BREAKING NEWS - Joy Giovanni Released

Former WWE Smackdown! diva Joy Giovanni's name has been added to the long list of casualties/firings/releases at WWE.com.

Joy Giovanni was a part of the original Raw Diva Search and was the second-to-last female to be eliminated, behind Carmella Decesare. WWE saw something in her at the time and decided to sign her to a contract along with a few of the other Diva Search contestants who didn't win. Joy was brought in at around the time WWE had another firing spree back in November to make room for new people. This time around, Joy now knows the feeling of being cut loose in favor of newer faces.

What with the second installment of the Raw Diva Search, that's going to make a lot of WWE females expendable unless they're really, really popular like in the case of Trish Stratus or Christy Hemme. Joy wasn't in the top-tier of WWE Divas and so thus she was dubbed expendable.

Joy's WWE highlight was when she won the Rookie Diva Contest at WWE No Way Out 2005 back in February. She aligned with Big Show as a girlfriend of sorts but disappeared from WWE programming soon after. She made a few TV appearances here and there, but hasn't been seen on Smackdown! for the most part.

She's recently made some appearances on a video game TV program, so fans with a hankering for some Joy Giovanni can probably catch her there.
