More backstage news & *spoilers* for WWE Royal Rumble Submitted by Brian Cantor on Sunday, January 30, 2005 at 6:59 PM EST
-- One of the big issues with the show is that if one views it as a "setup" show for WrestleMania, since it's the last dual-brand show before the PPV, there is the possibility for interference in every undercard match. Snitsky or Kane could get involved in the casket match to set up the rumored interbrand tag match (Taker/Kane vs. Heidenreich/Snitsky). Batista could get involved in HHH-Orton to continue the push for an HHH vs. Batista match. Angle or Shawn Michaels can interfere in the other's match to set up their storyline.
Having an interference in every match would be deemed overkill, but there definitely should be some build towards WM21 angles.
-- The obvious favorites for the Royal Rumble are John Cena and Batista, with some chance of a 'shock' winner (if WWE decides to go with a RAW star challenging the SD champion). The big interest of the match will be WWE's utilization of other talent. Who will get squashed? Who will seemingly 'go the distance,' only to be eliminated at the end? Will there be surprise entrants?
