WWE House Show Results from Hattiesburg, Mississippi 3-20-05

A lot of the roster couldn't make it to the arena due to 'weather' issues, so an impromptu 'WWE Title tournament' was held with the winner getting a title shot vs. JBL later in the evening.
The place wasn't full by any stretch of the imagination, probably because we don't get Smackdown here. The small crowd was a hot one, though.
Match 1
The first match was a debut, of sorts, of MNM. Joey Matthews, Johnny Nitro, and Mileena came out resembling an updated Midnight Express. They challenged any team or any one person in the back to a match.
To everyone's surprise (sarcasm), The Big Show made his way to the ring. The following match was pretty hilarious with various goofy spots. At one point, the Big Show chopped the hell out of Matthews who rolled out of the ring, borrowed a drink from a fan, rubbed ice on his welts, then went back for another beating. The team managed to work on Show's legs to turn the tide, but he finally overwhelmed them with a double chokeslam for the pin. He went to chokeslam Mileena, but kissed her instead.
Mileena was hotness. She wore a white low-cut midriff, denim skirt, and lace panties, which she showed off each time she entered the ring by doing a split. Simply wonderful.
Match 2
The first match of the tourney was John Cena vs. Kurt Angle.
Cena grabbed a mic and did his usual 'chain gang' routine. This was one hell of a surprise and it delivered. Lots of mat wrestling and reversals. Angle made Cena look like a million bucks. This match alone was worth the $40 ticket. Angle locked on the Angle Lock, but Cena rolled over into a victory roll pin for the win.
Match 3
The second match of the tourney was Eddie G. vs. Big Show
Eddie and Show argued over a possible test of strength (Eddie said "What? Do you think I'm stupid, esse?") but eventually got into a decent match which ended with a frogsplash, pin, Show throws Eddie off on top of the ref, knocking him out, Eddie sneaking back in with a chair, the ref wakes up, Eddie throws the chair to Show, falls to the ground, and the ref DQ'd Show.
Intermission
Match 4
The third match of the toruney (which made NO sense, I guess Booker T got a bye?) was Eddie G. vs. Booker T.
Book came out and said that he had no beef with Eddie and that Eddie should just go home and rest. Eddie claimed that we had all paid good money to see a match and that's what we got. Eddie lost when Booker T rolled him over and held the tights. The two shook hands and parted ways.
Match 5
The final match of the tourney was Booker T vs. John Cena.
Booker T has a habit of screaming random sounds while landing hits for some odd reason. The match was pretty old-hat at this point because Cena and Book had already exhausted their move lists. The work was solid, however and Cena won with an F-U.
Match 6
World title Match: John Cena vs. WWE World Champion JBL
Cena and JBL exchanged insults via mic (JBL had to ask where he was and referred to the 'burg as Haiti's Berg), then went right into the match. Cena had the upperhand for most of the match before JBL threatened to leave since the assorted trailer park trash in the arena didn't deserve to be in his presence. Cena chased him and brought him back into the ring to beat on him some more. Angle ran in and attacked Cena, costing JBL the match by DQ. Big Show returned to clean house and challenge Angle and JBL to an impromptu tag match. After much deliberation, the heels accepted and the match was on.
Cena played the face in peril at the mercy of Angle and JBL until Show got the hot tag and won with a double closeline, then a chokeslam on JBL for the 1-2-3.
Great show, overall, considering the talent that didn't make it to the arena. Cena and Big Show carried the show and it was a great surprise to see Angle when he wasn't advertised.
