WWE SmackDown! Results - April 21, 2005

We open the show with JBL coming out in his limo. Cole and Tazz tell us that tonight the WWE Champion John Cena will be facing US Champion and JBLs Chief of Staff Orlando Jordan. JBL joins Cole and Tazz at commentary, and he still has the old WWE title.

MATCH 1: The Big Show vs. Booker T in the WWE Championship series. Winner of this match faces Kurt Angle and JBL in a Triple Threat Match next week to determine the Number One Contender for the WWE title. Booker has his lovely wife Sharmell at ringside. After Show and Book get to the ring Kurt Angle comes out and joins Cole, Tazz, and JBL at commentary. JBL is not happy. Kurt gives Sharmell a dirty look as he heads to the table. Kurt rolls his eyes at JBLs yelling about Kurt being there. Very funny look. Show uses his power and size advantage early on, but Booker uses a series of kicks to Shows knees to bring him down. Booker gets Show in the corner and hits Show with punches and chops. As Show and Book wrestle Kurt and JBL talk about what would happen if neither man won this match. Show sets up for the Chokeslam, but Book fights out with chops and punches, but runs right into a nice side kick from Show. Show tries to hit Book with a running boot, but Book ducks it and Show crotches himself on the top rope. When Show gets off he walks right into the Bookend from Book. Only a 2 count. Book climbs to the top and hits a missile dropkick for a near fall. Book hits an Enzugiri, then he knocks Show over the top rope and falls out with him. Kurt and JBL get up and attack Book and Show. The ref calls for the bell, and the match is declared a no contest.

WINNER: NO CONTEST

JBL and Kurt seem happy about next weeks match being one on one, but Show and Book get up and show their displeasure. After a brief brawl Angle and JBL run up the ramp, but the GM Teddy Long heads out to make an announcement. Teddy says that because of what just happened he will be forced to change the match next week. So next weeks Triple Threat will now become a Fatal Four Way with JBL vs. Kurt vs. Booker T vs. Big Show. Teddy also says that Angle and JBL will face Show and Booker in a tag match.

It's time for my new favorite segment, Carlitos Cabana! Carlito gets a nice sized chant from the crowd to begin, so he talks trash about New York to get some heel heat. Carlito gets them right in the palm of his hand. Carlito gives them a lesson, Coolness 101. He talks about how the children of New York will never grow up to be cool. Carlito says New Yorkers are famous for losing their cool. Carlito says his guest tonight also needs to play it cool, as he is the opposite of it. Latino Heat, Eddie Guerrero heads out without the low rider. Carlito reminds Eddie about what happened to Rey on the Cabana last week, and asks Eddie where he was. Eddie says Carlito is just trying to stir up trouble, but Carlito denies this, and reminds Eddie that Rey cost Eddie the match with Kurt last week. Carlito calls for a clip of this, then tells Eddie that was not... LOUD SPANISH! Eddie yells that if Carlito says cool one more time he will rip off his head and shove it his ass! Eddie grabs an apple and takes a bite, and says he wants to talk to Rey about what happened. Rey comes out, Eddie reminds us that last year he was in MSG with the WWE title. Eddie says that his need for the WWE title has clouded his vision, and made him selfish. Eddie tells Rey again that he had car trouble last week, and thats why he was not there to help Rey last week. Eddie says that Rey is family, and wants to shake Reys hand. Rey is conflicted, but he shakes Eddies hand and they hug. Just then MNM appears on the tron and makes fun of the special moment. Melina says that MNM wants a title match tonight! Eddie says that if they want to challenge them, then they need to do it face to face. Mercury says they are more comfortable in the back, and they camera pans out to show them with Eddies lowrider. They pull out some spray paint and paint MNM on the hood of the car. Eddie and Rey runs up the ramp as we go to commercial.

Eddie and Rey get to the lowrider, and Eddie is pissed. Eddie and Rey want to get at MNM, so they decide to give them their title match.

Steve Romero is backstage with Matt Morgan, and talks about how big he is. Steve asks Matt is he is nervous about being in MSG. Matt says he is not nervous, but he stutters. Matt says with another stutter that tonight he will make his impact. He stutters again as he says that MSG has never seen anything like Matt Morgan, and tonight they will remember his name.

