WWE SMACKDOWN! HOUSE SHOW RESULTS 2-26-05 THE PALACE OF AUBURN HILLS MICHIGAN The show opens with Theodore R. Long in the ring running down the card for the night. He announces The Big Show vs JBL for the WWE Championship, John Cena vs Orlando Jordan for the United States Championship, Undertaker vs Luther Reigns, and Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio vs The Basham Brothers for the Tag Team Championship. EDDIE GUERRERO AND REY MYSTERIO VS THE BASHAM BROTHERS FOR THE WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP Eddie and Rey make their way to the ring in what looked to be a 1960's teal and green Ford Mustang. Good match. Similar to their last two matches at the ppv and smackdown last week. Funny comedy from Eddie through the match. Ref kept on Eddie about holding the tag ropes, so when the ref wasnt looking, Eddie untied it and retied it over the rope to allow him to pull it to the center of the ring. Rey performed the same spot he did this past week when he dodges the Bashams by zig zagging through their legs, underneath and over both Bashams. Good heat for the Bashams. Loud "Eddie" and "619" chants through the match. The Bashams pulled their switch at one point during the match. Eddie and Rey win after a 619 and a Frog Splash. Post match Eddie gets on the mic and says " I usually say Viva La Raza, but tonight its Viva Auburn Hills!". WINNERS: EDDIE GUERRERO AND REY MYSTERIO Scotty 2 Hotty is then announced as the special MC for the next contest MISS SMACKDOWN! HOT BODY CONTEST: MISS JACKIE VS DAWN MARIE Scotty stumbles on the mic a little when describing the rules. He says this is what his fellow perverts have been waiting for. Jackie disrobes first and Scotty helps her remove her red lace top. She struts around and then removes her red lace bottom and shes in red silk bra and panties. Dawn Marie argues with the ring announcer then disrobes herself. she throws the announcer to the mat and dances over him, even squatting right down in his face. Miss Jackie is declared the winner from the fans reaction, although Dawn Maries first reaction was equal the that of Jackies, and I thought Dawn looked better anyway. Dawn tackles Jackie to the mat from behind and attacks her when shes down. WINNER: MISS JACKIE HARDCORE HOLLY AND CHARLIE HAAS VS JOEY MATHEWS AND JOHNNY NITRO WITH MELINA (MNM) Great Charisma and ability from MNM. They sort of reminded me of the Hardy Boyz with Lita, only with this prima donna type attitude. They wore big fur coats to the ring and had matching black and white tights. Looked like a real team. Good Heat for them also. They should definately be brought up to the main roster, especially with the lacking tag team division in WWE. Holly wins for his team with the Alabama Slam. Great heat for the virtual unknowns in their exit. WINNERS: HARDCORE HOLLY AND CHARLIE HAAS FATAL FOUR-WAY FOR THE WWE CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: CHAVO GUERRERO VS PAUL LONDON VS SPIKE DUDLEY VS FUNAKI Decent Cruiserweight match, nothing too spectacular though. More mat-based. Funaki was eliminated first by Spike. Then seconds later Spike is eliminated after Funaki grabs his feet on an Irish Whip putting Spike face first in the mat, I cant remember who pinned him. London and Chavo go at it for a while, longer than they did at the ppv. It got somewhat uninteresting for a minute. Im not a fan of Londons fringe boots or the coat he wears to the ring. Good energy from London in his comebacks, but I think he comes off silly. Chavo wins with a roll up. Post match saw London charge to the back in chase of Chavo. WINNER: CHAVO GUERRERO BOOKER T VS HEIDENREICH Exactly what could be expected from these two. Same match as the house show I saw two weeks earlier in Lansing, minus the outcome. Mid match Booker tries to go after Heidenreich with a chair on the outside for revenge from No Way Out, but the ref takes it from him mid swing. Terrible offense from Heidenreich. I just dont understand what they see in this guy. Good Pop for Booker and "Booker T" chants through the match. Good heat for Heidi. Booker wins with the Bookend after a failed scissors kick attempt doesnt get the pin. Post match Heidenreich is on the mic leaning over the ring apron and says "You people cheated me, You just dont understand, I just want to be loved!". Silly. WINNER: BOOKER T 15 MINUTE INTERMISSION (They put a WWE Smackdown!/Wrestlemania 21 blue background advertisement on the screen that loops around the arena. This should have been left on the entire show. It gave the atmosphere more of an exciting live event feel.) UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: JOHN CENA VS ORLANDO JORDAN Huge Pop for John Cena. Cena is on the mic before the match to hype up the crowd. Talks about the Chain Gang going to Wrestlemania. He doesnt do a rap though. Calls OJ a suit wearin ass-kissin chump. Decent match from these two. Like most Cena matches in my opinion, its got more of a brawl feel to it. Good heat for Jordan through the match when he would stop to pose. Cena wins with the F-U. WINNER: JOHN CENA RENEE DUPREE VS MARK JINDRAK Heel vs Heel? Oh I guess because Jindrak and Reigns got into a brawl on Smackdown! people are going to cheer Jindrak now. I knew there was a point to this though. Renee is on the mic telling everyone their dreams have come true, the French phenom is here, and tells the announcer to announce his opponent who by the way, Dupree points out, is American. Shortly into the