Monday Night Raw - November 15, 2004
Submitted by Doug Maynard on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at 1:40 AM EST
Go ahead and put the sign in the window. "Under New Management" because Survivor Series is in the books. Team Orton aka "The Scooby Gang" won their match against the "HHH All Stars" and are in control of Raw for the new four weeks while Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff takes a vacation. You know it's gonna be a good one! I'm Doug Maynard and this is the LOP Monday Night Raw report. Raw is coming live fron Indianapolis, IN. The men at ringside, as always are Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler. And now , it's time to get absolutely Raw!
La Resistance is in the ring. They're waving the flags. Plug your ears because Sylvain is getting ready to sing. Nope - here comes the boss - and welcome to "Raw Is Maven!". The TE winner gets to run the show and he's got some great matches lined up. For the first time in three years, Edge & Christian team up to take on Chris Benoit & Shelton Benjamin. The Coach takes on J.R. plus Stacy Keibler & Christy Hemme are competing in a lingerie pillow fight. Sounds good so far. And in the main event, it's his dream come true as HHH will defends the World Championship against (surprise!) Maven. As for La Resistance. They're not singing tonight unless it's the blues. They get to defend the Tag Team Titles in a Triple-Threat Elimination match. Right now!
WWE World Tag Team Championship Match - Triple Threat Elimination Rules LA RESISTANCE (c) versus RHYNO & TAJIRI versus WILLIAM REGAL & EUGENE
Rhyno & Conway start off with some mutual clubbing back and forth. Hiptoss and shoulder by Rhyno for two. And the fists start flying as both Conway & Rhyno attempt to get an advantage. Rhyno hits the backdrop and tags in Tajiri. Tajiri hits a dropkick for two. Eugene gets tagged in by Conway. He's as happy as a clam to be in the ring. Tajiri and Eugene lock up and trade several two counts back and forth - about thirty or so pin attempts each - it seemed like it anyhow. Eugene gets in an airplane spin,b ut Tajiri rolls him up for another two. These guys are putting on a clinic. The fans are booing, but I'm loving it! So damn the fans! These guys can wrestle! Tajiri locks Eugene in a Bow & Arrow as we go to commercial.
We come back and Eugene is riding Tajiri like a horsey. Norman Smiley is somewhere screaming "gimmick infringement!". Tajiri starts kicking and hits a flip. Eugene lands on his feet and does the "airplane run" around the ring. Conway tags himself in. Tajiri throws some chops and the handspring elbow. Rob hits a clothesline and stomps away. Sylvain in with a slam-knee-legdrop combination and gets a two count. Syl hits the suplex and a backbreaker for a couple of more two counts. Tajiri hits a kick and tags Rhyno in. Rhyno hits the fists and clotheslines and a big belly-to-belly! Rhyno misses the GORE! GORE! GORE! - I guess he's "GORELESS!" - and Sylvain covers for the pin. Conway grabs the foot from the outside for extra leverage. TAJIRI & RHYNO ELIMINATED!
Regal quickly comes in and attacks- rolling up Grenier for two. Eugene tags in with fists. Rob tags in and beats on Eugene in the corner. Eugene "hulks up" and is ready to kick butt. Syl pulls Eugene to the floor and La Res hits the doubleteam on the outside. Syl gets 2. Sylvain rips at Eugene's face and does a great deal of improvements. (Admit it - Eugene is a nice guy - but that's an ugly lad!) Rob in with the kicks and chokes in the corner. Rob nails Regal on the ring apron. Eugene hits a kick and the "Rock Bottom". Grenier tags in, but Eugene does the leap of desperation and tags in Regal. Regal uses elbows and chops and unloads on Conway. Syl in with the flag, but Regal moves. Grenier nails Conway with the flag. Regal hits a knee and tags in Eugene. Eugene hits the "People's Elbow" and covers for the pin. Winners and NEW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: WILLIAM REGAL & EUGENE
The ref brings some young-uns in the ring to celebrate with Regal & Eugene. Eugene does his "airplane run" and the kids follow suit. Even Regal does it! Funny! Great segment and great match. Everybody looked good in their and it's great to see WIlliam Regal with some well deserved gold around his waist. I'm still doing the ratings (for now anyhow) so out of a possible 1 - 5 rating - this one gets a big 4.25.
