as future spoilers/rumors are concerned, I will read those. Granted
you may know what is going to happen some of the time, but sometimes these
rumors are not always true (like you said). But I do agree, WWE should put
"fake" stuff out there so people like me may think one thing, but then they
    do something completely different.

In the old days stuff was so much better planned out, and a lack of
internet may partially be responsible. Back in 1987 right after Hogan beat
Andre at WM III, a storyline was planned out as soon as Macho Man turned
face shortly after WM III. It had to be. Everything made sense, from
Hogan aligning with Savage at first because of Liz or whatever, from Andre
and Ted "stealing" the belt from Hogan on Saturday Night's Main Event, from
Hogan and Andre getting double DQ's in their tourney match and Hogan
eventually helping Savage win the belt at WM IV, to the eventual
"Mega-Powers" collide and match at WM V. That is nearly 2 years of
    storyline that was basically predetermined.

Nowadays, you are lucky to get 2 months of predetermined stories. Things
are thrown together quickly without the buildup. Part of it is that they
simply don't know how to use certain talent, but I also think it is
partially because any blockbuster story they have planned somehow gets
leaked and it loses its luster when you know what is coming. So instead
of doing that, they simply don't plan out big long storylines...

Like you said, it is one thing to think or suspect something is going to
happen in wrestling, and it is another thing to actually know exactly what
is gonna happen. I love trying to guess who is going to win every match,
that is the fun part of it. I can guess some stuff even if I didn't hear
anything on the net. But not nearly as much. But when you know for sure
what is gonna happen it just isn't the same...

I don't know if you are into video games or not, but I"m pumped for this
new SD vs. RAW 2006 game for PS2. From what I'm hearing in on-line chats,
    it should be great...

Wow, great comments, and well said. I believe you're right about the 1987-1989 angle. I think they gambled that Macho would become as or nearly as popular as Hogan and build towards a big feud and even bigger title match between the two. The gamble worked, because both guys were mega-over by the climax.

While I've made my dislike of Jarrett well known over the last few months, I have to disagree with you on Rhino and Raven. I think both are very gifted superstars that never got a fair shake by the WWF. Hell, look how over Raven was in WCW before he was flushed in favor of Goldberg. While I think Styles and Daniels are immensely talented and belong in the heavyweight divisioin, the fact is that they help to keep the X-division the distinguished place that it is. The heavyweight scene is incredibly crowded right now, even if you remove Jarrett--which you should--and I just don't see how they'd stay there for long stretches at a time. Joe's a different animal. While I think he also helps elevate the X-division, as well as gives it some diversity, I believe he could very easily progress to the heavyweight division; in fact, if their short collision at Bound For Glory is any indication, a feud with Abyss is right around the corner.

I'm also very much looking forward to Smackdown vs. RAW 2006. I'm thinking about getting Day of Reckoning and Day of Reckoning 2 for the GameCube, too, after hearing how great they are.

    Happy playing!

    Dave had this to say:

    Hey Xan,

I agree with your proposal to only view spoilers if you know you are going to miss the show. Let me explain. I watched WWF and WCW for ~4 years from 1997 to 2001. This was the end of high school for me and the beginning of college. Then I moved to a place where we didn't have cable, so out goes Raw. I haven't seen more than one week of Raw in a row since then, because I haven't had basic cable since then. I've been watching Smackdown and catching some of the PPVs at bars, but very few. I did have the WWW the whole time, and started reading spoilers and results, and rumors, on LOP. Great site, but what I have found, is most of my friends don't give a crap about the rumors. They either want to watch and find out, or don't watch at all anymore. So while I still check out LOP, its more for news to back up what WWE feeds me. I use WWE website for all results of the shows I miss. That way, I still get to "view" the show as if I was watching it. However, I think people watch for two reasons, and only one group will agree with your proposal. Those are the ones that watch for the storylines. The ones that watch more for athleticism could give a crap less, and just want to see good wrestling. These are also the people that would like to know the rumors and the spoilers, because then they know if they should pay attention to the upcoming matches. I fall somewhere in between so its always a struggle to read the spoilers or not.

