Backstage news from Royal Rumble; Big named injured, Plans for upcoming angles Submitted by Brian Cantor on Monday, January 31, 2005 at 12:04 AM EST
-- The early word was that there were no serious injuries at the PPV, aside from the usual bumps and bruises. Paul London's injury was purely a work to sell the hard shot he took from Snitsky, although it definitely was a high-risk bump.
Update: We have now learned that Vince McMahon's mishap entering the ring led to a legitimate injury. The severity is not yet known, although a crowd formed around Vince backstage as a trainer examined his condition. The initial feeling is that he blew out his knee, although that's not confirmed at this point.
-- As indicated in the spoiler post from earlier in the weekend, WWE is definitely planning to go with Undertaker and Kane against Snitsky and Heidenreich.
-- The encounter during the Royal Rumble also implies Kurt Angle vs. HBK will take place at WrestleMania 21.
-- The Royal Rumble match was obviously designed to get Batista and Cena over, while furthering certain angles.