AWA, NWA, WWF, ECW, WCW & WWE - All the greatest moments in wrestling history - coming on "WWE 24 - 7" I have to make an admission - seeing those logos for the AWA and NWA - not to mention WCW and ECW - I miss those days! Alot! But so far tonite has been good - so I won't complain too much! I'll save my complaining for the column instead.
Maria is in the back with William Regal and she asks the only question WWE broadcasters are allowed to ask backstage - "What are your thoughts on... ?" This place really needs "Mean" Gene back! Sorry - the nostalgia bug is biting. Damn that 24-7 ad. Regal says Eugene has gone to calm down. The lad gets all excited. Regal says he and Eugene will bring honor and prestige back to the tag team titles. Here is Eugene and he dumps milk all over Maria & Regal. So much for "honor" and "prestige". Eugene hollers out "Got Milk!". No - he doesn't - but it would be funny if he did. Regal has a hanky and starts to wipe down Maria. Eugene gets an eyeful and Regal tells him it will make him go blind. Then Regal tells Maria he could stand to lose an eye - or something like that! Regal is the man!
Maven meets a hot lady backstage. I think she said her name is Candice? Maven puts the moves on her. He's the GM! And amazingly, the pick-up line works. He wants to see her in his office later. She says OK and walks off. Maven goes to his office. He even gets his name on the door. And here's HHH waiting. HHH makes an offer. Maven can have the match for the title... or he can become part of Evolution. HHH talks on and on and on - but makes some good points. He won't lie to Maven. His "friends" weren't there for him when Snitsky attacked him last night and they just want him to win the belt so they can go after him. Maven has a choice - the longshot or the sure thing - become part of Evolution. HHH leaves Maven thinking hard.
WWE MONSTER JOB OF THE WEEK: From last night, Lita unloads on Trish with the chair and beats the crap out of her. Trish ends up with a broken nose.
The next Raw PPV will be coming from San Juan, Puerto Rico. The tickets go on sale Saturday morning.
LITA versus MOLLY HOLLY
Lita & Molly start off with a long lock-up and a staredown. Lita hits a kick and a suplex. Molly misses a dropkick and Lita kicks the mess outta her for two. Fists and clothesline by Lita. Molly hits a snake-eyes. "Molly-Go-Round" by the former Sinead O'Holly. Suplex by Molly for two. Molly claws at Lita's face. Lita throws some fists, but Molly keeps control with some kicks and slubbing forearms. Lita with a monkey-flip & side legsweep for two. Molly swings the fist, but Lita catches her in a modified "Weaver Lock" (that's the sleeper folks!) and Molly taps! Winner: LITA
Lita smiles like a demented evil banshee. Just wicked! I like it! And here comes Trish. She's got a big old brace-thingee on her face for her broken nose and she's not happy at all. She hopes that Lita is happy! Yeah - Lita looks pretty happy! Trish tells the fans not to hate her because she's beautiful. How about because she's a whiney beeaatch? Trish heads the ring. Lita says bring it on. Molly attacks Lita from behnd, but Lita quickly drops her with a DDT. Trish is in Lita's face. Lita pie-faces Trsih with her hand and shoves her to the mat. Lita leaves, smirking - while Trish freaks out and whines. Funny!
A good match for the ladies and a good segment that follows. I think Lita is starting to take a little bit after her "hubby" and get a mean streak. It's about time. On the scale of 1 - 5, this one gets a 3.33. I hate seeing Molly get jobbed out like that, but it was still a good segment!
"The Rise and Fall of ECW" is available tommorow. Be sure to buy it... or else you're gonna get put through a table. Belee' dat!
Coach is in the ring. It's time for him and J.R. to get it on and he's taking Jim Ross downtown to Chinatown! Ross slowly removes his tie and headphones and makes his way to the ring. Coach is bouncing around like Muhammad Ali and is ready to go. Maven appears on the screen. Coach misunderstood. The JR. he's talking about is not "Jim Ross". And the "J" is silent. It's actually just "R" as in "RKO".
