TNA Impact! Results - January 21, 2005
Howdy ya'll! Are you ready for some wrestling? BSB here, with this weeks TNA Impact results. Had a job interview today, for a position as store manager for a Walden Books near my home. Ya'll do me a favor and cross your fingers for me. But enough talk about me, lets get to the TNA!
We open with a recap of Final Resolution, with some pictures of Hardy and Abyss, AMW winning the titles from Team Canada, AJ Styles winning the X title in Ultimate X, and JJ retaining the world title against Monty Brown. Then the credits.
Mike Tenay welcomes us to the show, and says there is a huge announcement next. Pyro, then Mike Tenay and Don West at ringside. They give us the hard sell for the FR replay, calling it one of the greatest PPVs ever. They talk about a press conference earlier today about Against all Odds. And heres the footage.
Mike Tenay announces the main event as Jeff Jarrett defending the NWA World title against Kevin Nash. JJ gets up to speak, and JJ says at AaO, he will get the job done. King of Mountain, Planet Jarrett, etc. Kevin has other things, while JJ focuses on nothing but the title. Kevin says the odds are against JJ, he is a 5 time champ, a 13 time tag champ, and IC champ, greatest world champ. With the belt comes money, and thats while Nash is here. Then they take questions. Someone asks for a face to face photo, and they agree. Photo is taken, and Nash takes a shot at JJ. A question for JJ. How will JJ compensate for the height difference? JJ says he defends the title all over the world, and everyone is the same size on their back. A question for Nash, and he tells us again the all he wants is the money. DDP asks JJ if he is King of the Mountain, does that mean Nash is his queen. JJ says if the shoe fits, wear it. Scuffle starts, but security breaks it up. Footage is over as we go to commercial.
We are back, and its time for the Fallen Angel, Christopher Daniels! He is facing Buck Quartermain. Buck takes control early, then misses a Senton Splash, and Daniels takes over. He hits the TestDrive (I forget his name for it at the moment) for the 3 count at :59. He then calls for the mike, and says he is tired of protection and favoratism from TNA and Dusty Rhodes. He calls out AJ Styles, and says he wants a title shot. He says AJ could not beat him on his best day. AJs music hits, and here he comes, mike in hand. AJ asks if he heard him right. He says he has held every belt, and is a fighting champ. He says he will face Daniels any time, any place. Daniels says this time, this place. He wants 10 minutes with AJ, if AJ cant beat him, he wants a title shot. Dusty interrupts, then makes the match. If AJ cant beat Daniels, he gets the shot at AaO.
Back from commercial and Jeff Hardy is in the ring. He is facing Lex Lovett. Le slaps Hardy, and Hardy takes him down and punches and stomps him. Lex tries to come back with some punches, but Hardy hits all his standard moves then hits the Swanton for the win at 2:28. It is announced during the match that Hardy will face Abyss in a Table, Ladders, Chairs match at AaO. After the match Abyss attacks Hardy, hits the Black Hole Slam, and tosses Lex out of the ring. Abyss goes outside the ring, gets a table, and sets it up outside the ring. Abyss goes back in and grabs Hardy. Hardy tries to fight back, but Abyss press slams Hardy out of the ring through the table. AWESOME!
Commercial, and Victory Road and Best of 3 Live Kru are now available. You can bet I will have those soon.
Were back, and Shane Douglas is interviewing 6 time Tag Champs, Americas Most Wanted. Shane asks AMW how it feels to be the hunted. AMW says the welcome the hunt. They welcome a rematch with Team Canada, or matches with any other team in TNA. Kid Kash and Dallas, or Lance now, interrupt, and says they are 2 time champs, and they want a shot. Harris says if they want a shot, great. But if they want a fight, that a bad idea!