match Luther runs down and interferes taking down Jindrak. Dupree joins him in a beat down. Teddy Long makes his way to ringside and says since Luther and Renee have joined each other, Auburn Hills is going to see Tag Team action and tells Mark Jindrak not to worry, his partner is none other than The ... (Lights go out and the gong hits, place goes nuts.) THE UNDERTAKER AND MARK JINDRAK VS LUTHER REIGNS AND RENEE DUPREE Decent and entertaining match, if only for The Undertakers presence. Mid-match Renee gets busted open pretty damn good. The entire right side of his face is wearing a crimson mask. Huge Pops for the Undertaker on every one of his spots. Luther tries to bring a chair into the ring when Jindrak dropkicks it into his face, while Taker and Dupree are fighting inside the ring. Taker gets the win after a Chokeslam and Tombstone Piledriver on Dupree. Post match Taker wanders back and forth around the ring for what seems like ages. Jindraks music hits and he comes back in and does his pelvic thrust movements to the crowd. The music changes back to Taker's and he does more pacing until he gets on his knee and reaches for the sky under a blue spotlight. Luther is the last to leave ringside to very good heat. WINNERS: THE UNDERTAKER AND MARK JINDRAK JOHN BRADSHAW LAYFIELD WITH ORLANDO JORDAN VS THE BIG SHOW FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP JBL is on the mic prior to the match and insults the Michigan crowd. He tells the security guard at ringside to take the night off, for some reason having to do with the Palace Brawl between the Detroit Pistons and the Indiana Pacers. Major Heat during this promo. Pokes fun at the Red Wings and their cancelled season. Insults the Detroit Lions saying that they dont show up on the weekends. Brings up the fact he is the longest reigning WWE Champion in the last decade. Runs through a laundry list of the past champions and says he is a Wrestling God. Mentions John Cena and their Title match at 'Mania. Says Cena will bow at his feet and proclaim him a Wrestling God. JBL says he will fight 2-300 of us fans for a warm up before his match tonight. Good pop for The Big Shows entrance. Slow but decent match. Same offense from the cage match last sunday. Only i think the cage actually limits the performers. Orlando makes his way into the ring midmatch and tries to interfere, Big Show headbutts him down. Odd spot where Big Show clotheslines Bradshaw then midswing baseball slides to the groung and goes for the pin. The Bashams make their way out and interfere on behalf of JBL, forcing the DQ. The Cabinet forms for a beatdown on The Big Show and John Cena comes out to make the save. A chokeslam on Orlando Jordan leaves him motionless and and F-U to one of the Bashams puts John Cena and The Big Show in control. Cena puts on JBL's hat and goes for the 5 knuckle shuffle. He stops first and grabs the WWE championship belt. The Big Show and John Cena celebrate in the ring and leave ringside to a huge ovation. Post match JBL still lies motionless in the ring. Orlando and The Bashams try to revive him. Orlando gets on the mic and tells JBL he looks terrible. He says he looks like the Detroit Lions. He gets mad at the heat theyre getting and iterates that the we people suck and that they are never coming back there again, which gets a good pop. Overall a very worthwhile show. 8 out of 10 if I do say so. The only downside was that KURT ANGLE WASNT THERE. Better than the house show two weeks earlier in Lansing, which i would give a 6 out of 10, and that included a cage match. But me and my friend had a good time that night nonetheless, minus the guys horrendous breathe to our left. Here is the link to the results. http://www.lordsofpain.net/news/2005/articles/1108578355.php I have to point out that "The Hogan Guy" was in attendance again this night, again in the front row. Although this time he wasnt in his full get-up. Hes been at every single show I've been to, and I've been to about 20 some shows. I actually missed Teddy Longs opening promo and Eddie and Reys entrance due to an extremely slow employee at the souvenir stands. The other line was moving at least three times faster than the one I was in was moving. It was rediculous. I had to be filled in from my girlfriend what happened. I did see a crew member backing Eddies car out of the arena though. The souvenir stands have been somewhat lacking in my opinion. They did shoot T-shirts from the T-shirt gun into the crowd at one point during the night. The arena was at about half capacity. Larger turn out than I expected though. No way did I expect a full house for a house show. The Palace is much larger than I remember. They should have Wrestlemania here in 2007. This considering the crowd capacity they have been shooting for with 2004, 2005, and 2006's Wrestlemanias. Wrestlemania being in Chicago in 2006. If anything else, tonights capacity may have been just under half. Hot crowd though. The card didnt change too much from what was advertised on www.wwe.com. The only difference came with the Undertaker match. Scotty 2 Hotty vs Renee Dupree was scrapped as a result. It was advertised on TV as a triple threat title match with JBL vs The Big Show vs The Undertaker. It was kind of odd seeing so few people in there after it was jam-packed the night before when I saw Motley Crue. BIGGEST POPS: The Undertaker John Cena The Big Show Eddie/Rey Booker T MOST HEAT: JBL Orlando Jordan The Bashams Renee Dupree/Luther Reigns MNM
