CWF MID-ATLANTIC PRESENTS THE 5th ANNUAL CWF RUMBLE ON OCTOBER 1st IN BURLINGTON, NC FOR HUGE TV TAPING!
CWF Mid-Atlantic returns to the Carolina Sports Arena in Burlington, NC this Saturday, October 1st, with a 7:30pm belltime. This is a full card of great action! This huge TV Taping will feature the 5th Annual CWF Rumble! All bouts are sanctioned by the AWA, the American Wrestling Association.
Wrestlers from all over North America have made their plans to enter the 30-Man Rumble... as 30 wrestlers enter, but only 1 survives!
Rumble Rules: a random drawing is held earlier in the day with each competitor drawing a number between 1 and 30, numbers 1 and 2 start with a new wrestler entering each minute thereafter. The only way you can be eliminated is to be thrown over the top rope and touching the floor with both feet. The sole survivor receives a title shot at any Mid-Atlantic championship of his choosing. Plus there is a special contest that fans can enter and win a prize from CWFShopZone.com open to the first 30 fans! (see related article for detailed preview of the Rumble)
As if that wasn't enough, another huge match scheduled for this Saturday night will feature AWA Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion Garry "Madd Trucker" Stevens defending his coveted title against the 2005 Johnny Weaver Cup tournament winner, "El Fuego" Jesse Ortega. Ortega elected to cash in the guaranteed heavyweight title shot that comes with winning the prestigious tournament this Saturday. Ortega is coming off one of the most successful title reigns in modern Mid- Atlantic wrestling history, having held on to the Mid-Atlantic Television Championship for 8 months and 9 days with 24 successful title defenses under his belt. Ortega has proven himself as championship material in the last 8 months but came up short in March when one of his only loses since January occurred in his first shot ever at the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Championship then held by Ric Converse. Ortega looks to avenge that loss and climb to the top of the mountain as Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion. The "Madd Trucker" is also looking to avenge a significant recent loss as it was Ortega who upset Stevens in the finals of the Weaver Cup Tournament to win just a little over a month ago.
Both men come into this important Mid-Atlantic Title match with something to prove. Ortega hopes to launch himself into the top spot in the entire territory while Stevens plans to keep that elite spot for himself.
Another championship will be on the line as new AWA Mid-Atlantic Television Champion, "A Very Handsome Man" Mitch Conner, makes his first title defense against a challenger from the random drawing of contenders. The cocky new champion from Milwaukee has been boastful to anyone who will listen in the last several weeks that this championship confirms his status as a "true television star" and that it doesn't matter who is drawn from the list of contenders, he will take the title back to Milwaukee for his planned vacation.
Connor commented about his trip back to Milwaukee, "I've already been told that there will be a ticker-tape parade for Milwaukee's best wrestler... me!" Connor has promised video footage of the conquoring hero's return to Wisconsin with the Mid-Atlantic TV Title belt. He'll have to make it through this Saturday if he hopes to enjoy that party.
Kid Justice will make another defense of the Rising Generation League Championship this Saturday night at the Carolina Sports Arena against the exciting Ultra Dragon. Justice is looking for momentum of a successful title defense heading into the annual RGL Tournament starting next month. The belt is not required to be defended but Justice has made several successful defenses since capturing the belt by winning the 2004 tournament. This will be the high-flying Dragon's first shot at the belt since his debut on January 8th of this year and both these exciting young athletes will undoubtedly put on a tremendous championship bout to add to the already stacked card for this Saturday's event.
All this and much more!
Don't you dare miss it!!!

THE 5TH ANNUAL CWF RUMBLE - THE PARTICIPANTS by CWF Commentator & resident stat expert, Grant Sawyer Mikael Yamaha: Will become one of only two wrestlers to compete in all 5 CWF Rumbles... Has wrestled 46:32 combined in his four previous Rumbles, including 29:01 in 2001 alone, the third longest ever... Has eliminated 7.5 wrestlers in his four Rumble appearances, the third highest total ever... Former Mid-Atlantic Television, Cruiserweight, and Tag Team champion... Has been granted the #30 spot by Michael McAllister out of "sympathy" for Yamaha's close-but-no-cigar attempts in previous Rumbles... Odds: 10-1 Ric Converse: Appearing in his 3rd CWF Rumble... Has eliminated 8.0 wrestlers in his three Rumble appearances, the highest total ever... Lasted 31:18 combined in his two Rumble appearances... Two-time former Mid- Atlantic Heavyweight champion... Coming off a grueling 40 minute classic with AWA World Hwt. Champion Steve Corino which he lost in controversial fashion... Is the #1 target for Michael McAllister's "hired guns" in the Rumble... Will have a bullseye on his chest no matter what number he draws... Odds: 10-1 Xsiris: Appearing in his 4th CWF Rumble... Has failed in recent attempts to win the AWA World Light Heavyweight Title and Mid-Atlantic Television Title... Needs a Rumble win to put himself back in the title picture... Former Mid-Atlantic Television Champion... Odds: 15- 1 Tank Lawson: Appearing in his 2nd CWF Rumble... Powerhouse seems primed and ready to make the Rumble his biggest match ever... Extremely dominant in recent singles bouts... Now under the management of Cornealius J. Lumpkin III... Odds: 15-1 Rob McBride: Appearing in his 4th CWF Rumble but first as the "Boogie Woogie Man"... Has eliminated 6.0 wrestlers in his four Rumble appearances, the fourth highest total ever... Strong, wily veteran could go a long ways in 2005's Rumble as he did in 2002 when he went nearly 23 minutes... Odds: 15-1 Brass Munkey: Appearing in his 4th CWF Rumble... Former Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champion... Is on an emotional high after scoring the biggest win of his life on September 10th, defeating Corey Edsel in a stretcher match, who has not been seen since... Odds: 20-1
