![]() Thanks to Phantom Lord for the banner. Read his column. ______________________________ This past week, I said some things about Vince Russo that many people didn't agree with. In fact, the out pour of Russo supporters, marks, and all around Jesus freaks helped me in having to pay a fee of 9.95$ this month because of all the hate mail (save probably 3-4 emails) sent to me. It filled up my 250MB Hotmail account, though, to be fair, most (10-15) of the emails used wonderful photoshop (read: shitty Paint) files to tell me how much I suck Vince Russo's cock (this is equally amazing since there isn't a picture of what I look like on the internet). The other hate mails (30-40) were basically long winded speeches of how I'm not religious and that I'm not wrestling fan and I'm not anything really; usual banter from people who hate me, yet can't help but read what I write. Reason I'm writing this is because I want to address some things that these people accuse me of. I'm doing this now since I didn't have time to do it earlier in the week. First off, I don't hate Vince Russo. He did the smart thing and copied a formula from another federation to fit his own. Surpirsingly, a lot of people who emailed me cannot see the similar concepts between the Attitude era of the WWF and the 'norm' of ECW. I tell them simply, 'Watch the ECW DVD and if you still don't have a clue, trade in your Ultimate Warrior teddy bear for a pair of fucking glasses'. I know that everything Russo did was to help the WWF and I do appreciate his help. Problem is (and I hope you do understand this), I wrote that column with such a blind look on Russo because I knew that I would get a ton of Russo supporters to email me and tell me how wrong I must be. It's pretty sad when, if I look to make an ass out of someone, everyone will be offended. Most of the mail was from supposed Russo haters themselves, which all read something to the tune of 'I hate Vince too, but you have to admit....' No, pee wee, you're wrong; I don't have to admit anything. If wasn't sure about writing something, I'd simply not write it. Yes; it really is that simple. What my stands were against (and hopefully if you all of you ever read one of my columns where I rip an interview) are simple, really. (1) is no interviewer, no matter who they are, asks tough questions anymore. I would have loved to hear what he had to say if someone asked him why he felt he had enough talent to book the WWF. I don't think you'd get a fair answer from him because he really enjoys living in a fantasy world where everything he does is right. I don't need to point out the many interviews he's given in just the past 2 years to show that he thinks he's always right. If I had my chance to interview him, I'd ask him, with his new found religion readily available to get him out of another jam, what he feels like now after saying this, and now I'm quoting, I'm sure, now that he's found God and has had 5-6 years to think about it, I'm sure he would give me a subpar answer. It's guarenteed that 'God' will be in the answer. (2) would be that I showed that, if you go after an idea or an opinion that someone has in public, you will be burned at the stake. Reguardless of what you would like to believe, there are not a lot of Russo haters. I'm actually in the deep minority, especially since I hated the ideas that the WWF were producing in 96-97 back when it was actually happening, so I've hated Russo for a long time; much longer than most people. You also can't blame me on politic-bashing since I've never given a fuck about backstage politics. As for wrestling not being able to draw without entertainment, the reason why the entertainment sucks is because there's nothing the WWF can copy from. Music wouldn't be that great if there was only one artist. Movies wouldn't be that terrific if there was only one movie. Entertainment strives on competition; which is why I blame Vince Russo. He killed off the remainder of WCW by copying the WWF; problem was that he didn't think the fans were smart enough to get it. It's easy to rip off ECW at the time, since they weren't known anywhere but in the Northeast. What's been carrying the WWF for this long? The wrestling. I don't talk about the entertainment anymore because it's playing the same song and watch the same movie. And (3) would be my hatred for the man for cloaking his guilt on religion. Saying everything you did was wrong, but now it's alright because you found Jesus is wrong completely. It's like a chronic child rapist who says he's ok now because he has a child of his own. If there was anything I'm angry about in Russo, it's the fact that he still hasn't taken responsibility for his mistake; he clouds it behind religion. It's like a alcholic being cured without telling anyone his lazy ass couldn't do it without AA. If there was any feedback that actually affected me, it was the fact that just because I go after a guy who says he's accept Christ, I'm instantly a horrible person. I love Christians. My parents are Christian. I love them because I can have religious debates with them and I don't have to hear (well...not from the open-minded ones anyway) that I'm wrong for not believing in what they think God is teaching them. I don't attack Christians because some of ones I know are worth my respect; but even, with all their dogma behind them as well, they think that Russo is a piece of shit for crawling behind God when he's asked a real question. For anyone to bash me and my religious beliefs and ideals just because I happen to think that one of the sheep is an asshole is ridiculous. Newsflash, I didn't bash Christians, I bashed one of them for spoiling the good name that Christians have. People complain to me that I should commend him for what he's done to wrestling. I don't think he's done anything to wrestling; maybe sports entertainment, but that's because sports entertainment used to exist in 1996-1999. Yeah, I may have said some things that a lot of people hated, but the great thing is that I don't have to give anyone credit for doing their job. It's their job to entertain me. If you're a fan and you make it too personal, then of course what I said is something you wouldn't agree with. I'm sure you, like most people would, will brush me off and say 'I don't care really about it'; when you know you do. I get accused of hating the product; I don't hate the product, I hate that it's not going anywhere. I don't hate Vince Russo, I hate the fact that he was one of the reasons why wrestling hasn't evolved into anything but entertainment. It's great to have entertainment, but, at the end of it all, it's the two guys beating each other up that the fans paid for; which is something that Vince Russo didn't get. So, this is Vince Russo, born again wrestling writer and all around asshole: ![]() Merry fucking Christmas, fuckface. ** - 'The Death Of WCW', R.D.
