The North Carolina High School Athletic Association has fined South Mecklenburg and Providence $1000 each for a fight involving wrestlers from the two schools at a February event.

Reportedly, S. Mecklenburg's Colby Hardin defeated Providence's Reid Fliehr, son of Ric Flair. After winning, Hardin mocked the professional wrestler by celebrating with Flair's signature strut, causing Fliehr to charge at the winner. The fight did not escalate to a significant extent as wrestlers from both sides rushed to break it up.

"It was started and finished in a matter of seconds," said Tom Harper, athletics director at Alexander Central High. " ... It was bad for wrestling, but it was taken care of immediately and I felt like it was handled in a very classy and organized way."
