CWF MID-ATLANTIC LIVE ACTION THIS SATURDAY IN WENTWORTH, NC - HUGE BENEFIT EVENT FOR ROCKINGHAM COUNTY SPECIAL OLYMPICS!
CWF Mid-Atlantic returns to the Wentworth National Guard Armory in Wentworth, NC this Saturday, April 30th, with a 7:30pm belltime. This is a full card of great action to raise much needed funds for the Rockingham County Special Olympics! All bouts are sanctioned by the AWA, the American Wrestling Association.
The event is already looking to follow in the footsteps of it's now legendary predecessor, "Explosive Elements," which raised thousands for the Rockingham County Special Olympics back on August 9, 2003 in addition as being chosen as 2003's "Event of the Year" by IndyInsiders.com. There are five key elements that will be the focus this coming Saturday as several of the Mid-Atlantic's brightest stars will face the biggest obstacles in their career.
Unity. Two men united by environment. Two men united by a common goal. Four men on a collision course in which none can afford to be the loser. The AWA Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions, The $outh$ide Playas (J-Money and Will B. Smooth) will face, without question, the largest challenge of their title reign when they take on Sean Powers and Garry "Madd Trucker" Stevens. Garry Stevens, the #1 contender to the heavyweight crown, has been unable to procure that particular matchup due to the current health status of champion Ric Converse. Sean Powers, the former tag team champion and a man without a partner, has opened his arms to the "Madd Trucker" and invited him to be by his side in his quest to reclaim the gold. Left without a title bout, the maniacal Stevens has accepted Powers' invitation as the two form what is being referred to as the most twisted alliance in CWF history. It will be up to the Playas to not only fight for themselves, but for the entire company, as they attempt to turn back the challenge of two mad men who's goal is to not only leave Wentworth with the gold, but continue their dominant rampage through the entire Mid-Atlantic area.
Reality. It could very well be the darkest reality come to life for one man in Wentworth. AWA Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion "Slick Diddy" Ric Converse has been out of action since the brutal attack at the hands of Garry "Madd Trucker" Stevens on March 26th. At the last TV taping, Converse revealed that his initial doctor's visit not only confirmed the obvious damaged ribs, but X-rays also showed an irregularity near the top of his spinal cord nearing his neck. Converse will be having his second fateful doctor's examination this coming Friday in Tarboro. Fearing the worst but praying for the best, Ric Converse has vowed to be in Wentworth and publicly announce the fate of not only the AWA Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title but also his own career as well.
Intensity. The National Guard Armory in Wentworth could very well play host to the most emotionally intense match in CWF history. A far cry from one of their greatest days at the 2003 Wentworth event, the faction known as "The Crew" could quite possibly have it's last rights administered this Saturday when Brass Munkey teams with GeeStar, as they square off against former "Crew-mate", "Dangerous E" Corey Edsel and his childhood friend, now recently realigned manager, Brad Stutts. At the last TV taping, Munkey issued an apology to the fans for "the man he's being forced to become in order to face Corey". Unable to compete since blowing her knee out last December in a match with Corey's then-adversary Garry Stevens, GeeStar has stated that she's willing to risk her career to come back for this one match in hopes of finding the human being she once knew somewhere inside the body of Corey Edsel. But with Brad Stutts now guiding the mind of "Dangerous E", very few expect any form of reconciliation in Wentworth but rather a very dark, evil battle that will be as heartbreaking as it will be brutal, with one team set on a path of crippling rage and the other team searching for both answers and revenge.
Karma. After a year of deplorable actions from backstabbing his friends to maiming his fellow wrestlers, karma may indeed have finally caught up to Mikael Yamaha, in the form of the American Steel Ninja. After scoring a win over Ninja back in March thanks to the use of a pair of brass knuckles, Yamaha turned his focus towards his oldest rival, Gemini Kid. Rather than protest the loss, Ninja sat back and watched, picking the exact moment he would interject his own brand of karma on Yamaha. In the Brass Knuckles on a Pole Match on April 2nd, he did just that, thwarting Yamaha's cheating and assisting Gemini onto victory. An incensed Yamaha demanded a match with Ninja at the last TV taping, a challenge that was answered instead by young Jeremy Ryan instead. Yamaha dominated the rookie but once again, well-timed intervention by the American Steel Ninja not only cost Yamaha a match, but handed him one of the most humiliating losses in his 13-year career. With a now completely enraged Mikael Yamaha and a very calm and calculating American Steel Ninja, the mind games between the two will come to a head this Saturday in Wentworth when they finally meet one-on-one!
Confidence. Much like any athletic driven competition, every competitor will ride a crest of highs and lows throughout their professional career. Even at the lowest of lows, athletes cannot let the struggles of the present shatter their inner confidence. The great ones find it within themselves and ascend to even greater heights than before. The ones that don't fade away, with their memory often just a footnote buried at the bottom of a record book. Therein lies the crossroads of AWA Mid-Atlantic Television Champion Jesse Ortega, who has found himself desperately searching for a win, having gone without in both of his last two title defenses, as well as an upset tag team pinfall loss to relative newcomer Keenan Quinn at the last TV taping. With the TV Title contender always being determined via a random drawing, many Mid-Atlantic wrestlers are crossing their fingers in hopes of being chosen as Ortega's challenger this Saturday night. If Ortega is truly on shaky ground, as many of his doubters claim, it could indeed be the crowning of a new champion in Wentworth. On the flip side, Jesse Ortega could very well step up to the challenge and instead stake his claim as one of the greatest modern day Mid-Atlantic TV Champions.
Many questions to be answered. Many battles to be fought. All of which will occur this Saturday night at the National Guard Armory in Wentworth. In addition, also appearing live will be the incredible Ultra Dragon, the "Boogie Woogie Man" Rob McBride, Team Adonis, and Classic Rock ("Classic" Chris Collins and "Rock 'n' Roll" Matty Dee), and many more!
Don't you dare miss it!!!

AWA Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion Ric Converse invited Commissioner William L. Cross and the CWF Championship Wrestling TV cameras into his home for this special interview. Converse provides new details on the injuies he received at the hands of Garry "Madd Trucker" Stevens. Commissioner Cross also provides some very important information about the status of Converse's AWA Mid- Atlantic Heavyweight Title.
Manager Brad Stutts took the opportunity to confront "Team Corino" member, Ricky Landel, after his victory in Burlington, NC. Stutts has no problem shooting off his mouth as long as "Dangerous E" Corey Edsel has his back. This exclusive video caught Stutts as he stopped Landel on the way out the door from his CWF Mid-Atlantic debut. Landel was already late on his schedule to travel back to join Steve Corino back in the northeast. Stutts, exploited the situation and his comments are sure to cause a wave of repercussions from the AWA's #1 heavyweight contender, Steve Corino, as well as the reigning AWA World Heavyweight Champion, Takao Omori.