Back at the ring, and here come The Naturals. Next out is Michael Shane and Frankie Kazarian. Heel vs Heel match. I say again, Shane and Kazarian are one of the best teams in TNA, but are never pushed. Kid Kash and Dallas are a great team too, but let Kash be a singles wrestler and let AMW have a long feud with Shane and Kazarian. Kazarian and Chase Stevens start with a few lockups. The winner of this match will be one of the top contenders for the Tag Title match at AaO. Naturals play the heels, isolating and double teaming Shane. Kid Kash and Lance Hoyt, aka Dallas interrupt, and take out the Naturals. they then go into the ring and attack Shane and Kazarian too. The Naturals run back in and a big brawl breaks out. AMW runs out and joins the fray. Brawl continues until security comes out to break it up as we go to commercial.
Were back, and here comes Cassidey Riley. I dont know much about this kid, but I think he has some good moves. His opponent is Raven, who comes out with Pain written on his chest. Raven runs in and beats down Riley. He takes him down with punches, then a running knee. He heads to the top and drives his knee into Riley. Riley tries to fight back, but Raven take shim down and gets and Anklelock, Riley fights out, but Raven hits the Raven Effect. He pulls Riley up at 2. Than again. Third time he lets the 3 count happen. He then breaks two of Rileys fingers, then gets a chair. Dustin Rhodes runs in and pulls Riley out of the ring. Raven challenges Dustin to come in the ring, but Dustin helps Riley out as Raven leaves on the other side.
Back from commercial and Shane Douglas is with the 3 Live Kru. Shane asks them what their problem is with Shane and Kazarian, and their relationship with Jeff Hammond. Konnan says if they have a problem, bring it on. BG James says Hammond is a winner, and if they want to step in the ring with Hammond, they better not underestimate him. Truth says can he get at AMEN!
Back at the ring, Hammond has joined Tenay and West at commentary. Tenay tells us that BG James and Jeff Hammond will face Shane and Kazarian at AaO. What a waste of some great talent. We see a replay of Hardy being slammed through the table. Still awesome. And here comes the Fallen Angel! If he can last 10 minutes with AJ, he gets the title shot at AaO. AJ heads out, and its time for the main event!
Daniels and AJ start with some chain wrestling, AJ working on Daniels arm before Daniels gets AJ in a head scissors. Daniels works a headlock, AJ whips him off, then hits his beautiful dropkick. Daniels ducks out the ring, AJ tries to hit a clotheline off the apron, Daniels catches AJ and throws him into the barrier as we go to commercial.
We are back, and 4:30 is left. Daniels has AJ on the mat and is working on him. He gets him in a crossface type move, but AJ gets his foot on the rope. He pounds on AJ, and 3:20 is left. AJ starts to fight back, but Daniels put him down again. Daniels goes for a kick, but AJ catches his foot then snapmares Daniels, then an enzurigiri. Both mena re down and the ref starts the count. AJ hits some clotheslines, then the Pele. AJ knocks Daniels down with a springboard clothesline for a 2 count. Daniels goes for a german, but AJ counters and hits his Springboard Reverse DDT for a 2 count. AJ goes for a suplex, but Daniels reverses into a backdrop into a sitdown powerbomb for a 2 count. AJ hits Daniels with a clothesline and both men are down, AJ pins for a 2. Daniels goes for a slam, but AJ reverses into a pin for 2. AJ backslides Daniels, only 2. Daniels avoids AJ until the clock is up! Daniels gets the title match at AaO. Daniels grabs the match ands tells AJ to give him his title match at the PPV. Dusty comes out, and asks the crowd is they want to see this match. The crowd says YES! Dusty says Daniels gets the match, but it will be a 30 minute Ironman match! AWESOME! This might almost make up for having to see JJ and Nash wrestle. Almost.
Against all Odds is shaping up, and other than the World title match it looks good. What makes them think Jeff Jarrett and Kevin Nash will have a good match? I have only seen Nash have a good match with Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, and Chris Jericho. And Jeff Jarrett cannot compare with any of those men. This match will really suck. But anyway, all ya'll have a good one!