Alex Adonis: Appearing in his 2nd CWF Rumble... Rumble seems custom-fitted for massive brawler who has no friends so should be right at home here... Odds: 20-1 Marcellus King: Making his CWF Rumble debut... Huge newcomer could make big waves in this year's Rumble... Dominated RGL Champion Kid Justice in singles action and defeated tag champions the Playas in tag action in his first two months alone... Odds: 20-1 Sean Powers: Appearing in his 2nd CWF Rumble... Former Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champion... Sick individual that seems to have some ties with Michael McAllister, utilizing the steel chain at the last TV taping in an effort to injure several other Rumble entries... Odds: 20-1 Street Sweepers (Gregory Vercetti and Jay Sinn): Only CWF team in the Rumble that have been vocal about working together and achieving the same goal... If their numbers are close together, a joint effort could spell trouble for the rest of the Rumble entries... Odds: 20-1 Mitch Connor: Current Mid-Atlantic Television Champion... On a hot streak, having ended Jesse Ortega's 9 month, 24-defense TV Title run at last TV taping... Doesn't need the Rumble, but cockiness has him wanting the win to prove his superiority over the rest of the Mid-Atlantic... Odds: 20-1 Kamakazi Kid: Appearing in his 3rd CWF Rumble... Former Rising Generation League champion... Beloved CWF wrestler who's career was nearly ended in January... has only wrestled once since then, losing in the AWA Light Heavyweight tournament... Unproven in 2005, but always extremely dangerous... Odds: 25-1 Donnie Dollar$: Making his CWF Rumble debut... Big man that should thrive in a Rumble setting... Needs a big showing and even bigger win... Possibly the biggest darkhorse in the Rumble... Odds: 25-1 American Steel Ninja: Appearing in his 4th CWF Rumble... Former Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champion... Needs a Rumble win to solidify himself as a top singles contender... Odds: 30-1 Will B. Smooth: Appearing in his 2nd CWF Rumble... Current Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champion... The "fighter" of the SouthSide Playas team... Rumble is the perfect environment for him to excel as a singles competitor... Odds: 30-1 Chris Vega and Bret Sharpe: Making their CWF Rumble debut... AWA West-Virginia's representatives in the Rumble hope for the luck of the draw much like the Street Sweepers in an effort to join forces for the win... Odds: 30-1 J-Money: Appearing in his 3rd CWF Rumble... Current Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champion and former Cruiserweight Champion... Proven singles competitor that excels even more in the tag team division... could have his sites set on a future trip back to singles glory if a Rumble win falls into place... Odds: 35-1 Kid Justice: Appearing in his 3rd CWF Rumble... Current Rising Generation League Champion... Solid singles star that went to the final 5 in last year's Rumble... Could move up to the next plateau with a win here... Odds: 35-1 Julius Augustus: Making his CWF Rumble debut... Has been on fire in the tag team division as of late and the Rumble will be his first chance to stake his claim as a true singles star... Odds: 35-1 GeeStar: Will become one of only two wrestlers to compete in all 5 CWF Rumbles... Has eliminated 6.0 wrestlers in her four Rumble appearances, the fourth highest total ever... Former Mid-Atlantic Television Champion... Slowed by injuries and the emotional death of the Crew in 2005, needs the Rumble to recapture her past glory... Odds: 40-1 Shane West: Making his CWF Rumble debut... Veteran wrestler surprisingly has never been in a Rumble... Has been AWOL since realigning himself with Garry Stevens... Could be the hired "hitman" for the Rumble... Odds: 45-1 Shawn Christian: Making his CWF Rumble debut... Veteran athlete out of Virginia will be making his first CWF event since March... Unknown quantity in NC, but a widespread reputation in VA... Odds: 50-1 Ultra Dragon: Making his CWF Rumble debut... One of the most popular, but also smallest, Rumble competitors... Will have to utilize speed and agility and pray that luck of the draw doesn't put him in there with many 300 pounders... Odds: 50-1 Jeremy Ryan: Making his CWF Rumble debut... CWF's luckiest competitor possibly ever will need every bit of it to try and survive... Parades are already scheduled in his hometown should the impossible happen... Odds: 100-1
Matty Dee: Making his CWF Rumble debut... With "Classic Rock" apparently disbanded, Matty Dee is a wrestler without a home, or a friend, as the case may be... took Mikael Yamaha to the limit at the last TV taping... has never won a singles bout in CWF... Odds: 100-1 CWF and the AWA will also announce three additional wildcard entries to round out the field of 30 on Saturday, October 1st shortly before the event.