In the locker room the Bashams are talking, when OJ comes in yelling. OJ reminds him that he is their boss, and says if they do not shape up they will be cut. OJ tells the Bashams to soften up Cena for him. After OJ leaves Danny says he is getting sick of all this.

MATCH 2: Matt Morgan vs. some Jobber that looks like Zach Gowen. Matt stutters as he asks the Jobber if he is laughing at him, then throws the Jobber around and finishes him off with a Vertical Suplex into a Rock Bottom.

WINNER: MATT MORGAN

Backstage JBL and Kurt are arguing about whose fault this match is.

They show a commercial for John Cenas CD. I must have it. Hey, if I bought Macho Mans then I have to buy this one right?

MATCH 3: JBL and Kurt Angle vs. Big Show and Booker T. JBL still has the old title. JBL and Book start us out, but Show wants in so Book tags him in. Show throws JBl around, and hits a hug chop in the corner. Show hits a vertical suplex on JBL, followed by stomps, then another huge corner chop. JBL fights back with chops of his own, but runs into a big boot from Show. Show runs into a boot too, then JBL goes for a cross body off the top rope. Show catches him, and hits a fall away slam and JBL rolls right out of the ring after landing. Book throws JBL back into the ring, who makes it to Angle and tags him in. Angle goes right for Shows leg, but Show tosses him away. Angle gets a headlock on Show lifts him up, tosses him in the corner and hits another hug chop. Show drags Angle to his corner and tags in Book. Book stomps Angle, but Angle fights up and gets a headlock on Book. Book throws him off, and Angle runs into a hip toss. JBL runs in, but right into a kick from Book. Angle is up, and he hits a german suplex on Book. Angle goes for another, but Book blocks it, and ducks a kick from JBL so Angle is hit right in the face. Book chops JBL and tries to whip him, but JBL reverses and whips Book into the ropes, Angle pulls them down and Book goes out of the ring. Show goes after Angle, while JBL throws Book into the steps. Show goes after JBL now, but Angle tosses Book back into the ring and hits a suplex for a near fall. Angle tags in JBL, who hits Book with punches and a swinging neckbreaker for a near fall. JBL tags back in Angle, who works Book over with uppercuts and a backbreaker for a near fall. Angle locks in a scissor hold on Book. Book fights his way out, but Angle takes Book back down with a knee to the midsection, near fall. Angle goes for the Angle Slam. Book counters and goes for the scissors kick. Misses, and Angle tags in JBL, they double team Book and gets a near fall after the ref sees JBL using the ropes. JBL goes for a powerbomb, but Book body drops him over. JBL knocks Book back down, and hits a series of elbows for a near fall. JBL tags back in Angle, who hits an overhead belly to belly suplex. Angle locks in the scissors hold again, but Book fights out and hits Angle with a huge DDT. Both men tag their partners, and Show cleans house! Show takes out both JBL and Angle, then tries to chokeslam JBL, but Angle Angle slams Show. Book kicks Angle in the jaw, but JBL takes down Book with a big boot. JBL goes for the clothesline from hell, but Show catches him in the chokeslam position. JBL calls for help, but Angle walks off as Show and Book hits JBL with a scissors kick then chokeslam for the win.

WINNERS: BOOKER T and BIG SHOW

Heidenreich comes out to read us another poem. HR tells the crowd that he has made some friends in New York, and he wants to introduce him to us. HR calls out the Brooklyn Brawler. Brawler comes out and shakes HRs hand. HR reads a poem he wrote about the Brawler. HRs poem has a MSG cheap pop. Brawler tells HR that his poem sucked, and says the only thing worse was when the Yankees lost to the Sox last year. Brawler says he is embarrassed by New York, and he is now the Boston Brawler! HR is not happy and beats him up, and hits him with a spinning side effect.

MATCH 4: MNM vs. Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio for the WWE Tag Team Championships. MNM comes out with the red carpet and paparazzi. Melina looks so hot. Melina makes her HOT ring entrance and my night is complete. Eddie and Rey comes out in the defaced lowrider. Eddie and Rey get in the ring, and MNM ducks out. Eddie catches Nitro, and throws him in the ring. Eddie pounds on Nitro, and hits a back body drop. Nitro ducks out of the ring again, and Mercury comes in, right into an atomic drop from Eddie, then Rey hurricaranas him out of the ring. Eddie and Rey stand in the ring as we go to commercial.