COACH versus RANDY ORTON
Coach tries to run as Randy Orton comes to the ring, but Jim Ross "accidentally" trips him. Coach heads to the crowd as Orton follows. Coach ducks behind the ring barrier. Orton waits. Coach peeks up! Peek-a-boo! I see you! Orton grabs Coach and brings him to the ring. Orton throws some fists and sets Coach on the top rope. Coach takes a ride and sings soprano! Orton smiles and slaps around Coach in the corner. Orton rips at Coach's eyes and gives him a big forearm uppercut. RKO by Orton and he gets the easy pin. Winner: RANDY ORTON
A total squash of a match - but it was funny. I like seeing Coach get his butt whipped - so this match rates - on the scale of 1 - 5, a big 3.40. How bout' that?
Todd Grisham is in the back and he's with Edge and Christian. Edge is upset about teaming with Christian. It's a step back. He wrote a book. He should be wrestling HHH for the World Championship. And now, because of Maven and his GM stuff, it's back to square one! Christian asks what's up with the hostility? "Captain Charisma" plugs his achivements and mentions that he beat HBK - the man who cost Edge his shot at the World title. The Peepmeister tells Edge to either follow his lead or stay out of the way. Edge is not happy and decides to give a "five second pose" for the camera. He counts down and apparently shoots the bird as the camera cuts away to a stillshot of Edge & Christian versus Shelton & Benoit. And it's coming up next!
Randy Orton talks to Maven in the back. They rag on Coach for a second and Randy warns Maven about Evolution. It's not worth it. Maven talks about an opportunity and questions Orton's motives. If someone else beats HHH for the belt, Orton's back in the title hunt. Maven wonders if Orotn's concerns are in Maven's best interests or in Orton's?
EDGE & CHRISTIAN (with Tyson Tomko) versus CHRIS BENOIT & SHELTON BENJAMIN
Christian & Benoit start off trading fists and kicks. Benoit scores with a knee. Benoit hits some chops and sends Christian face first into the corner. Shelton tags in and hits a big splat on the "CLB" for two. Christian goes to the eyes and tags in Edge who unloads on Shelton with the fists. Edge hits a suplex for two and punches away at Shelton. Shelton fights back, but Edge hits a kick and tags off to Christian. A quick doubleteam by E & C and Christian starts with the choke. Shelton makes it up and hits a powerslam for two. Edge in with the fists and kicks, but Shelton hits a facebuster. Benoit is tagged in - Edge tags Christian and bails quickly out of the ring. Christian goes to argue with Edge on the floor. Benoit and Shelton hit the baseball slides and send E & C into the ring barrier. Commercial time!
Edge gets two on Shelton as we come back and works on the arm. Edge locks in a "Sgt. Craig Pittman" Code Red on Shelton. Shelton gets two, but Edge nails him with the shoulder for two. Christian in and E & C do a double hiptoss on Shelton. Christian continues to work on the arm. Edge gets in some shots from the outside. Christian misses a splash as Shelton nails him with a sidekick and suplex. Edge comes in with some punches. Benoit in and he unloads, shoving Christian into Edge. Benoit hits the triplex on Christian. Tyson up on the apron and hits Benoit. Edge goes for the spear on Benoit, but Chris moves and Edge spears Tyson. Benoit hits the triplex on Edge. Benoit & Edge go to the outside. Shelton hits the splash on Christian and Benoit nails the diving headbutt. Crossface by Benoit and Christian taps out! WInners: SHELTON BENJAMIN & CHRIS BENOIT
After the match, Edge is outside the ring and upset. He eyes Christian and attacks. He kicks and stomps at Christian and runs "The Peeper Keeper" into the ring steps. It's Christian's fault they lost and he's not World Champion.
