Elite Championship Wrestling "Anarchy In April 2005" - April 16th, 2005 The Houston County Farm Center in Dothan, AL Greetings and salutations...
"Anarchy In April 2005" is now in the books, and once again Elite Championship Wrestling took The Houston County Farm Center by storm showcasing the very best Independent wrestling in Southeastern Alabama.
Here are the results:
At the beginning of the show, Michael Steel was presented with the ECW Heavyweight Championship, winning the title by default. Last weekend, Steel defeated Scott Armstrong in the semi-finals and was scheduled to take on B.G. James (who defeated "The Savior" Yako Romero in his semi-final match) in the finals to decide the new champion; however, James didn't show tonight, and as such, Steel was crowned the new champion. Sadly, the new Champion didn't have much time to celebrate, as he was informed moments later that he would be defending his newly "won" title against none other than NWA-TNA Superstar, "Primetime" Elix Skipper in the main event! Upset, Steel argued against this, but soon left to no doubt formulate his game plan for later in the show.
Mark Stevens (with Equinox, his lovely valet) defeated Damien LaVaye by pinfall following a very close, heated contest. Stevens took it to Damien early, but found himself on the receiving end of a suicide dive after being tossed from the ring. Battling back, he returned the punishment to Damien in kind, and was eventually able to keep him down for the count. It was a great opening bout with lots of action.
PJ Luke and Jeff Jameson defeated Twisted and Street Bandit, “The Youngbloodz,” when Jameson pinned Twisted following a somersault from the top rope. It was a great high-energy tag match with the action getting chaotic and spilling out onto the floor at several points during the contest. After dropping the fall, “The Youngbloodz” attacked Luke and Jameson in an attempt to gain a measure of revenge, but Forsaken came to the rescue driving them from the ring.
“The Role Model” Brian Sterling defeated “New Sensation” Adam Hunter by pinfall after Hunter missed a Shooting Star Press. Sterling spoke briefly before the start of the match about how he was the “measuring stick” for independent wrestling. In response, Hunter started the crowd chanting “Mama’s Boy.” Needless to say, Sterling was less than pleased. The bout started, both men showed some nice mat work before opening up on each other with some stiff shots. At the end, Sterling managed to roll out of the way of Hunter’s SSP and covered his dazed foe for the win.
At this point in the show, “The Savior” Yako Romero came out upset about his loss to Raven in a “Raven’s Rules Match” at “ECW Allegiance” last October. He started calling out Raven, at one point telling him to “get off the oxygen” and put aside his “walker,” demanding a rematch, but with “Savior’s Rules” in effect. This brought out Whiplash, who basically told Yako that he wasn’t anyone’s savior, and that Raven won, because he was “better.” Obviously, “The Savior” took exception to this, and the match was set.
“The Savior” Yako Romero defeated Whiplash in a “Savior Rules Match,” where it was anything goes and pinfalls counted anywhere in the building. In a fantastic match, Whiplash and Yako pulled out all the stops and brutalized each other in and outside the ring. Whiplash seemed to have the upper hand at one point following a hurracanrana on Yako from the apron to the floor, but couldn’t keep “The Savior” down. Then, he nailed him with a moonsault off the sound stage and a standing moonsault, but again Yako refused to be pinned. Eventually, the action returned to the ring, and both men punished each other with chairs before Yako was finally able to put away Whiplash with a Frogsplash from the top rope.
Forsaken defeated “Mr. 630” Jerrell Clark by pinfall following what I can only describe as a swung-out, modified sideslam. The match itself was awesome, with both men really taking it to the limit. Clark spent a majority of the match working on Forsaken’s arm, but to his credit, Forsaken refused to submit. After trading moves and jockeying for position, Forsaken blocked Clark and dropped him with that modified sideslam for the victory.
Jason Hero defeated The Magnificent Pedro by pinfall with a Sunset Flip. Hero had the crowd solidly behind him, but Pedro resorted to “cheap tactics” to gain the upper hand and utilized his weight advantage to punish Hero. However, he was soon sent scrambling as Hero managed to bounce back and finally hook him with the Sunset Flip for the pinfall. After the match, an upset Pedro attacked the official and stormed to the back in anger.
“Primetime” Elix Skipper defeated Michael Steel by pinfall following a “Play of the Day” to become the new ECW Heavyweight Champion. Coming out to the ring, Skipper brought all the kids from the stands down to sit in the front row, which was very cool, and everyone in attendance seemed to agree that it was “Primetime.” He seemed eager to prove this too, by having Steel in trouble several times in the match causing the champion to retreat to the outside and asking for the official’s help to win the match (to his credit, the official remained impartial). The champ did manage to get in some offense and scored several near falls on Skipper, but in the end “Primetime” hit the “Play of the Day” to seal the victory and win the ECW Title.
Afterwards, it was announced that Skipper would be defending the ECW Title at “Annihilation” on June 12th in a huge match against Former NWA World Heavyweight and Multi-time X Division Champion, “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles!