Back from commercial Eddie and Rey are in control over Nitro. Rey hits a dropkick for a near fall. Rey snapmares Nitro, and Eddie hits a slingshot senton for a near fall. Eddie with a side suplex for another near fall. Nitro gets the tag to Mercury, who whips Eddie into the corners and hits chops and a clothesline. Eddie fights back with a dropkick. Eddie whips Mercury into the corner and runs at him, Mercury elevates Eddie over the rope onto the apron. Eddie hits Mercury with a shoulder block to the gut, then punches Nitro who tried to attack him. Mercury then runs at Eddie and knocks him off the apron. Nitro throws Eddie back in the ring, and Nitro and Mercury double team Eddie, getting several near falls. Mercury locks in an armbar on Eddie. Eddie fights up, elbows Mercury in the gut, but runs into a knee from Mercury who gets a near fall. Mercury locks in an abdominal stretch, Eddie fights out and hits a tilt a whirl backbreaker. Eddie tags in Rey who comes in on fire, and hits a springboard moonsault on Mercury for a near fall. Rey hits a springboard seated senton then a low dropkick for another near fall. Nitro breaks this one up, and Nitro picks up Rey and drops him on Mercurys knee. Eddie breaks up the pin, and hits the Three Amigos on Mercury, and Rey leaps off Eddies hands to kick Mercury into position for the 619. Melina jumps on the apron and covers Mercury so Rey wont do the 619, Eddie chases her off and away from the ring. With the ref distracted MNM hit the elevated DDT for the win!

WINNERS: MNM for the WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS!

MNM leave victorious as Eddie and Rey argue in the ring. Eddie pushes Rey down, and walks off. Rey chases him, and they argue out of the ring. Rey shoves Eddie down, and walks off.

MNM is in front of their limo posing for the paparazzi, and Melina is talking to someone named Paris about the victory. Melina tells her to get Keanu and Christina to come to NYC so they can party.

MATCH 5: WWE Champion John Cena vs. US Champion Orlando Jordan. Cena comes out to a huge ovation from the New York crowd. Cena gets on the mike and says that is the sound of NEW YORK! Cena talks about the tradition of New York, and says NY is special. Cena says that tonight there is gonna be a fight! Cena tells OJ to listen to the sound of the NY chain gang! And if you want some, COME GET SOME! OJ comes out with Doug Basham, no Danny in sight. Cena is in control, with a shoulder block and punches. OJ stops Cenas momentum with a kick, then punches. Cena comes back with his own, then knocks Doug Basham off the apron. OJ uses this to hit a DDT. OJ slams Cenas head into the turnbuckle, then punches, and a clothesline for a near fall. Cena fights back with a bulldog, inverted atomic drop, body slam, and elbow drop for a near fall. Cena whips OJ, back body drop, and goes for OJ who pulls Cena out of the ring where Doug Basham drives Cena into the ring post and tosses him back in the ring. OJ punches Cena, then poses for the crowd. OJ hits a side slam for a near fall, then locks on a back bear hug. Cena fights out, comes at OJ with punches, then a series of clotheslines. Cena hits a jumping hip toss, then the Proto Bomb. Cena pumps it up, and punches Doug Basham off the apron again. Cena hits the 5 Knuckle Shuffle, then catches Doug Basham coming off the top rope and hits him with the FU! Cena then catches OJ about to come off the top and crotches him on the top. Cena sets up for a superplex, but Danny Basham comes out of nowhere and hits Cena in the head with the US belt. Cena falls to the mat and OJ hits an elbow drop off the top, but Cena kicks out! OJ covers again, another kick out! Cena fights up, whips OJ into Danny Basham on the apron, and hits the FU on OJ for the win!

WINNER: WWE CHAMPION JOHN CENA

A lot of people have been dogging SmackDown recently, but they are doing great in my opinion. A great champ, lots of challengers, a great new tag team, a great feud building between Eddie and Rey. Lots of good stuff going on. Lets hope they can get some guys like Jericho, Christian, and Shawn to add even more. Christian or a heel Jericho would be great challengers to Cena.