Another great match and segement after the match. I was hoping it would end better for Edge & Christian and they would end up being a semi-regular tag team again. I guess not! It looks like war between the "Edgeheads" and the "Peeps!". Did anyone else notice that J.R. & Lawler didn't mention at all during the match about how Edge and Christian are supposed to be "brothers"? Still - I got to see E & C reunited for a great match - so on the "1 to 5" scale - this one gets a big old 4.25.
Maven is in the back and on the phone. He has a big decision to make. Here's Ric Flair. Wooooooo! He has some incentive for Maven to make the right decision. Ric brings in two ladies who quickly latch on to Maven. Ric leaves Maven with the ladies.
"WWE ThemeAddict" will be available everywhere tommorow. It sounds like it'll be good!
CHEAP PLUG ALERT: Jerry "The King" Lawler plugs the "Clearasil for Men Aftershave". Shouldn't he have put this on before the show... like maybe after he shaved? At least he's not drinking a "Surge"...
Lingerie Pillow Fight CHRISTY HEMME versus STACY KEIBLER
Both women are hot. The ring is set up with a bed and lots of pillows. They swing the pillows. Feathers fly. Stacy spanks Christy. They play around on the bed a bit and Christy knocks Stacy to the mat and crawls on top for the win. Winner: CHRISTY HEMME
After the "match", Christy helps Stacy up and both women raise their arms and play to the crowd a bit!
HHH is watching on the moniter and smiles. He tells Batista that Christy is hot and he'd like to fluff her pillows sometime! Somewhere in the back, Steph is probably having a fit. You have to know she loved that line. Steph was jealous of Nidia! And HHH is talking about Christy. Oh vey! Batista has been thinking. HHH can beat Maven - so why does Evolution need him? HHH explains his theories, but Dave doesn't seem to agree. Hunter tells Batista that "nothing good can come of your thinking"... Dave doesn't seem amused, and HHH tells him to lighten up!
Simon Dean is in the ring. He has a stooge with him - whose name is Eric. Simon apologizes for some earlier comments, but then says that people need to face the truth. They need the Simon System. He rags on the fans and "Heartland" of America and then turns his attention to Eric. He calls Eric obese and in failing help and gives him a protein bar. Eric doesn't like it! Simon says this is the first time ever that Eric decided NOT to eat something. "STAND BACK!" Rosey is in the house. Rosey comes down and Simon says he wasn't talking about Rosey being fat. Oh - yes he was! Rosey is fat and disgusting. Simon offers Rosey a protein bar. Rosey shoves the bar in Simon's mouth and slams him into the corner. Rosey goes for a splash, but Simon pulls Eric in the way. Rosey splashes Eric. Simon nails Rosey with a container of his "Simon System" powder and quickly leaves the ring.
SMACKDOWN REBOUND: We go back a few weeks and see Carlito Caribbean Cool challenge and defeat John Cena for the U.S. Championship. Teddy Long tells the Smackdown locker room about Cena's "injuries". Jesus roughs up Josh Matthews when Josh questions CCC about Cena. CCC joins "Team Angle" for Survivor Series. John Cena joins "Team Guerero". During the PPV, CCC ran and eacaped in a car to get away from Cena. Teddy Long makes the match. On this week on Smackdown, Carlito defends the U.S. Title against John Cena.
The official theme song for Survivor Series was "Ugly" by the Exies. It's on sale November 30th...
Jim Ross & Lawler thank the fans for their support and help in making Survivor Series a big success.
Maven is with the ladies. Here are Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit. They want to know what decision Maven made. Maven's not sure. Y2J runs down some history and facts for Maven - Benoit gets all intense and talks about sacrifice and it's all about being the champ. They tell Maven to "think about it!"
WWE REWIND: We see still shots from Survivor Series last night. Randy Orton hits the RKO on HHH and wins the match for his team.
WRESTLEMANIA RECALL: From 1996 and the "Iron Man" match between Shawn Michaels and Bret "The Hitman" Hart. It goes into overtime (Bret was screwed) and HBK hits some "Sweet Chin Music" to capture the WWF Championship.