I also agree with your disinformation proposal, but I don't see how that would work. Here's what I mean. As it is now, "most" everyone in WWE knows what's going on. For our purposes, lets say the people in charge all have the same set of information. I think from the confirmation of so many rumors in the last few years, we can also assume this group contains the informants that are leaking information. The problem with disinformation is that now you have to feed certain information to certain people, because if the informants have both the "accurate" info and the "inaccurate" info, they will simply pass along the accurate. So that means that someone at the top has to decide that he/she is the last person that can be trusted with accurate information. Now when inaccurate info is passed, leaked, and then proven to be wrong by way of a taping or a title shot, the person that was fed inaccurate info will question the person that passed them info. Essentially, you will see more backstage politics, backstabbing, and untrusting than even happens now. It might weed out the moles, but more than likely it will cause major problems between people in power, which translates to problems for talent (the wrestlers) and the audience (us).

But if they can figure out a way to make it work.......

    Keep up the good work,
    Dave

You know, I didn't even think about people watching just for the athleticism. I suppose that's true in a way. After all, I've gone back and watched some matches, though, I've known who was just because people have told me how good they were. I still think that you're going to be let down, somewhat, no matter what if you know how a match finishes. My opinion is, like I mentioned with the Star Wars example, I think you're going to get a very diminished return.

God, you're logical. I didn't think of any of that, either. I suppose one way to do it would be to try to find some of the moles right away. Then, once you know who the moles are, you can offer them a choice: either lose their job or become a double agent. Vince would choose which "real" things would be released to the public, and then also have a few fake ideas sent out by the same person(s). They may never catch all the informants, but I think this would be a good way to use the ones they have to their/our advantage. After all, even if there's still a few out there sending out only "the truth", how are we going to know which is which?

Good points, Dave. Appreciate the feedback.

hey how ya doin, i just finished reading your colum about the iwc, i definantly agree that it has changed alot of fans opinions on the world of pro wrestling! im 22 yrs old and have been a huge fan of wrestling since i was about 5 or 6! i used to love greg "the hammer" valentine, hulk hogan and jake "the snake"roberts and all things ww(f)e, but now im just so over the whole stupid company, and have gone as far as to buy impact tapeings and ppvs on dvd off ebay (because we dont get it in aus) and i must say that alot of my new distaste for wwe has been because of the internet! im not blameing it at all, i love lop for the colums and backstage news, but reading about all the politics and stupid shit that goes on there really affects the way i view the company! an example is christian leaving! i was glad to see him go once i read how they tried to fuck him on his contract! he is one of the most talented performers on the roster (wrestling and mic skills), yet he has been shit on since he left the tag division with edge! and now im reading benoits contract is up in a few weeks and they have apparently offered him half of his current contract! he is one of the most gifted wrestlers the wwe has had in a long while and i seriously hopes he gives the wwe the big "fuck you" and jumps to tna (along with christian). i realise tna has bullshit to, but atleast they appear to be trying to give alot of previous wwe wasted talent a fair go! if i didnt read all this stuff online i prolly wouldnt have such a low opinion of wwe right now (altho i definantly would still have a problem with the product as a whole, as raw is broadcast in australia at 3pm in the afternoon and for the last few months i have been falling asleep half way thru it nearly every week because it just bores the shit out of me!) ive only been coming to lop for 3 or 4 years now, and i remember what wrestling was like for me b4 the internet. i remember being totally shocked in wm 17 (i think) when stone cold turned heel to join vinny mac, it surprised to hell out of me, i mean come on, its stone cold, the guy who had fueded with vince for the better part of the prior few years! but i dont feel that way anymore, because even if i dont read spoilers, other news that gets posted hints at things, and not alot is shocking anymore (in the last 3 or 4 yrs i was shocked twice! when hhh taped at wm to the cross face (i was 100% positive hhh was gonna win and drop the title at backlash)and the other time was when steph got involved in the alliance angle (i didnt think it would be possible to fuck up such a promising start, when ecw and wcw joined forces it was beautiful, then steph walked down the ramp and i literally groaned and rolled my eyes n though here we go again, wat a load of shit! but apart from those 2 times, common sence and the internet have pretty much drained most of the surprise out of pro wrestling! i dont think its such a bad thing, i just sumtimes feel really let down once i realise an internet rumour is coming true in front of my eyes (angle/hbk rumble).anyway, so sorry to send a long email, hope u get around to replying
    thanks for reading
    courtney a

I know exactly what you mean, Courtney. But, as I pointed out, I don't believe the future rumors are all that accurate. After all, how many of those rumors pointed to Batista winning the Rumble or facing Trips at Mania? None. The return of Matt Hardy to RAW was completely spoiler free, and it happened on the VERY DAY that his 90 day no-compete clause was up. What about Joey Styles appearing at Taboo Tuesday? Until the day of the event, nobody had a clue. BTW, I have to believe that you were at the very least surprised by Eric Bischoff being named the General Manager of RAW. No news circulated about that, and I think every single person watching that night was shocked out of their minds.

