WWE to hold first-ever barbed wire cage match in 2005?

Apparently WWE may be introducing their first-ever barbed wire cage match in 2005. According to promotional material, the match will take place at the February PPV, No Way Out.

WWE has never sanctioned such a match, however, the barbed wire bat has been used in numerous matches involving Mick Foley. Terry Funk and Foley both pitched for a no ropes exploding barbed wire match for WrestleMania 14, however, the idea was dropped when Mike Tyson was booked for the show.

No Way Out is scheduled to emanate from Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, a state in which the use of barbed wire in a wrestling match has been banned. It should be interesting to see if WWE is forced to adhere to the same rules that independent wrestling promotions are made to work under.
