CWF MID-ATLANTIC ACTION THIS FRIDAY & SATURDAY IN BURLINGTON, NC
CWF Mid-Atlantic returns to the Carolina Sports Arena in Burlington,
NC this Friday & Saturday, June 24th & 25th, for a special weekend
of wrestling action! June 24th is the special international DVD
taping for "Friday Night Fights" with a 8:30pm belltime. Saturday
night is a huge TV Taping with a full card of great action and a
7:30pm belltime! All bouts are sanctioned by the AWA, the American
Wrestling Association.
FRIDAY NIGHT
The Summer Action Series continues with possibly the most
anticipated championship bout of the summer as AWA Mid-Atlantic
Heavyweight Champion "Slick Diddy" puts the title on the line
against number one contender, Garry "Madd Trucker" Stevens! This
feud has been brewing for months as Stevens has proved he will go to
any lengths to capture the coveted championship. Converse says he
is 100% ready to send the Madd Trucker off his highway of
destruction and into the parking lot full of defeated challengers.
The biggest question is whether Converse is truly recovered from the
injuries inflicted by Stevens nearly three months ago. The champion
went against his doctor's recommendation to relinquish the title and
have surgery that would have put him out of wrestling for at least
eight months... perhaps forever! Stevens has been fully aware of
Converse's weakness even going so far to target the injured area at
the contract signing!
Last week in Pfafftown the Madd Trucker scored a pinfall victory
over Converse in a six-man after dropping the champion on his neck
with a vicious jackknife powerbomb. This Friday the most
prestigious championship in the on the line at "Friday Night Fights"
as Ric Converse attempts to beat the odds and turn back the
challenge of the Madd Trucker!
Also on Friday night a card filled with great bouts includes a
special tag team grudge match as Brass Munkey & Rob "The Boogie
Woogie Man" McBride take on "Dangerous E" Corey Edsel & Mikael
Yamaha with their manager Brad Stutts. It's been nothing short of a
war between Brass Munkey and Corey Edsel! At "Friday Night Fights"
the war will only heat up in this wild tag team brawl!
Xsiris has been stating he is working his way back up the ladder.
With a victory last week in Pfafftown over Kid Justice, he has done
just that, earning a shot at the AWA Mid-Atlantic Television Title
held by Jesse Ortega. Xsiris is a former TV Champion and plans on
making "Friday Night Fights" his return to the top! However
Ortega's span as TV Champion has quietly written his name into the
record books with 14 successful defenses since capturing the
championship in January. He has fought all challengers and turned
them all away. Can Xsiris be the one to snap the streak or will
Jesse Ortega prove that he's still "El Fuego!"
You'll also see The Street Sweepers (Jay Sinn & Gregory Vercetti)
challenge the AWA Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions, The $outh$ide
Playas (J-Money & Will B. Smooth) in non-title action. Plus the
death defying Ultra Dragon squares off against "A Very Handsome Man"
Mitch Connor!

SATURDAY NIGHT
CWF Mid-Atlantic returns the following night to the Carolina Sports
Arena for a HUGE TV Taping beginning at 7:30pm! Fresh off
the "Friday Night Fights" special event, they'll be tons of action
and possibly new champions to debut on television. One things for
sure, this will be a "can't miss" TV taping full of surprises!!!
The 2nd Annual Johnny Weaver Cup Tournament kicks off at the TV
Taping and runs throughout the summer. The finals are slated for
the end of August where Johnny Weaver will present the trophy cup to
the winner! Last year's tournament had some of the best matches of
the summer. This year will be no different! Johnny Weaver
announced last weekend his first four entrants to the tournament
which were last year's runner-up Ric Converse, along with Rob
McBride, Jesse Ortega, and Brass Munkey. Four more selections will
be announced on Saturday in the 16-man tournament and the action
will begin!
All this and much, much more!