I think there are plenty of reasons to hate the direction of the WWF(especially RAW) without taking the backstage stuff into view. I mean Carlito going over Benjamin again? Honestly!!

I mean, I know that "Honestly!!" thing made me sound like a 75-year-old woman, but this whole slide of Shelton is ridiculous.

    Be well.

    Star Scream

Like many members of the IWC, I enjoy Impact!, but don't like the time slot it's been given, and I am also opposed to the recent rumors that Spike wants former WWFers pushed to the top of the TNA card, so I'm trying to do something about it. The following is a letter I plan on e-mailing to Spike TV. If you'd like me to add your name to it, e-mail me back by Saturday at midnight Central Time. Thank you.

    To Whom It May Concern:

First of all, I'd like to thank you. My name is Shane Sebunia, and I have been a fan of professional wrestling for going on 19 years now. As far as this sport goes, the WWF was my first love and chances are that the WWE will always remain somewhat prominent in the section of my heart that belongs to wrestling, but the truth is that Total Nonstop Action right now appears to be more capable of offering what I'm looking for. While storylines like the WWE offers are nice and complex and give us an emotional reason to buy into a match, TNA does a much better job--for the most part--of really delivering when the matches take place. They call themselves the new alternative in wrestling, and they certainly are that, so I thank you and congratulate you for bringing them to a national television network and at a better timeslot than what they'd achieved before on FSN.

However, I have to ask why they don't have even a better one. This Thursday they put on a fantastic show when they were given two hours and really proved they belong as part of your prime time line-up. I'm sure you'll look at the numbers to determine that and hope it drew better than the 0.8 it's been drawing in it's regular time-slot and much better than the 0.5 it's drawn during the replay. I am in no way suggesting that you put Impact! against RAW on Monday nights. I honestly don't believe they'd compete very strongly with RAW, as the casual fan still has not really been exposed to Total Nonstop Action. Hopefully this week's broadcast will help that. I'm sure there are still fans out there that still think of Smackdown as being a Thursday night show(I know it's still broadcast that night in Canada) and I know I, personally, still miss wrestling being on that night.

I think this would be a perfect time slot to keep Impact! in for awhile. Let it grow it's fan base, and your ratings and profits right along with it. I haven't missed an episode of Impact! yet, but I bet there are millions out there that can't say the same because they either aren't home on Saturday nights or haven't heard about it. Your slogan is "The First Network For Men", and you have to realize that lots of men--and especially the demographic that you're shooting for with professional wrestling--are out drinking and partying at 11 Eastern on Saturday Nights. During Thursday prime time? Not so much.

In addition to being a fan of wrestling, I am a columnist for Wrestlingheadlines.com/LordsofPain.net, a wrestling news and opinion site. Recently one of the news/rumor items on the site stated that your network had requested TNA to try to sign and feature as many former WWF/E stars as possible. I don't think this is wise. Unless TNA is able to use it's agreement with New Japan to bring Brock Lesnar in or they snatch up Dwayne Johnson(The Rock), who's contract with World Wrestling Entertainment expired nearly a year ago, there's just no way they can compete with the WWE in terms of star quality. Where they shine is in their ability to put on outstanding, athletic wrestling matches; something the leader in the industry puts far in the background most of the time in favor of over-the-top stories. If TNA is to rise up as a serious challenger to the WWE, and if you are to benefit from this rise, it won't be by pushing guys that were pushed out the door by the McMahons; it will be by developing their young talent(Monty Brown, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Abyss, America's Most Wanted),those that were never really given a chance by WWE(Ron Killings, Rhino, Charlie Haas, and Raven), and those who left the WWE of their own accord(Team 3D and the former Christian) and putting them center spotlight.

I hope you are open to these suggestions, because I think in the long run they would be best for all parties involved: Spike TV, Total Nonstop Action, and us fans.