It's Muhammad Hassan. He talks about his Uncle Akbar and how he lived the American dream - until 9/11. America was all about equality, but that's not the true America. Hassan talks about beating the prejidice out of everyone and he will lead a revolt if necessary. Khosrow Daivari cuts another promo in Persian-Arabic or whatever language that is he speaks. I would translate, but I only took Latin and Spanish. I can say "Goodbye Beer" in Japanese though! Good little piece. We can see the heel tendicies starting to come out! I don't like the basis for the gimmick,. but I'm still looking forward to seeing these guys in action. I've heard some good stuff about Daivari.
HHH and Evolution come to the ring. It's time for Maven to make his decision. He's either with them or against them. Maven takes the mic. He thought long and hard. He wants to be the World Champion. HHH just nods. We've got ourselves a match.
World Championship Match TRIPLE H (c) versus MAVEN
Flair and Batista get in the ring. Here comes Jericho and Benoit down the ramp. Ric & Dave drop back to the floor. HHH starts out strong with a shoulder and hiptoss. Y2J reaches in and grabs HHH's leg. Maven rolls him up for two. HHH uses the fists. Maven uses the elbows. Batista nails Maven as he goes up on top. The ref sees. Dave has to go to the back. Flair is beside himself and gets in the ref's face. Flair is ejected. HHH is on his own. Maven punches HHH. HHH hits the knee and a spinebuster for two. Benoit pulls HHH's leg out to break the count. Y2J distracts the ref and Benoit nails HHH. Maven gets two. HHH fights back and clubs away at Maven. HHH goes after Benoit on the floor. Y2J distracts the ref again and Benoit puts HHH into the steps. Y2J throws HHH into the ring and Maven hits a big shoulder and kick. Facebuster by HHH. Benoit trips HHH from the outside. Maven nails a kick and gets two. DDT by Maven and he goes to the second rope for "Buffbuster" for two. Maven goes up for the crossbody from the top. HHH ducks and Maven does the "crash & burn!". HHH goes for a pedigree, but Y2J is in and nails HHH with the bulldog and lionsault. Maven gets two. Maven uses the fists, but HHH comes back again with the inverted atomic drop. HHH hits the pedigree. Jericho puts Maven's foot on the ropes to break the count. The ref see's and Jericho is ejected. Jericho argues with the ref as Benoit nails HHH with the suplex and headbutt. Maven gets two. Edge in and he nails Benoit. Edge spears the referee. Jericho back in and he and Benoit beat on Edge. Here's Batista and he nails Jericho. Flair is out and gives HHH the title belt. Randy Orton is out as well and nails Ric and HHH - and then clocks HHH with the belt. Maven covers, but Ric pulls the ref out of the ring. Orton nails Flair and starts beating on Flair on the floor. Gene Snitsky is out and nails Randy Orton. He gets in the ring and eyes both HHH and Maven before giving Maven the big boot! HHH hits the pedigree and gets the pin. Winner: TRIPLE H
This match was pure OING0-BOINGO at the end, but it didn't really hurt the match. Maven doesn't belong in the ring with HHH, but they put on a good show and it was entertaining from start to finish. On the ratings scale - let's give it a 3.25.
And that's the end of Raw for tonight. Maven was actually entertaining as the GM and to tell the truth, I was thinking he was going to jump to Evolution. But the month of madness isn't over yet! Who's next to be the GM? I expect Randy will be last so it's probably either Jericho or Benoit. Maven did well and he'll be a tough act to follow. The whole show was well booked and just flew by. The only part that was lacking was the "Lingerie Pillow Fight" with Stacy & Christy, but it was short so it didn't distract too much away from the wrestling. Congratualtions to WIlliam Regal & Eugene on their victory as the new World Tag Team Champions. Let's recap the matches for tonight!
Elimination Match - World Tag Team Titles: La Resistance beat Tajiri & Rhyno Elimination Match - World Tag Team Titles: William Regal & Eugene beat La Resistance to win the titles. Lita defeated Molly Holly Randy Orton destroyed The Coach Shelton Benjamin & Chris Benoit beat Edge & Christian Lingerie Pillow Fight: Christy Hemme beat Stacy Keibler World Heavyweight Championship - Triple H defeated Maven
