WWE SmackDown! Results - February 24, 2005

The show opens with a commercial hyping JBL and his celebration tonight, sponsored by the Friends of JBL. We then get a recap of the recent events involving Batista, JBL, and Triple H. Credits, pyro, and Michael Cole and Tazz welcome us to the show. Tonight we get a celebration of excellence for JBL, we find out if Teddy Long gets to keep his job, and we get to see Undertaker in a Double Jeopardy match vs Mark Jindrak and Luther Reigns.

The new tag champs Eddie and Rey head out in the lowrider for their first title defense. Rey has the 619 cam. Their opponents are the Bashams, using their rematch clause I assume. Rey gets knocked out outside the ring and the Bashams work over Eddie for a while. Rey recovers, and he and Eddie take control. Rey hits the 619, Eddie hits the Frog Splash, and Rey Drops the Dime on Doug Basham for the win.

We see some shots from No Way Out, then we go to the divas locker room. Orlando Jordan comes in and invites them all to JBLs celebration.

Angle heads out to the ring with security for the Kurt Angle Invitational. Cole and Tazz talk about Shawn Michaels challenge to Kurt. Kurt calls out his opponent, Matt Martel from South Philly. Matt grabs the mike and asks Kurt how it felt to lose to John Cena at NWO. Kurt knocks Matt on his ass, then beats him around before making him tap to the ankle lock. Tazz heads in the ring and asks Kurt about Shawn Michaels challenge. We then see Shawn asking Teddy for the match from RAW. Kurt starts to respond a few times, then walks out without saying anything.

Outside we see a limo with guests arriving for JBLs celebration.

Heidenreich is backstage writing, and Josh Matthews asks HR about his match with Booker at NWO. HR says he wrote a poem about it.

Booker T found out really quick just how crazy just how sick.
He found out the hardest way my experience and my pain face to face.
He stepped in the ring with me thinking he could win
but he failed to see that you cant beat Heidenreich because I dont value human life.
I had to hit him with the chair my friend, and Booker will never breathe again.

That was a poem by Heidenreich.

We see some more shots from the WWE Champ match at NWO. The celebration stuff is set up around the ring. Catering tables, people drinking champagne. JBL is backstage with OJ talking about his injuries. OJ asks is JBL is sure if he is ready for the celebration. JBL says this is his moment, his legacy, and he will do it. We then see Linda McMahon getting set up in Stamford for her announcement about Teddy Longs job.

OJ and the Bashams are in the ring, and OJ talks up JBL. MOOOOOOOOOO! JBl comes out, greets all his guests, and gets in the ring with his cabinet. A women sings some opera style music to JBL while the cabinet toasts him. OJ unveils a portrait of JBL with the title, and they kiss his ass some more. Crowd chants for Cena. JBL makes a speech, same old stuff we have heard before. Insults the crowd, etc. Big Shows music hits and he comes out trashing the party. Show goes after JBL, but the cabinet defends JBL, hitting Show with a champagne bottle and beating him down while the crowd chants Cena. Cena is never one to disappoint a crowd, so he runs out and makes the save, taking down the cabinet. Teddy Long heads out and makes a match, JBL and OJ vs Show and Cena.

Back from commercial Chavo is in the ring and Funaki comes out for his rematch. Chavo hits the Gory Bomb to retain the Cruiserweight championship. Paul London runs in wearing a fur coat and attacks Chavo. He back bodydrops Chavo, then hits the dropsault, knocking Chavo out of the ring. He yells that Chavo stole his title. Are they finally pushing London? We can only hope.

Commercial for Constantine. Very cool movie everybody. I highly recommend it.

Back from commercial and Reigns and Jindrak come out for their match with Taker, who makes his usual entrance. Taker faces Jindrak first, and lets him get some good offense, but makes him tap to the Triangle Choke after he knocks Reigns off the apron. Reigns heads in the ring and berates Jindrak, and they argue. Jindrak finally has had to much, and he punches Reigns. They fight, until the refs and agents come out and break them up. We see Linda McMahon getting set up, and her announcement is next.

Teddy Long is in the ring, and he tells us he has had fun as the GM, but tonight may be his last night. He says regardless of the Boards decision, he is proud to be the GM. Carlitos heads out and taunts Teddy. He tells Teddy that his reign of terror is over. Carlito says that after Teddy is gone, Carlito is gonna have the fun, and that is cool. We go to Linda McMahon, who runs down the circumstances. She announces that while Teddy may have made some biased decisions, he did so for Smackdown, and Teddy will keep his job. She tells Carlito to stop calling, and for Teddy to keep up the good work. Crowd chants Teddy. Carlito throws down the mike, and starts to do his apple bit, but Teddy grabs it and tells Carlito that if he thinks his life has been a nightmare, he has not seen anything yet.

Its time for the main event, Cena and Big Show vs JBL and OJ. I thinks a good Mania match for Show would be him vs. OJ and the Bashams. Short match, and Cena wins after the FU and 5 Knuckle Shuffle on OJ. Cena and Show celebrate while taunting JBL.
