For those wondering why Paul London hasn't been on WWE television lately, he's been at home recovering for several weeks with a family illness, with WWE management giving him their blessing to take some time off and handle the situation.
Several wrestlers have also indicated that WWE management feel the time off will help change London's negative attitude toward them.
Vince McMahon recently told Cruiserweights they had to tone down their style, and London was said to be most vocal about the change. He was especially upset that his two trademark maneuvers, the 450 splash and the shooting start press were put on the shelf.
Road agents informed London at the Rochester SmackDown! taping several weeks back that he would have to find a new finisher, and according to several wrestlers, London went directly to McMahon and gave a plea to Vince to leave things how they were because they needed their high-risk style to try and draw as much as the big muscular performers.
London didn't get the reaction he wanted with McMahon having him drop the Cruiserweight belt to Nunzio on Velocity a week later. The former champion also teased a future heel turn with his whiny interviews. His impassioned plea to Vince obviously did nothing for his standing.
